Hi friends, was curious what low-cost lodging is like but since you were couch surfing, we'll have to wait until next time. Cheers, thanks for a brilliant tour!
Hi Teresita 😊. Low cost accommodation unfortunately doesn't really exist in Dubai 😔 with hostels not really an option for couples and the cheapest rooms on booking around $40 a night. Couchsurfing was great fun and an awesome way of meet people here. 😊 ~ Lee
It really is such a fascinating side of this incredibly modern city! I just wish we'd eaten more delicious Indian food there as it was so tasty and definitely budget-friendly! ~ Mandy 😀😁
Hi, Mandy and Lee 👋🏼😊 I hadn't had an interest in Dubai but peeked in to see what you found to do and see on a budget... Was not disappointed! and i learned that their mass transit (includung creek crossings) is very affordable, your breakfast and dinner looked yummy and filling, and the older part of the city is far more interesting to me than what i perceived Dubsi to be. So glad i tagged along 😊👍🏼.
That's absolutely wonderful to hear, Ruth, and it's exactly what we were hoping for... that we could show people a completely unexpected side to Dubai! There was no way we could go straight to the bright lights and glossy side of Dubai first off... and even when we do go there in a future video, it's still with our own brand of frugal travel 😁😊 It's always so lovely to hear from you, and we so appreciate your wonderful feedback! 🙏😀😁 ~ Mandy
I am trying to catch up with Mandy and Lee. WOW! Dubai is beautiful and clean. The food looks good and thank you for sharing good place that are reasonable price. The metro system is not complicate and good price.
Hi Sue. Great that you are catching up with our Middle East videos. There'll be quite a few to come. 😁. We enjoyed Dubai far more than expected and it was nice to discover there are options to travel and eat on a budget there. Such an interesting place to see. 👍☺️ ~ Lee
You might regret not actually seeing the inside of Ibn Battuta mall. The word "mall" might feel intimidating, given the nature of your vlogs, but you would have been pleasantly surprised at what's waiting for you inside.
Hello Nikolay. I'm sure you'll be pleased to hear that, thanks to the advice of our Couchsurfing host Akash, we did end up visiting the Ibn Battuta mall! Check out this video to see our Impression of it: ruclips.net/video/efzBZ2CedYA/видео.html Thank you for sharing your feedback, we really appreciate it! ~ Mandy 😀😁
A lot of these houses date to the 17th and 18th century, of course they have been renovated and made into tourists attractions. I toured Dubai way back in 1981 and back then, there were actually people living in these houses still. ALso that Dubai hindu temple is from the 1950s
We really enjoyed the fascinating architecture and the feel of the place. It would have been amazing to witness people living normal lives there in such a place. It had a wonderful atmosphere. ❤️
Fascinating! This is a side of Dubai that is usually not shown.
Glad you liked it. 😊. This side of Dubai is far more us than the shiny, glamorous side. 😆. It's very diverse when you explore a bit deeper. 👍
And thank you, Carolina, for prompting us to change the title... as the original First Impressions one didn't quite fit! 🙏 ~ Mandy 😁😀
