I love watching them pull. The horses always seem so excited.

They were built for pulling, and not all the owners send their horses to slaughter. I'm sure a lot of them keep their horses or rehome them. I't is only less than a minute of intense pulling and just like human athletes, they are built up to this in their training.

I used to go to this fair as a kid back in the 70s and 80s. Do they still have horse pulls there

Big beautiful belgins, and shires Some of those teams couldn't even budge them, and they kept adding more weight? oy. Mr. "GET IT! GET IT! GET IT!" better feed his team better it looks like. They did pretty good still.

No silly flared hooves here like in the Clydesdale halter classes. Yay!

So how heavy are these sleds?

  • @lexikent1625

yes they were built for pulling but the real question is do they want to. 5:58 do their hooves hurt or are they old or just lazy.

They did well. The load was heavier and they had already pulled many times.

They need a forklift to put the barrels on the sled? How do they expect the horses to move it?!

I can push my car but I can't lift it. To move the sled all the horses need to do is overcome friction, which takes a lot less effort than lifting the same weight.

I don't think a 2 hp motor can pull that.

If you see NY horse pulling, its way more inhumane. Those horses pull till they break a leg.

I find Americans cruel to horse especially in Texas. Or rodeo some shit like that anyway I work with schooling ponies not draught horses. As much as I would love to though.
