I keep thinking about all the skills you need to make these videos.... carpentry, electric, photography, video editing, sound design, recording, taking apart drums, playing drums... a lot of goals haha great job
I watched this video and ordered on of the arms you suggested. Really useful, thanks for the rebate code. I then saw we both have similar ceilings, and got this brilliant idea inspired by your video: I hooked the mic arm, upside down from the ceiling and use it as a overhead stand. Clears room around the kit nicely.
I’ve just gotten into drumming after 20 years of playing guitar. I like your vibe man. It’s like fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies and bong rips all wrapped up in a blanket. Thanks for the neat videos. Subbed 👍
Thanks man, I just picked up one of those boom stands. I'm moving soon and will need the floor space in my new studio. Not having to find a spot for my boom mic is going to be great!
Looking awesome! I think next you gotta build some shelving/storage for all them extra drums. Those things are piling up, need to make some room for more $20 drum kits
David, have you considered doing a video where you show off your mic setup, and how you mix them? Maybe also do a comparison between just overheads; snare/bass/hats; overheads, snare, bass and hats; and a full-kit mic setup? I'm trying to learn as much as I can about mic setups before I venture forth into doing it myself. Great video as always,
You need to tell in the next update in you lose things easier on the new rug. Might be the case! A sound test in also very welcome, reference for changes. Keep up the good stuff, cheers!
I actually really dig contrasting color temperature. I do it all the time when filming videos at work. Key light with tungsten, backlight with daylight, and white balance at around 4200k
Nice acrolite, my school has one that isn't on the inventory list (some student must have left it there a while ago), so I was thinkin about using it on my home kit
Yo man, i think it could be cool to show the more technical side like you’re mic selection, how you mix and stuff like that. All the nerdy stuff basically! Keep up the dope videos man
Serious question. Any suggestions for the ceiling for a semi detached? I bought these blankets but need a similar option for the ceiling. Thanks, rdavidr
Nice videos buddy! Very inspirasional. In my opinion acousticly wise you will get a much better sound if you put your kit in the length of the room, giving it much more breathing space for the reflections.
Hey rdavidr Have you ever experimented with your drum kit and changed its position for example positioned them so your kit is facing down the longest part of the room? Then done a recording and did a comparison?
Just be careful when using old fixtures for direct drive bulbs as some fixtures “tombstones “ or sockets can not handle the extra voltage created by bipassing the ballast which puts out small amounts of voltage “usually 12v” it could in some cases be a fire hazard, they do however sell the direct drive tombstones and they are easily installed

I'm a simple man, I see an rdavidr video and I drop WHATEVER I'm doing to watch it.
Please don't post videos while I'm on the highway anymore.

Have you noticed how organized and clean rdavidr is when working and storage?, even when storage garbage.
Your background music is like the music they put on during Adult Swim commercials.
Persian styled rugs for music gear will never go out of fashion
The best beard on RUclips.
Danny Chiolan Fo sho
Hmmmm... Jake Bowen though
Dude, you ain't seen DrkSydeB's beard then. One of the best youtube beards.
Beard baron wins easy
Pewdiepie has a better one in my opinion
This reminds me that I need money
Ha that’s a good one
Have you gotten money yet?
@@layz_gaming_4275 some, not even close enough to buy all those things
@@P40l0C0nt3How about now? Any closer?
This guy is honestly better at home repairs than he is drumming 😂
That's stuff you can do by yourself ...
For some people setting all this stuff up is half the fun!
I think his drumming is pretty good too
the prep should be just as fun as the playing!!
Braydon Miller he's pretty good at both.. But yes
New rug looks sweet. Studio is looking really nice man. Was stoked to see a new video! One of my fav channels! Much love!
That rug really ties the room together.
that rug really ties the whole room together
Tbh I don't play drums but your videos are pretty rad. And I love the music you make. It's so chill and it works so well with your videos
Killer rug sir, really ties the room together.
For a drum channel that is growing, he is gotta be the best. Great commentary over the video and also great improvements on the studio.
Andy YT don't forget the most important parts of his channel. The rug, the beard, and the fact that he can find almost anything under $100.
That rug dude! Nice! Also - great work with the lighting! Rock on!
You’re my favorite person on RUclips so it’s like a blessing every time you post a vid

Looking awesome! I think next you gotta build some shelving/storage for all them extra drums. Those things are piling up, need to make some room for more $20 drum kits

Great video David
Hell yea dude good looking out with that mic arm promo code
Should've done black light tubes instead.
I was triggered by the sound of the screw hitting the floor. Thanks a ton. 😬

I really dig the vids!
Oh dang son, we got the same vacuum. Haha. But seriously, good video, from a good dude. Keep up the good work. Love the videos.
I actually really dig contrasting color temperature. I do it all the time when filming videos at work. Key light with tungsten, backlight with daylight, and white balance at around 4200k
yeah white balance and color temp is something im still learning about. and struggling with haha
Can't wait til you get 100k
Dope ending track
Really liking the music in this, would be cool if you could do a video explaining a little more about it sometime.
I honestly would watch Dave repair his house on RUclips
U dropped the screw 2 times David!!......jezzzzzz:)
Nice acrolite, my school has one that isn't on the inventory list (some student must have left it there a while ago), so I was thinkin about using it on my home kit
0:39 that's one sexy amp
Nice Studio bro!!! What kind of music do you record and what's your rates??
3:48 I have that same light fixture over the couch in the living room.
Where'd ya get the rug from? Looks dope
I've been having difficulty finding a drum rug I like. Where did you find that one? Looks awesome.
Sick beats
Hello from Russia! Your videos are very interesting and funny, thank you for your work!
I LOVE THE LEGENDARY WHALE SOUND INTRO
Yo man, i think it could be cool to show the more technical side like you’re mic selection, how you mix and stuff like that. All the nerdy stuff basically! Keep up the dope videos man
hey thx for the tips, but what camera/lens do you use? (and which settings) thx
Make a giant drum kit with all of your drums!
Where did you buy the black drum rug from?
Dig the black rug. Where’d you get that one or did you make it? What size?
Serious question. Any suggestions for the ceiling for a semi detached? I bought these blankets but need a similar option for the ceiling. Thanks, rdavidr
Can u do a video of what u have set up as far as recording gear and what you use it for?
Nice videos buddy! Very inspirasional. In my opinion acousticly wise you will get a much better sound if you put your kit in the length of the room, giving it much more breathing space for the reflections.
The studio is looking really nice man, congratulations! What's that black box behind the drum throne?
Did you shell for some 90+ CRI bulbs? More important that color temp in my opinion for video/photo work.
Hey rdavidr! I was just wondering.. What's that brown snare with black hardware you have? (0:29)
Hey rdavidr just wondering did you get drum lessons or did you learn yourself? if you learned yourself how long did you get lessons for?
thanks
congrats on 100K man whens the 100K subs vid coming out?
Lol I use a red rug with black wall as well (its just a great color scheme) but I have a plain crimson red rug throughout the entire studip
What if you make some shelving for all of your drum equipment? Kinda like what I have seen done for snare drums?
Do you think you could do a video where you drill a bunch of holes into a cymbal to take away a lot of sound like the zildjian L80 cymbals?
Saludos desde Argentina :)
Can you please provide a link to the Persian style rug? Or brand/where you got it?
Hey rdavidr
Have you ever experimented with your drum kit and changed its position for example positioned them so your kit is facing down the longest part of the room? Then done a recording and did a comparison?
Everything looks great man! How do like that drum throne? I need to get a new one honestly... I'm tilting to the right... 😂😧😒
Now I know you are an engineer
What’s the size of your drum rug?
3:15 the little things make a huge difference 😎
Is this sound from beginning from Spore?

Dope
I've meant to ask you before, is that a bjj background on your right side monitor?
You could try steam the curtains to get rid of those creases and folds, would look a lot less DIY that way
keep it ud dave its my bday !!!!!
Why didn't you paint the ceiling before installing the new fixtures? By the way, the rug is great.
Yo D, great Vids, im colonial heights and work in richmond, do you do production lessons?
