With Venezuelan Spanish a thing that fucks with me, is that I can identify them even if their accent is slight. I *know* the accent. I can't reproduce it for my life. My gf is Spanish and Venezuelan (lived in both places, her accent is Venezuelan though) and I can't for the life of me reproduce it, despite being able to identify what makes it different than others. I can even tell what town people are from sometimes. My grandparents were Puerto Rican, so I refer to myself as a defective heritage speaker. Because even though I'm a learner, pronunciation was never an issue for me, and I started out with more knowledge of the language than others... But doing accents is not my skill rn and I really wanna
Some people are naturally better at imitating accents than others. Even if it’s not a strength of yours, anyone could achieve it if they do some deliberate practice and take it at their own pace.
Anyone know where I can find the words that PR Spanish replaces? Ex: dinero-chavó. Also if I put my iPhone into “PR Spanish” is it really in PR Spanish or is it just Spanish.
What is your favorite resource?

I mean if you want to learn more church turns, you can watch sermons in Spanish and SPanish Christian music. I like 116. I like maverick city music (the Spanish version) other than that I just listen to the popular christian songs from English in Spanish. As far as sermons, Hector Delgado de PR. I like a church called NH sermones (Nuevo Horizonte) i think they are in Atlanta. There is Casa church here in Miami.

I thought my Spanish was good until I moved to Puerto rico and found it is a bit diffrent and can take some time to get used too. Dominican Spanish is even more difficult

Just so you know, I really appreciate you as a Black American and what you have accomplished in Spanish. It gives me hope. Just wanted to make a little correction. Le Juan James' mother is NOT Boricua. She is Dominican. His FATHER is Puerto Rican. Le Juan has more of a Dominican flavor.
I was going to say the same about his mom.
I want to learn Puerto Rican Spanish because that’s what my grandfather spoke. I don’t know neutral Spanish. Would it be easier to learn neutral Spanish first and than Puerto Rican Spanish or to jump straight into Puerto Rican spanish
It's all the same spanish, it's just the accents and the regional phrases that you have to also learn.
Do you have one of these videos or could you do one for Cuban Spanish?
My next video features Cuban Spanish, but don't worry there will be one of these videos for every type 👌🏾 I do have a cuban accent video and a couple Cuba vlogs on the channel. Check them out!
@ yeah I’ve seen them, they’re great! This is a super helpful video so I’m happy to see the Cuban Spanish one up next 🙌🏼
I left PR when I was a tween and I'm looking to improve my Spanish as an adult. I'm not a beginner, but I'm also not advanced. I'm super rusty and looking for maybe a language program that can meet me where I'm at. Do you have any resources that might help?
I teach Spanish! Many of my students want me to teach the Puerto Rican Spanish, and I do! : ). Sign up for sessions with me bilinguespanish.as.me
I’m not go lie putting the names on the screen would help but I found most of them
When he said " you think that you' re all that in the beginning. How do you write that in spanish.
Tú estás guillao
Not gonna lie papi no te voy a mintire tu eres bien duro, lo Encanta. Tu eres redicula
