    I have the 935 and after two years started getting the "one speaker on until you jiggle the power button" issue. Did a thorough clean following this video and the headset is like new. Thank you for this fix!
    For those wishing to do this on a pair of 935's, a few things:
    *The board with the power switch is difficult to take out and you will need to undo two additional screws inside which hold the translucent light cover.
    *I used alcohol on a lense cleaning cloth and utilized a mini flathead screw driver to ensure a thorough clean.
    *The metal springy pins on the actual power switch will pop out if you are not careful. Take caution if you attempt to clean them.
    *Take your time and be gentle with everything.

    Worked great! I do have a few tips for people going to attempt this:
    1. Always disconnect the battery before opening up electronics
    2. Be extremely careful and don't force anything
    3. The metal contacts in the black plastic block can and will fall out. Make sure you have a (white) clean workspace so they're easy to spot.

    I figured I would try this fix. I have a G633 and a G635 headset, both with the same issues. On these headphones since they are wired, the switch isn't power, it's a switch between 3.5mm and USB. I replaced the G633 with the G635 after this issue became so bad that it wasn't worth dealing with but I never threw it away. I am happy to say this fixed BOTH of them completely. When I cleaned the contacts, nothing actually came off of them but they worked when I put them back together. I still waited a few days just in case there was still a bit of alcohol that didn't evaporate and that was the only reason it worked better but now 4 days later, I can even wiggle the switch around with no drop out of audio on either speaker. Thank you for the quick, informal and to the point video.

  • @kayjay7585
    @kayjay7585 3 года назад +4

    IT WORKED! You don't need to open the switch at 1:12! You can just spray with contact-cleaner/deoxidizer OR pour a few drops of 99.9% alcohol and then flip the switch up and down a bunch of times. (you can usually get 100ml of 99.9% isopropyl alcohol at the pharmacy for around 1dollar/euro).

    TLDR: This worked like a charm!
    I''ve had these headphones for such a long time. They have endured a lot, and I'm majorly impressed. But they slowly stared developing the usual symptoms for them. The power switch jiggle was becoming more and more annoying. I watched your other video where you simply lube it, and I found a comment saying you made one where you open and clean the switch instead. What a quick and easy repair. They are behaving the same now as they did when I got them. I also took the opportunity to lube the creaky joints, and clean out some broken rattly plastic bits that just sorta appeared... Thank you so much for the 2 quick guides. Saved me from a lot of annoyance (and spending money)!
    Word of caution. Be gentle and take care when rubbing the plastic part of the power switch (the part that moves). The little wires are not glued in, and I almost lost 2 of them.

    I have a year-ish old G935, and its power switch has been skewing to only my left ear. This did work. As a warning to anyone else trying this, the teeny-tiny wires in the switch piece you pop out are not very well attached, and trying to clean them with the alcohol pad may make them pop out and deform. There were some harrowing minutes trying to get them back in and lined up. I'd also suggest just leaving the damn things on once you've fixed them, instead of flipping the switch regularly and having to do this again in a few months...

    For those who can't get their headset to power back on, it's most likely your blue flat cable. It has to "snap on" properly and clamp onto the blue flat cable securely. If you can tug on the cable gently and it comes out, then it's not secure. Ensure you line up the cable before closing the flap to lock it in.

    Works great, thanks heaps for this vid! I have a G935 that suffered from the same problem. The flat cable was attached to the underside of the circuit board, so I couldn't remove it (not easily, at least), so I just let it sit and worked my way around it. Also, the battery appeared to be soldered tightly to the headset wires, so I wasn't able to remove it at all before I started working on the headset. Other than that, the steps are exactly the same, with the same result: a fine-working headset once more! (which should never have suffered from this issue in the first place, though, but that's on Logitech)

    For the people that lost the small pins/wires on the back. They are replaceable by using copper wire by cutting one of your old spare wires and bending it in place (very fiddley use all the tools you can e.g tweezers etc) after this give the surface a careful wipe AND FROM NOW ON leave it in the on position. Go into your Logitech Ghub software and set the standby mode from the default 5 minutes to never. if your headset does turn off plugging your usb charging wire should turn it back on.

      I just soldered 3x2 pins (right/left headphone) to "always on". Last 2 pins (middle ones for powering on) hooked up to custom on/off switch - the way it should be since the beggining. Don't bother repairing this crap Logitech's switch. Just replace it with proper, solid one.

    Worked like a charm! My headset now works like never before! I prefer this method over the other ones where you spray a bunch of contact cleaner, cleaning like this is way more precise.
    Kind of stupid though that logitech makes products like these that go faulty after a year or 2 due to "dust buildup" it's like they want you to buy a new one every 2 years.

    It worked like magic. I think there are already few people who pointed out but two things to be clear.
    1. The switch black part is mostly very worn out when you use an old g933, mine broke immediately from side, when tried to detach.
    I bent the metal part slightly where two pointy edges are and it went in and was good enough to hold.
    2. The switch itself has 4 coils inside, and that too, can fall out. So beware if you see some weird copper wire, that was probably from the switch.

    The "switch holder" which fixes the switch, breaks also very fast. Maybe you have to bend it a bit, in cause of deformed it at disembly.

    I went mad when i understood the issues was from hardware only 3 days after warranty end, as i was suspecting/investigating software/driver for months...

  • @The9thMonth
    @The9thMonth 3 года назад +1

    I wasn't having huge issues but I was suspecting that the switch could be the cause of some odd things (rarely had issues with sound). It's been about 2-3 years since I bought it and apart from a few software issues, I never had any problems. I did this solution today and oh boy it does work like brand-new. There was quite the corrosion/build up on the contacts. I'll leave a few remarks about the process if anyone in the future considers to attempt this. Thanks to Igor Lacerda for the video!
    1. I used WD-40 with a Q-tip (also used pieces of folded toilet paper). The switch box doesn't collect dust whatsoever so WD-40 is viable. It's not the best choice for other electronics if they can come in contact with dust/particles.
    2. The 4 prongs/contacts on the switch itself may fall out so you have to be careful. You can remove the piece by reversing to prevent them from falling. Same when you need to put them in. Just put it in reverse so the prongs are looking up with no chance of falling.
    3. Be careful about the speaker cables. They are VERY thin. Make sure you don't pull them hard when working on the device.
    4. Remember to be gentle with the circuitry. You never know what might bend or break. Never use force unless it's absolutely necessary.
    5. The wheel has a tiny PLASTIC pin in it that holds the circuit board from going free. You do need moderate force to pry it from the plastic that holds it in place and the pin. Be careful when doing so or you might break the pin and make the wheel dysfunctional. Putting it back is also a hassle but still not very hard.
    6. Always remove the battery/ies when working on devices that have batteries.
    The whole process should take around 20-30 minutes depending on corrosion build-up. I had to clean mine a lot so it probably took 30+ minutes. Good luck!
