I'm glad you found it helpful! I should note that Amazon no longer uses MOBI files. They just use the EPUB file.

To over come the gaps with the italics, you can use soft returns to push words back onto the previous line. To do a soft return you hold down the shift key AND the paragraph return key.

I was hoping for a little more. What happens when the manuscript is cluttered with inserted images. I know Affinity has a pinning function, but I don’t find an option to size with text, and would like to know whether pinning works to maintain image position in a stable way. Otherwise thank you for sharing this video

I notice you set all your pages to right handed pages. For ebooks do you use left handed pages too, or does that cause a problem with layout in epub and mobi?

Hello, I recently purchased the affinity suite for desktop and iPad.
I have finalized 2 illustrated children books and am planning to upload my illustrations to affinity publisher to add my text.
My concern is that I’ve been thoroughly looking for a tool to convert my book to epub with fixed layout and I’m out of ressources. The tools a looked into were developed for text books.
    Would you have any recommendations?
    Thanking you, Julie

    Dear Ms. Shea,
thanks a lot for taking the time to produce this great "How-To"!
I actually found you on YT because I'd like to learn how to produce EPUBs (technical manuals and the like), sources being docx- and pdf-files. One of the reasons for considering Publisher is, that manuals can be quite heavy on graphics, which sometimes makes troubles in Word ...
Re the problem with the word "Problem" in Publisher: could it be, that the line length (resp. paragraph width) is taken as a measure, instead of the right margin position? Or is the first line indent the culprit?
Just one more question: the Publisher source file is justified, as is the MOBI-file (@24.00). But why is the EPUB (@15.48) left-justified?
Again, thanks for that useful tutorial!

Pity it didn't work for me. I have too many images and can't imagine fixing everything on Sigil, it will take ages. I've tried to flatten the pdf, I locked all images etc. to different scrambled outputs. Will try something else, but thanks a lot!

Does this still work the same after 3 years and v2? How do you deal with footnotes? Paragraph CAP etc? Unfortunately Affinity still doesnt have Epub function...

Why is all the text in separate layers. It should be in text frames not individual lines.

I am designing a book in affinity publisher which includes footnotes, and since it does not have a footnote feature I will have to insert them and style them manually. Would this work when converting to an ebook? Or would the footnotes end up on different pages where they shouldn't be?

Hi Lisa, does this also work with pictures and hyperlinks, I've created in Affinity-Publisher and Aff.-Designer? Or do I have to set up my E-Book in Sigil from scratch with such more complicated material?

One little thing.. There is no spacing between the comma and the word "my" in "See, my luck was..".
