  • I met these young Iranian Metal enthusiasts at a public park in the mountains above Tehran. My friend Jesse and I talk with them about religion, music and culture. Even though there was quite a bit of a language barrier, we had fun relating to each other. I liked these guys. Before I started filming they were playing some favorite songs for me through their mp3 players.

Im just waiting for when somebody gets the barbeque fired up and cooks some kebab, then you can get the party started. When I was in Iran a year or so back all kinds of music are listened to and watched at peoples homes via satellite. I felt really safe in this city but ate too much and made loads of friends. Damit Garm to Iranian people.

I am from a country which was a part of India once and I agree with you 100%. The only reason we English is taught rigorously in our countries (Bangladesh, Pakistan and India) is because we were the bitches of UK once. In fact, in my native country of Bangladesh, Farsi was spoken widely before the fucking colonization....I wish we still spoke farsi like we used to. Farsi is the most romantic language I ever heard.

Somehow this video touched my heart,i am Iranian living in Australia for almost 18 years.is it fair that Iranian young generation forced to live and think like an 80 years old fashioned and i think no matter how hard you try to see this on this young and friendly faces still hard to capture what is really hurting them an inside out,but Iranian people carry very strange culture, and this kind of Iranian cultural still forced them to hold up the pain and hide it inside but act happy and fulfilled.

CHris Henniker They don't need pirate radio, they have computers and the internet. With a little ingenuity they can easily get around the censorship or get black market stuff downloaded from the net. However, they can't perform any non-religious or non-military music in public because Khomeini banned it and the ban has never been lifted.

olehomer88 i kinda agree but honestly it's not coming from hate it's because of the lies media has told us for so many years. i mean a lot of iranian people basically grow up with it.but it's starting to change because with all the social media that people are involved with now, they can finally understand the truth.as you may know we are not the first country when it comes to technology so for many years the only source we had was the things government wanted us to believe .

As an American of Persian decent, I can tell you the two main guys (the one smoking and the one with the black wrist band) are Persian. The reason that they may not look as "white" as you might think is because Iran can get very hot and is sunny a lot, and everyone is always tan. Take a Persian to London for a year and he'll be white as a sheet.

"To be governed is to be watched, inspected, spied upon, directed, law-driven, numbered, regulated, enrolled, indoctrinated, preached at, controlled, checked, estimated, valued, censured, commanded, by creatures who have neither the right nor the wisdom nor the virtue to do so. To be governed is to be at every operation, at every transaction noted, registered, counted, taxed, stamped, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, authorized, admonished, prevented, forbidden, reformed, corrected, punished.
It is, under pretext of public utility, and in the name of the general interest (that we are) drilled, fleeced, exploited, monopolized, extorted from, squeezed, hoaxed, robbed; then, at the slightest resistance, the first word of complaint, to be repressed, fined, vilified, harassed, hunted down, abused, clubbed, disarmed, bound, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported, sacrificed, sold, betrayed; and to crown all, mocked, ridiculed, derided, outraged, dishonored. That is government; that is its justice; that is its morality." ~ Pierre-Joseph Proudhon (1809-1865), quoted from "What is Government ?"

Yeah.. sorry if I was a little too harsh. And I've been to India (Mysore, Bangalore and Goa), but still stereotyping all Indians based on what I might have occasionally come across is wrong.
What I generally like about most Indians I’ve met is their calmness. We Iranians have a li’l bad temper sometimes.. hehe

In fact what they say are really interesting specially when try to understand what you say because they have some problem understanding words like 'interested' and they think you mean "Do you trust Islam?" and when they say 'no' they mean they don't have any respect for it!
