I'm an old school raver ( started going to events in 99) and even back then you could see the almost metaphysical fight beween PLUR (peace, love, unity & respect) and what i liked to call the 3Ds ( Dance, Drugs & Doin' it) . Naturally, one is all about selfish hedonism and the other builds a movement. Obviously there are many differences in culture between the different music scenes and locales in which you are partying ( esp as electronic music in general went a lot more mainstream in europe ) . Even around here to see fullon Kandi people at parties has become rarer ( just like old school glowstick ravers like me are now almost extinct) but i think it's great that "Kandiness" and PLUR in general is still present at the huge festivals. Keep on party rockin' ladies...

I've seen Kandi around and decided to get stuff to make some, I'm not big into raves and such, but I'm probably gonna make some of my favorite artists, shows, interests etc.
This is so cool! It reminds me of things like rubber ducking in Jeep community. I’m just now learning about Kandi because I’ve never really been into big music festival scene (I’m a stay in with tea and cats kind of queer, what can I say?) The only time I’ve gotten to be a part of something like that is at cons; something that some folks would bring or make some little object related to their cosplay or the con that they’d give out to the folks they thought were cool. Like a guy in a Minecraft creeper costume gave me a tiny hand painted cube of TNT after we talked on the elevator. I would love to see something like this spread into pride parade circles, just because it would fit so well. Obviously we couldn’t just bring Kandi in because that’s rave culture and we appreciate/not appropriate around here. But just more forms of sharing little tokens during events that share more fun and love in the community! ❤❤❤❤
can you put any words (not offensive) in kandi? because i’m new to it and i’ve put characters i like, animal names (like tiger, dog, ext.), and other words. also thanks for making this video it helped me understand kandi more :)
of course! you can honestly put anything down, but I would try and stay away from non offensive words just because PC culture is a thing now. Defs back then there were a lot of things on kandi but the world has changed now
i personally LOVE making kandi that matches with someone’s outfit, like “kitty kat” for someone wearing cat ears, “level up” for mario characters (there’s always some in my state) or “princess/queen” for someone wearing a tiara, but ultimately the important thing is just having fun!! and having something to give someone who vibe with at a show really helps spread the good vibes that raves are known for💖
Some day you'll be old enough to go and then you'll have tons to trade!!! PLUR is for EVERYONE and if people start sharing it when they're pre-festival age, we'll create a better world!! Also, look for all age EDM events so you can start experiencing PLUR at the age you are now!! ❤ ✌🏻🫶🏻👏🏻🤝🏻
@gabriellagloria_ Great video!! I just shared it worth someone on the Over 40 Ravers page who asked me what EDMans PLUR were... this was the PERFECT video to share with her!! ✌🏻🫶🏻👏🏻🤝🏻

One thing I wanna ask is if I should be nervous no one is trading or no one else is taking bracelets to a concert, im going to a Pierce the veil concert and I plan to make kandi bracelets ( if my kit comes in time ) cause I really want to do Kandi bracelets but im nervous
I wouldn't know about a PTV concert but I know most raves/edm type events for sure. Yoooo please tell me how the concert is after, I'm so friggin jealous I've wanted to see them live for the past 8 years 😭
@@haileyp.7352 it was okay, it was not like how I expected, because of ALOT of things went wrong, first I got lost finding my friend, but I did manage to snag a poster before the concert, after the concert merch was sold out pretty much, but when I was in my seat before Pierce the veil went on they played a mariachi song called “ el Rey “ and I was singing it and I got some weird ass stares from people next to me and I kind of got bothered by a comment someone made honestly, the girl next to me said “ didn’t think she was Mexican “ while giving me dirty looks, like I got so triggered, cause she was seeing a band that is literally Mexican, yet she was hating on me for being Mexican, it was a whole thing bruh, maybe I’ll get better luck next time, the ptv fans I met were nice, but the people I sat with were so freaking rude for no reason unprovoked
It makes me so sad that this was your experience 😢 This has not been my experience at any EDM events...but PTV is not EDM, so the crowd was probably the super emo/metal/punk and likely not understanding your vibe. @@justsuzy321don’t hate on them for making bracelets! As long as they don’t say they invented bracelet trading culture and are not toxic about it, it’s ok for them to trade bracelets.

I hope you had a GREAT time!! I missed it this year due to an ankle injury, but will, God-willing, be back scanning bracelets next year!!!
