Gotta give it up for just the cinematography of this production. That visceral camera style is a unique signature. Loved your elated reactions to the power and Ayesha's to discovering the heated armrests. But the sound of that inline 6 definitely punches above it's weight with typical AMG swagger.

Great review Ben, I love your (joint) enthusiasm for the car. I have a black E43 with the same interior and think it's a much more luxurious trim than the sportier black with red stripes. The steering wheel knobs are similar to what I had on recent Porsches (both Panamera and a 911 992) and they are nice and easy to use. On the Porsches, pushing the middle of the knob gives you a 15 second power boost too :-) Compared to Porsche, AMG cars are great value.
As I’m subbing just a little suggestion allow the transmission to shift on its on in addition to using the paddles when driving spiritedly. I’m a manual car owner this is still basically a luxury vehicle and seeing the transmissions response to pedal input is more important to how the car actually responds in every day driving most people don’t even use the paddles still another excellent review.
Mercedes ain't playing around! $85k seems reasonable for this level of performance and excellence, especially considering that a new Chevy Tahoe or GMC Yukon Denali can easily top $70k. Let it be said- a Chevy and a Mercedes are not in the same universe.
Great review but still undecided if I should get this one or the CLA 45 or the CLS 53 but it looks very convincing because both have the sporty ride and the comfy ride. And there is more headroom in the back. Here in Thailand all 3 cost more or less the same. The CLA 45 has the most powerful 2 liter, 4 cylinder engine but I also suspect it's gonna work harder than an inline 6. What would you choose ?
I think the CLA 45 has a more sporty side due to the shorter wheelbase and features a true handcrafted AMG powerplant. Both are fun, if I had to choose I would go with the E53 due to its larger size.

I think it's more so to elevate the lesser models up to full AMG status however I agree... Instead of just grafting the Panamericana grille on, they should create a unique one for the mid level AMGs.

The only problem with this car is the badge. It's lovely all around, it's just not a real AMG. PS I think this is the first video of the face-lifted E53 sedan on RUclips.

@@cywoods60 in my days, they were called the AMG/Sport package 😁. Honestly, that's the only problem with this car. AMG's philosophy is one man, one engine. They even give you a plaque on the engine. Does this one have it? 😉

It has the AMG enhanced engine with EQ boost, AMG performance 4 matic plus all wheel drive, AMG Speedshift TCT 9 speed transmission, AMG Dynamic select, AMG drive unit, AMG sports suspension based on air body control, AMG Performance braking system, AMG 20 inch wheels, AMG performance steering wheel in Nappa leather and AMG sport exhaust system. Those items make it a AMG.

Reason I love it is because the other AMGs would kill you way way easier. So it’s a different type of amg than the twitchy v8s. Less shouty and if you drive it next to the e400 you’d instantly see what the amg work has done other than give 435 hp. Many petrol he don’t agree as simply put they struggle with change & progress.
Not really an amg... sorry.. but its a marketing ploy by mercedes.. However I have driven one, and it was a nice overall car. unfortunately for the E53 that I drove I arrived in my 2018 SL63 and left in my SL63, and the E53 didnt have me convinced it was an AMG. however I would suspect most people who go in and buy one of these tell all their friends they bought an AMG when in fact they bought a really nicely put together luxury, somewhat sporty sedan, with and AMG badge on it.

@@softroseforyou7457 is absolutely right. I owned a so-called original AMG and this one qualifies just fine. In fact it is almost a second faster to 60 than my big V8 AMG was. Does a 629hp car accelerate faster than a 429hp car with the same basic body, gee you think? That does not make the E55 any less of an AMG.

No it's not... Only the 63s, 45s, and 8 cylinder AMG GT 2/4 doors are hand built.
