Trying to fix the faulty power button of the Logitech G933 Headset which is muffling the sound on one of the ear cups. This method is a easy fix using WD-40 to clean the power switch.
Maybe i'll do it again using a proper contact cleaner.
If have a solution or did try this method, please, comment bellow.
    That's all.
    Thanks, Folks!

Worked so far for me. I have a G935. Crazy they haven't addressed this yet. I think I filed four warranty claims on FOUR different G935s, all with this same problem.
For the G935 though, there is one extra screw near the volume wheel that seems to hold the thing in place. Make sure you remove them before forcing anything further.
It was also a bit more tough to finagle the blue electrical tape wire back into the housing, because the G935 has this connection BEHIND the board, whereas in this video, it is on the front. In the end I use my fingernails and some gumption to get them back into place.
So far working great. Thanks a lot man!

Going to open my second unit to give it the WD40 shower too. Amazing the power that WD40 brought to fix this, properly stunned.

Fiz o conserto e ficou bom. Abri de novo me cagando, coloquei a culpa no gato, ele ficou confuso. Fiz carinho nele, pedi desculpa, consertei o botão. Me assustei quando vi que o cabo flat do meu é diferente, depois vi que era o meu é o 935, mais medo. No final deu tudo certo, fiquei escutando músicas e digitando esse comentário para agradecer.

Worked on my G935 perfectly! Thanks a lot! This is my secound pair that got this issue. First one was within warranty. Guess should have searched for that fix earlier. After doing a similar repair on my G935 (and damaging the cable for the driver in the process, leading to me having to cut the damaged part out, stripping and resoldering the wires together :/) one thing that i would add is that id recommend fully removing the clip holding the power button (fiddly as it may be) and fully cleaning the contacts (in my case with isopropyl alcohol and a qtip). Your method seems to work fine, the issue that may arise is that since the particles preventing proper contact are not completely removed it will probably not take as much time for the issue to arise again. Although I agree that removing the PCB is a pain, even more so with the g935 because the ribbon cable is on the bottom instead of on top of the PCB.

Great fix. I was just wondering if this would work for mine and hear I am wishing I had done it much sooner. WD40 IS amazing, but best bet would be get a non-conductive contact cleaner for fine-electrical and micro circuitry. I have used standard contact cleaner before and melted off very thin solder traces, so I use this stuff now. Permatex makes it. I'm sure others do.

Piece of advice with almost ANY Logitech headset:
while you have the left earmuff open anyway, see what happens to the wires when you move the microphone (fold/pull). They will most likely scrape over the board. This will eventually cause the wires to frill out and break.
If you ever got a feeling Logitech mic just 'gives out' over time(way after warranty ran out), thats most likely the reason why. No idea if its neglect or planned obsolescence, but its interesting this design flaw has never been amended.
Easy fixes can be hot glue on the wires exposed to the most friction, or just electrical tape on that area of the board to reduce friction and protect from pointy bits.

  • @Soulishh

Thankyou so much! I cannot believe Logitech is this unprofessional. It really baffles me how they haven't offered compensation about this issue beause it is clearly worldwide. All they ever say is: Do these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. LIKE THAT'S NOT THE ISSUE.

The real fix i found was to turn that board around and you'll see a gold metal strip. In the middle that bar gets bent outwards a little bit over use. If you gently press that bar in. It doesn't really go in that much but just try to flatten it. It doesn't need that much force just just a flat object like a safe flat head and press gently on that golden part of the switch and that should fix the problem.

Here is a tip: if you have shaking hands like me, remember to tape up the speaker tiny holes. If any screw gets in there it will be a nightmare to retrieve, you'll have to cut some of the holes to get to the screw, since the magnets in the speaker will make it impossible to retrieve the screw.

Ah! someone with a G935! YAYY!
I have to do mine as well, so my question is, is disassembly pretty much the same as we see here?
Is there just the ribbon cable to remove and is the switch board pretty much the same?
A few years ago, I took apart a different model of Logitech 7.1 surround headphones and that one had a lot more wires, because in each ear piece there were several "speakers" (since discrete 7.1 surround). With those ones, since the batteries were shot anyway as well as pretty much breaking apart (plastics) I didn't bother fixing those. I should mention, the problem with those was a broken wire... the one that goes from the electronics side, through the head strap into the other side. What a pain to release all that.

Going to try this now, do you also know how to fix the cable jack? When I plug this headset into a controller the sounds goes low and only works abit when I wriggle the cable in the port, but it always goes silent again within a few seconds.

What I did was take it all apart and used contact cleaner on the switch. when i put it back together i also pushed in the circuit board all the way down so it was level to the plastic switch. i then glued the board to the plastic clear things that go through the holes in it. hope that helps anyone

i received the g935 already with sticky/bumpy switch sometimes makes the audio come from a single side (which is weird and can't confirm it) so i kept it on all time and if goes to off mode due ti inactivity i turn it on using the the usb power... without touching the button.

I just took out the plastic switch and broke off the part of the housing holding it, so now there's just a hole in the headset where you the actual electrical power switch is...
it ain't pretty, but it works and I bought the headset used for 15$ because of this exact fault anyway

Yeah, just compressed air would be better if it’s just a dirty switch. Also, the other video used contact cleaner not straight wd-40. The contact cleaner would not leave the same kind of oily film that collects dust and dirt. Contact cleaner is really meant for oil gunkfilled connectors and is overkill for this application.

before opening up and everything try this easy fix first:
    disconnect battery
    hold headphones upside down
spam the power switch a bunch on and off
    reconnect battery and test

is it possible that using WD40 causes a constant, albeit faint static/white noise in the background? My power button does work now properly but I wonder if this issue with the static noise was caused by me being an idiot and using WD40 instead of contact cleaner or the issue had been already present before applying the "fix" I just didn't notice it because it's so faint.
