I told Doyle Dykes one time I was going to smash mine and he talked me out of it! Norman I one of the most amazing musicians on the planet. He it a true treasure! And he makes it look so simple!!! But it sure is not! I swear the guy has 10 fingers!
This is very well recorded. Most of the time, Nancy is not heard. She is here. I appreciate Mr. Bryant's intonation.... I work with a fiddler who isn't nearly as precise. Norman.... a national treasure.
If the Devil offered me a choice between being granted the ability to play like either Doc, Tony, or Norman at their respective primes, I know what I'd choose.
@@graysonbyrd7538 Yeah. Doc may have been the Ultimate Flatpicker. I would call Norman the Ultimate Triple Threat - Singing, Songwriting, and Flatpicking. In the US, anyway. Richard Thompson is a wildcard...
Holy smokes this the best thing i have heard since covid 19 invadid our lives please keep up the tradition of music and love and keep safe --we need you
American music doesn't get any better than this. What a fine ensemble!
Norman always has a smile for his wife..!
His playing is awesome even when tuning at the beginning.
I need to burn my guitar...
you'll likely be alive long enough to at least be able to play along with norm!! keep the faith!!

I love how Blake rocks those low strings in a highly syncopated fashion!

Nobody, but nobody plays like Norman. Fantastic!!!!!!!
Norman Blake is the greatest.
One of their finest performances ever captured.

He never misses a note. It’s unreal.
Doc is hard to beat though!! But I understand picking Norman

That moment in the beginning where he’s cross picking while he tunes his E string is the most effortlessly cool thing ever.

I think I heard a rattlesnake rattle in the soundhole at the end :)
Now THATS flatpickin!
Have heard Dusty Miller do this Norman Blake song.
to me in my generation there were/are 3 great flat picker johnny herald, doc. and norman

It looks like Telluride in the late 70s to me. They are all so young in this video, especially Nancy.
If you click the "More" button under the description, it says that it was recorded at Telluride.
I think Bob Dylan platform his career from Norman Blake
A D G C G D Em
Em G D G A C D Em
Extraordinary, but Norman needs a haircut.
