    Great guide overall!
    Having been lucky enough to drive more than two dozen laps of the Nordschleife, I will add a couple of thoughts for 1st timers at the circuit:
    1) Do not take a rental car (Avis, Hertz, etc) to the track. They use GPS trackers and you will get a very large surcharge.
    2) When you rent at the track, get an automatic transmission. I know that sounds bad...but you will be busy enough without having to focus on shifting.
    3) Home driving simulators (Xbox, PlayStation, etc) are great, but they cannot give your body the feeling you will experience on the track. EG: The weightlessness at the Flugplatz or the negative camber at the bottom of Fuchsrohre. These can make your stomach queasy if you are not expecting it!
    4) Take a break after the first two laps. You may be somewhat exhausted from the adrenaline rush that will hit you. It is a blast to drive, but it requires a lot from you both physically and mentally.
    5) Start with a rental that matches your personal vehicle. Do not start with a 911 if your daily driver is a Focus.
    6) As stated in the video, don't try to set a track record on your first lap. Work your way into the lap and build up your speed slowly.
    Above all else: A successful day at the track is defined by exiting the track in as good a condition as when you arrived! If both you and the vehicle leave in good condition, that is your win!

    • @jazzdirt
      @jazzdirt 2 года назад

      @@cobbomusic It's all relative... the IoM is way longer, Targa Florio is 4x the Nordschleife.. If I drive around NS in a decently fast car in a sim it's about 7 minutes. That's just not that long.. Targa takes me on average 45min.. And IoM 20-ish
      Also every time you drive it, it becomes more familiar, and it feels shorter somehow... And I have about 4000 hours in driving the Nordschleife in sims alone.. So for me it's not that long..

      Driver61 invent a time machine and go back 45+ years. It cost 10 german marks for 2 laps which you started in the pits and took consecutively without having to stop in the middle of the long straightaway. As a bonus you could also add the now defunct sudschleife part which added another almost 5 miles to your lap. At least that's what I recall it was like. It's been a while.

    I am not at the end of the video yet, but as it is not mentioned in the introduction, it is maybe advised to not go for a couple of laps in a row if your car is not track prepared ? just for the brakes, friend of mine in Porsche faced a completely "spongy" brake pedal after overheating obviously (2 laps in a row).. Just a noobie observation, never too careful :s

    Great guide, particularly helpful for those who have already been at the ‘Ring. You could have provided much more guidance on turn in points, there are plenty of references. Fully acknowledge that different cars = slightly different turn in points, but there is some consensus amongst instructors what the references should be for road / track day car. On that topic, the Radical is quite an odd choice here, it gets away often with very early turn in points due to the aero, nothing one should do with a road car. However, many valuable hints, so thanks for the effort.

    Hey Scott... You could easily sell this guide for $99+. Why for free? I don't get it. Giving away guides for smaller tracks like Donington to gather people around your channel and site is good. But then you should charge for big guides for tracks like SPA/Nurb. Anyway, I'm really thankful for this... for Grand Prix Legends purposes haha

    Enthusia had a system where if you touch the grass, you get a black flag, It was so difficult. My brother and I had a challenge to get no black flags. It took basically forever xD

    I've been running this course on a BeamNG multiplayer server that tracks hotlaps, and after days of crashing or going off track too many times I finally hit a 7:23. Then after another day of crashing I hit a 7:21. Some of the times for the same vehicle (but tuned/upgraded better) are below 6:30! Hands down my favorite track
