Jesus. I knew you weren't gonna like it, but I didn't expect you to DESPISE it. This is why I'm glad I don't care for other people's opinions more than some people do, because I bet some people will be frothing at the mouth for ALL of this. Not me though, this is entertaining as all hell, even if I love the figure
Really important skill to have
Learning to enjoy other people's opinions, especially if it's not that important of a topic, rather than immediately cursing them out for it is a good virtue to have.
As fans of a franchise, we really need to practice humility and respect a lot more so we wouldn't constantly divide ourselves from others.

Yeah, I absolutely love Transformers Prime and hearing him hating it is kinda funny. His videos on why it's bad are so entertaining even if I wholeheartedly disagree.

I remembered buying this and was weirded out why he had some random hinge joint on his chest for no reason and brought back my PTSD of the Legacy Insecticons
Unlike them this one actually works though, which is almost weirder.
I feel like if the modern Beast Wars figures were screen accurate, people would complain that the sculpts are too smooth or featurless or whatever
I wouldn’t fully agree, the SS 86 line (for the most part) is quite smooth. And nobody complains about that.
I don't think that'd be the case. If anything some slight fur, skin and scale texturing would've done wonders to modernize the figures.
Silverbolt and Rattrap are tied as my favorite transformers. And I'm in the same boat as you. Though, I'm not so much furious as I am disappointed. Congratulations Fuzors Silverbolt for getting a 2nd figure. I just wish I could love you.

When I saw his headsculpt the only thing I could think was "I can't let you do that, Star Fox!"
Where is the paint? They are saving it for the show "accurate/ premium" 2-pack version they are going to eventually release further down the line.

Well 1, the wings are not show accurate in any way shape or form, so I'm not sure what you are talking about there? They are bigger in the show, more mobile, and mounted Hinger in the robot mode, and lower in the beast mode.
And 2 yes the Fake hinges are show accurate, however when they've changed THIS MUCH just for the sake of making it not like the show model, why leave that one part?

@@PerspectiveEnd The only things you highlight in the video that are "unfaithful" to the original are the claws and the wings (the wings are faithful to the show) and with that you can say that then the figure should not have the false hinges on the chest ? The figure is fine, you have every right to hate it, but I feel that you are somewhat misguided in where you want to direct your criticism.
Personally, all the things you mentioned in robot mode ,to me sound extremely nitpicky(apart from the paint distribution, that's something always pissed me off about hasbro, Legacy Cybertron Starscream is a good example for that, amazing figure, his legs are devoid of any color, they should've taken all the red from the tail fins and put them on the shins)
As for the beast mode, yeah, i get it, but to me all the beast wars toy beast modes looked awful (until we got to the transmetal 1 era.), no matter if it was vintage or modern, so I'm a lot more forgiving about their mistakes.

I was super worried when the first images leaked, thought it was going to be shit. Was pleasantly surprised by the in-hand feel of the figure, plus the posing and transformation are in fact quite strong.
I disagree about the Transformation, it's boringly simple, but I do think you are correct on the other two points.

I really want to get the original. This thing looks fucking freaky. But I cant afford it because it is so expensive. I’m just going to assume the Beast Wars Reissue line in cancelled because it just as never had an announcement in like a year, so i’ll see what i can afford on eBay. The original Fuzor looks great.
Actually, I got mine on ebay, for less than the Voyager. You can find em mostly completely for 30 bucks or so if you are willing to not have the package.
This is the best example of when the TF team go too animal accurate than cartoon accurate on a toy, still both modes look sick though. Silverbolt is awesome and we need the rest of the Maximals and Predacons in Beast Wars!

I feel like it would help you to know that the lead designer on this toy was from Takara. Silverbolt was his first toy, and he is the world’s biggest silver bolt fan.

damn i really hated the way you despise the figure. its like. cmon man, youve said the figure is pretty alright and theyve been doing this for years now. but i get it i guess. I mean comments are pretty chill and at least you spoke both your truth (not liking it) and saying an objective truth (its quite a good figure). So i can not complain, good job i guess. Other content creator with such a hate for this wouldve said it is trash just for not being what they expected
I always try to be objective. I understand that what I like, does not have to be good, and what I don't does not have to be bad.
I wish I loved this thing. I don't buy figures hoping my money is wasted, but I can't pretend this hit's the spot for me.

I FIGURED OUT THE CENTER CHEST HINGE. The plastic on the neck is different than on the chest. They needed to attach it somehow so they used that hinge.
When did they ever give an indication that they would move away from the realistic beast modes? The behind the scens for tm2 megatron mentioned how hard it was for their pc to render the model due to all the scales they added for dragon mode. Tigerhawk they showed a diagram of what sculpting parts were reused from tigertron and airazor. The realism isn't going to stop anytime soon by the looks of things
I think his head looks off because its not "furry enough", it looks like they were trying to get it as close as they can but are leaving enough room to evoid being accused of being a furry.
But Dragon Megatron, and Tigerhawk, look WAAAAAAAAAY more accurate to the show models than anything else. I'm not too worried about some reused textures here and there.
And maybe that's what they were doing wrong with the head.
😳wow… I haven’t seen someone tear a figure a new one this hard since jobbythehong’s review of bold forms gladius yet I’m comparing an absolute shit of a figure to a figure that honestly I thought is good but didn’t realize all its flaws. So is it bad design wise yes but fun factor it is not bad to transform which I’ll say is a win for me cause while I like beast wars megatron from kingdom I have more fun transforming his transmetal 2 form more and even the Jurassic park version of the mold feels better to transform
I've gone on figures harder before, but I do freely admit this is decent, it's just doing a lot to make me specifically Hate it.
It seems like this figure is suffering a death by a thousand tiny horrible design choices. Like you said, this figure from afar looks like it passes as a quality addition to Legacy. He's not as immediately and obviously horrendous and cheap as Kingdom Rhinox is.
But then a closer inspection of this guy starts to reveal all these little things that really, really bother or disappoint you, piling onto each other and snowballing into a bigger and bigger disappointment until you're just left with this awful taste in your mouth just by looking at him.
This Silverbolt is definitely deceptive in his ability to disappoint, because I was totally on board with him based on all the product shots until I saw this review.
Absolutely, it's just wrong in a million small ways.
And I'd say from far away he looks fine in robot mode. In beast mode it is Apparent that he's bad no matter the distance.
I did not realize just how much better the original looks than the new one. I was totally 100% in on this until you showed the transformation that had random parts that don't do anything. I'll just get pounded on Ebay for an original. Thanks for the really in-depth review here.
No problem, happy to do it, and I got my OG one after this came in, on ebay my self, FOR LESS than I paid for the Legacy one, and that thing wasn't even scalped. So it's just all win for me on that front.
The shoulder hinges are from the show, same as the chest hinge, that's not toy accuracy that's screen accuracy...of course Silverbolt had those in the show for toy accuracy so it comes back around, but I like them.
I agree about the wings, hope a third party steps in and gives us big wings with forward hinges, not sure if anything can be done about the tail feathers.
The face feels wrong because it's neutral and Silverbolt was constantly making expressions or tilting his head in confusion.
The tail would be super easy to replace so yea let's hope DNA design makes a set that replaces 99% of the eagle parts lol
I think the feet were changed to make it easier for him to stand since his original feet are shaped weird
Even so it’s kind of a stupid thing to complain about, no one cares about the feet on any figure unless they make it impossible for it to stand
The old figure didn't really have a problem with that, and it was way more back heavy, and didn't have ankle tilts.
I mean I care. It's just yet another aspect of this figure that doesn't look like the character.
They should’ve replaced Beast Wars Silverbolt with G1 Silverbolt and make this year’s combiner (if there is going to be one) G1 Superion.
Oh my Primus dude take it easy on the figure it's amazing figure to go in top 10 for me.
I've been noticing more and more that these figures are...off somehow. Like, it "looks" like the character, but at the same time not. Not as obvious as Legacy RiD Scourge, but it's there. They can't make up if they want toy loyalty or animation accuracy. It's so much easier to make anything after G1 (yes, including most of Beast Wars, but not including Prime but that was always BS'd), but it seems confused like Legacy Sandstorm having a toy accurate head.
But with Beast wars the toys after Transmetals were actually REALLY accurate to the show already, so if they went this way, then youd think they'd make it look more like it's supposed to but the way they are just picking and choosing SOME elements is insane.
Super excited to get this for my younger sister as Silverbolt is HER favorite BW Character! Then ill pick up the BW again deco of Kingdom Cheetor for my youngest sister, BW Kingdom and Legacy go so hard for me, except Scorponok but hey ROTB Scorpys got me covered there lol

I will say that for me personnaly i am fine with how this thing looks. Its close enough to the design and i dont care about the finer details that much. also it is LITTERALY my ONLY option for beast wars silverbolt since the transformers aftermarket in denmark is basicly NONEXISTENT so i have no way of getting the origanel

The reason I complain about those hinges, is they changed everything else, so why leave that one detail?
While I do see your complaints, and can agree with a few of them, mainly about the wings being too low on the back and the beast mode tail feathers being too short on its rear, I still really enjoy this figure. I’d give a solid 8.5/10. The only major thing I would liked to have seen given to this figure are calf swivels. Calf swivels would have allowed the front beast mode feet to go perfectly flat when the legs aren’t tabbed in; the way they are now doesn’t allow for them to be completely flat against any flat surface when they’re untabbed.
But again, I do really enjoy this figure, from robot mode to beast mode. It also helps that I don’t have a preference for realistic beast modes against toon-accurate beast modes for the Generations figures. I can see the appeal for both options, I just don’t have a major draw to picking one side over the other.
Of course the biggest thing this figure does for me is get me antsy for a new Quickstrike figure. While that Quickstrike most likely would have realistic animal elements to his beast mode, which would displease you, so long as it’s made entirely out of solid plastic it would automatically became a better figure than the original version. That original Quickstrike was 80%-90% clear plastic, and even though I got a brand new copy it did not take that many months for the feet become loose as all hell. It definitely needs an upgrade.
Also, side tanget, if we were to get a new Optimal Optimus figure, what size class do you think it should be? On the one hand, a leader class size would make him more affordable. On the other hand, he was the largest character in the show so making him commander class would not only allow for a more accurate size, but also a lot more features and posability.

I don't know that Calf Swivels would really save this thing, the problems with it aren't really that the beast mode legs aren't flat enough.
But it doesn't look realistic? It's 1 a Chimera, and 2 it's a Really Botched Beast Sculpt, and 3 the bird leg aspect, doesn't look even remotely realistic.
Hopefully a Quickstrike is good. If it's not being made by the same guy it probably will be.
Commander is probably best for the size, but I don't know if the design had enough complexity to be a Commander.
I bought Silverbolt even after watching this review, and I'll agree he's probably not as accurate as he could be, but I still love this figure. It's just kind of fun for me, and it's funny because I never liked Silverbolt. He was always my least favorite design and character in the show, and yet this figure finally got me to fall in love with this guy. I don't know how but Legacy United actually got me to enjoy Silverbolt

Not gonna lie, this video was quite suprizing, the fact that Bolt is one of your favorite BW characters ( hi to a fellow flying wolf fan ), or the reaction at the end resolt.
As for my take,. the robot mode is dicent, but I do agree the head look's rather stiff. And the beast mode has wonky proportions to say the least, especially in the back.
And as for the question of the video...
As far as fuzors go, if you could pick, what non-show characters you would liked to see get a new fig and why?
Yeah, I've not talked about him much, though I've not had much cause to before now.
The rear of the beast mode is a crime.
Injector. I LOVED injector as a kid. He was my favorite Fuzor.
I think the hinges were there because the show model had them. He did. I've rewatched Beast Wars at least six - seven times over the course of six years. Don't argue with me, boy.

Bought this along side BB Megatron and never really gave it any thought since Peak was on the shelf beside him but... ya, I can't help but agree. I am fine with him, but this could have been WAY Better. Mine also has the issue of loose wings, they are so floppy you'd wear he broke a bone
Either way, he is now holding Blackarachnia in his arms between the Maximals and Predacons on my shelf and aslong as he can do that, thats great
I think putting him With Blackarachnia does add something, since it feels more right that way, but at the same time, she's covering for his failures... Apt honestly.
The “realistic” beast modes in Kingdom and Legacy was a mistake. Completely taking away the personality from every character, and sometimes making the robot modes a touch uglier with the “realistic” textures.
Agreed. And it didn't make them fit the style of the line more, it just made them less accurate for no reason.
I’m just glad to have a modern Silverbolt to go with Blackarachnia. The original is definitely better, but he’s too short to fit with Blackarachnia. That’s literally the only reason I bought him. Also, I really like him.

My only problem with this thing is that it can’t do the robot mode missile thing from the show.
Also (5:19) the elbows bending pulling out the beast mode leg is actually show accurate. (Crazy, I know)
Yeah his shooting pose is one of the most iconic things he does, so it's super lame that he cant.
The one take I will 1000% fight you on: Every transformers figure NEEDS a waist swivel. Take that away and you practically have a brick of a figure.
I don't agree. You can do a lot to make up for a lack of a Waist.

Personally I don’t like this figure and never bothered getting this, but I was expecting Perspective to love it but damn I stand corrected. Though I can certainly see why he’s not a fan. That’s some weird engineering…
Yeah, most people thought I was going to love this thing, and I wish I did.
If the wait for a new silver bolt wasn’t like 25-30 ish years long this wouldn’t feel as bad but why drop the ball this hard like the birddoggo deserves better, wish they’d drop the realistic beast modes at this point.
Also if they do a quick strike silver bolt and him will probably be made into that premium finish 2 pack so we’ll get this in good paint but with all its flaws.

Just exactly how I feel about Studio Series 102 Optimus, but this one is sad to see given it's Silverbolt that got disrespected by Hasbro.
I absolutely hate how the beast mode turned out. The transformation to beast mode is just downright garbage. This is a character I was really looking forward to to getting this guy in Legacy but man was I disappointed when I got him. I honestly can't wait for the transcert version, hopefully that one will keep the transformation similar to the original and it looks like it's going to have the wings folding over the shoulder to fire the missiles. I just hope it's way better than this.
The Transart one is our only hope at this point. Hopefully they don't Drop the ball again.

I decently like this figure, the size of the wings really did bother me as well...the main sin this figure has committed is one that a lot of legacy figures have, it's just boring, especially after handling the original. I think i know another reason they do the beast leg peg in thing and it's something i kind of appreciate, things with 4 legs are sometimes hard to get all feet flat on the floor when posing and having them pegged in kind of helps with that, it's a problem i had with figures like commander Sky Lynx.

Honestly I hate toy loyalty too. In my honest opinion, if you want to make a new figure look like it's old toy then re-release the old toy and add some new articulation that won't compromise it. Missing Link Optimus showed this can work, so they have no excuse.

well to address the who is cyclonus argument, I have my own reason for thinking it's skywarp, loyalty, specifically Unicron's effect on personality
we all know that during the movie Unicron constantly had to discipline Galvatron for disobedience which if he could alter a bot's personality you'd think he'd program out of him and make him loyal, so the fact that he didn't when he most certainly would implies he can't so if Unicron can't make a bot more loyal, then how could he make the treacherous bombshell loyal but not Galvitron? however if Cyclonus was Skywarp then loyalty wouldn't be an issue as he was loyal to begin with, all Unicron would have to do is make him a bit smarter which there is not evidence stating he can't do
TLDR Galvitron's rebelliousness proves Unicron can't make bots more loyal and thus Cyclonus can't be bombshell

I was definitely underwhelmed with the figure too. For me it was the colors. Repainted it myself and it was already x10 better. Just a bit of drybrush on the fur and wings took it from a 6 to an 8.
Yeah that would help a bunch, as one of this things issues is just how lifeless it feels.
This is definitely a solid figure, but he could definitely stand for much more loyalty to the original show model and more wing articulation

Damn I just had a staredown between this and animated Optimus to get earlier today. Sorta regretting not prime but I still like silverbolt regardless of its inacuratecies and flaws cause I cant seem to find a good condition silverbolt and this is the newest figure of him.
The Optimus is pretty fun.
Those extra hinges and molded detail in the chest and shoulder confused the HELL out of me in the transformation, since I tend to try to not use instructions. I enjoy the figure though, but I guess once I get to his part of the show my opinion may change, still only on episode 5 or 6 of season 1
Hopefully you continue to like it as much as you do. And he had the hinges in the show, but they changed So much about this design, why keep an aspect that can confuse people.

It's almost rude to the original say it's a Massive Downgrade, it would be terrible if there were nothing to compare it to.
Old figure has better claw feet. New one has flat feet.........😅 why Hasbro? Why? How he can attack enemies with that flat feet?
Also the old figure had a separate rear toe, so he could pick up figures.

I know that feeling, one of your favourite characters being made an alright toy, but because you already liked the character a lot before you notice how wrong the figure feels. The explanation for this I think it is just that the it looks accurate but is so limited by how crap the toy is designed which prevents it from being peak that you know could have been avoided, making it a missed opportunity so big you resent the toy for it

I saw the figure, didn't like it, but assumed you might like it more as the Beast Wars guy. So hearing you hate it too was surprising.

i'm surprised you didn't rail against the tail even harder. its horrible. the legs are farther back than it. like, a tail has one job; hang off the butt farther off than anything else, but this tail doesn't even reach his rear legs.
I mean I made fun of it calling it a micro mini skirt, and complaining about his moose knuckle. I felt like I hammered it pretty hard.

Truth be told, the only thing I'm bothered by is the tail. His tail should not be that short. They also shouldn't have done that to the feather arrows/bombs

I bought him sight unseen cause I love Silverbolt, and when I got him out of the box it just felt... wrong. The fake joints, the weird proportions, the goofy headsculpt. And then his beast mode just made things worse. I got him on sale but was already thinking of returning him, now your video is kind of pushing me more in that direction
(Admitted he has grown on me since the first day, but seeing the original figure next to him really drives it home how subpar he is)

This and Animated Bee are my first United figures and I gotta say, I love em both. Even with my love for the character I just, have a great time messing with it. The Fuzor aspect is something I love and am excited to get Tigerhawk for, and hoping we get Quickstrike soon too. Maybe they'll do another premium finish line if they make those two. Animated Bee, it's a fun little compact goober that takes me back to my childhood. Glad you liked that one, as for this I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it as much. Same with SS Rhinox and Origins Jazz considering the former I directly recommended.

@@PerspectiveEnd I wouldn't say that, I have probably watched season one more than the rest of the show but only because that's what was available to me at the time. He's grown on me a lot since seeing the show in full.

The original was one of my favorite toys growing up, but this looked bad in the images. We're not getting it in Australia, though I feel compelled to get one for completionist reasons. It's a sickness, isn't it?
Saying that, I think a lot of the BW Kingdom+ toys were hurt by redesigning the wheel. Cheetor is the one that gets me, the original toy was fine. It just needed slimming down a bit, maybe rework the back legs. Tweak it. More like TM Cheetor. Twice now at retail they've made Cheetor's that compromise the transformation and robot mode for the beast mode. Rhinox was objectively the worst, though I'm not super keen on Blackarachnia, but Rhinox's original toy wasn't great either.
The waist is really important for people that don't have a lot of figures. It's really sad when the thing you will mess around with for a long time can't do some poses that you want to.
(BTW, I think you contradicted yourself a bit when you said that the toy is the best representation of the character, but then complained about the toy loyalty. Not a dig at you, just want to know what is your opinion)
It's not a contradiction, but I think I may have not made the distinction clear.
This has a problem because it's trying so hard to not be the original toy, changing everything about the sculpt and the way stuff works. But every now and then it shoves in these details that shouldn't be there if they are trying to make it a new thing.
And toy loyalty is where they force in some aspect of an old design, but say the broad strokes of the transformation are not toy loyalty.
Like look at Optimus, his head flips in, and his arms go back on butterfly hinges to form the sides, while the legs become the bed of his truck. That's not toy loyalty, that's just the classic Optimus transformation.
The original toy, does the transformation he is shown to have in the show, this does not, yet it forces in details that shouldn't be there when they changed everything else.

I can definitely see the flaws. The head looks lifeless but tfb that's a flaw with literally every figure nowadays, the wings are mounted pretty low, the feet are weirdly small, and most of it was designed to fit in a waist swivel and look very loyal to the original. But, ngl, I just wanted this figure for one thing: to stand. The original copy I have has spaghetti legs at this point thanks to the balljoints and whenever I take someone on the shelf I risk him falling off for the upteenth time. While this new one doesn't look as good as it should, at least he has nice and tight joints, and him and Blackarachnia are the appropiate size at last.
I'm sorry to hear that. That's at least not a problem my copy has, Honestly his legs are extremely stiff on mine.

They should have just done what they did with SS86 Perceptor and Kingdom Core Soundwave; take the OG figure and update the articulation where possible (wings specifically) but otherwise keep stuff the same since it worked the first time.
Also, to someone who grew up with Silverbolt being a Concorde and one of the Aerialbots. . . This REALLY looks nothing like him!!

But don't get me wrong, there are some great 'modern' figures that have been remoulded to look like G1...Figures like the much maligned Legacy Bulkhead would have looked great in the G1 cartoon, even if he doesn't look anything like the 'Prime Universe' figure he's meant to represent.

well the fake hinges ARE in the cgi model, so no, they are NOT wrong at adding the detail as it IS part of the show design....the fuck with the chest hinge though, then they cry about having too little budget to add a single ankle tilt in ss jolt which is already tiny as heck
See I agree with that, but they changed just about everything else about the sculpt, so why is that there?
If they are doing a new thing, that shouldn't be there, if they aren't then the rest of the changes are the problem.

This figure and Rhinox and Tigatron were the only Kingdom/Legacy Bw figures I didn’t pickup just because they didn’t look fun to handle

I think it looks fine for what it is, though it’s the same thing with Vector Prime with the fact it resembles the original, but look closer and it just looks so wrong

Well the difference here, is that that's a Retool. This ONLY had to be accurate to this character.
So that's a pretty seriously Successful Retool, while this is a Complete Failure of a Solo Tooling.

Outstanding review PerspectiveEnd!! I was blinded by my desire to have a figure of BW Silverbolt in my collection, I had no idea just how numerous his flaws were. lol Hopefully if we get a Legacy figure of Quickstrike it will be similar to Tigerhawk instead of Silverbolt. Keep on being amazing.
