@@peterzang They didn't like the less punk Paul and maybe his work with the Replacements can never be beat by any band, but his solo work is still better than 99% of the albums out even in the good years of music ..
@thehohdotcom drummer josh freese is one of the biggest session drummers in punk rock and has played with everybody from devo to weezer to guns n roses to the nine inch nails. dave minnehan was good enough to be a replacement guitarist for aerosmith when people couldn't make it on tour. the bassist is now his manager. while it was his solo tour, they really sounded like a fabulous BAND.
I was lucky enough to catch him at the Whiskey in Hollywood at one of two legendary shows he did there. They played all the good ones, Alex Chilton, etc. Their cover of Daydream Believer was so unbelievably good you would have thought it was one of Westerberg's songs. What a band.
Fun Fact: His little brother, Jason has been a hired gun for Green Day for like 15 + years maybe? and tons of other artist as well, but Green Day seem to show him off forsure
Awesome footage. I never realized a friend of mine looks a lot like Paul Westerberg! Westerberg grumpy Dad. With all his injuries it's great he is still writing, playing and recording. Small shows he has a remote controller and his at a bar watching Hockey or other sports as he plays music at breaks and with others on couches and other casual cigar shops. Wrote Nr Westerberg on the past and he doesnt often respond but when he does always a wonderful moment. Never a world class Fade as he often plays in the good examples. Bob Stinson's Ghost still playing with Chis Mars, Songvand Slim. Tommy is mostly everywhere but that's a great thing.
@@mrrabbittv6646 I have Chris Mars's Brother's home adress as I try to send him Christmas and other cards. Sometimes I do and some times I forget. Like songs For Slim I submitt or send to the best addresses available to me. Thanks Sincerely, Kenny
14 songs! As an album: Brilliant! As for world class fad, intense and appropriate for all of that teen angst out there losing it's mind and exploding hormonal all over the place!
Interesting how people keep mentioning that this song is a tribute to Kurt Cobain, who, in 1993 was neither dead nor passe. If it is indeed a tribute, then it is also a tribute to Paulie's penchant for prescience. If "World Class Fad" is about Cobain it was probably meant as a cautionary message to KC at the time. A message that was not taken to heart apparently.
Saw Westerberg at Slim's in SF in 93 with this lineup. I thought the lead guitarist jumped around way to much and was rather obnoxious and distracting and really should have been playing in a hair metal band. Saw Westerberg again in Seattle in the summer 96 with Tommy Keene playing second guitar- now that was a class act and a great band/tour!!!
This is Dave Minehan, who (along with Josh) was in the most recent version of the Replacements (and sounded great--saw them in Toronto on their first comeback show and later on in Philly). I also saw this lineup in Orlando around '93 and I thought they were great. Waiting for Somebody knocked you against the wall in those days.
Their first album wasn't so bad. In fact I thought it was pretty damn good. But after that, they kinda plummeted downhill. And no, they were not some corporate invention deigned to be the next logical step from guns n roses. That's one of the dumbest, evidence-ridden statements I've ever read.
This is a warning to all of us against driving or about Paul's fear of succumbing to what it takes to be a success .. Like the song "Things" could have been a big hit but it had a sad ending or was sad throughout and the girls don't like that. They want to be the ones to screw guys over and leave and tell me You'll be a song i sing someday.. lol so few women can write great songs. Hynde maybe Laura Nyro. Christ Adelle and Taylor Swift have talent sure but theIR damn songs mean nothing. NOTHING. NOTHING.
This guy makes me proud of being an American.
This is what's known as rock n' roll, kids!
deebee76 For Real! Why do they give Paul such a hard time?

Paul Westerberg has such a great sense of melody. I love the little things he does. It makes it even more worth listening to live performances.
K this drummer is insanely awesome
Josh Freese is his name
Well that's the best Version of that 🎵 song !!! EVER .
Might be my favorite of Paul's solo songs. Yes, great band lineup. I saw them on this tour in Iowa City and the show was incredible!
WoWow, this is a terrific performance and that drummer is killing it.
No one can replace iconic drummers....except Josh Freese.
I fucking love the pure energy of this live performance

The drummer cares. I love it!
Best live show I've ever seen, Paul at St. Andrew's Hall in Detroit, touring 14 Songs. Incredible.

They had never heard nothing like this on that show then or since. Killing it.❤
Best live performance ever

Dave Minehan from The Neighborhoods kicking some royal ass.
Josh Freese was one of the great hired guns from that era.
+Joshua Mann all of his group on this tour were great together. it felt like a real band.

I saw Tommy play at 7th Street Entry last winter before everything shut down. What fun to see him in that tiny (legendary) room.

Perfect ,,,,just perfect
He is American. His rock n’ roll he makes is American. Amen.🙏♾️🇺🇸🎸🎤
They've always said this song is about Cobain. Westerberg said it wasn't but that he heard Cobain for a fact thought it was
Paul is a true rock legend.
Lovely.🎉
This video is fantastic.
The guitar player sings and plays his ass off on this tune

That host looks like he wants some grey poupon at the end.
@NBTY4ever no that's Josh Freese
Hey Paul Westerberg i am one of your biggest fans . Hire This Band !!!
+David Robinson Pretty much did this last go-around.
I see
My favorite lyrics are ... "Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad, faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad, faaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!"
i really don't think anyone sounds better live. really.
What does he say after “you’re knockin on wood..” ?
Minehan Rocks
lol who says Paul wasn't influenced by John
play in seattle, plz.
Purportedly his response to Kurt Cobain…
This band and this tour was so much better than the one for Eventually.
Did it ever occur to you that Nirvana's music is depressing because, yenno, Kurt was extremely depressed?
I like American music, do you believe in American music!!!!
better than fucking Nirvana - why? SONGS!
Josh Freese?
And who are those other ‘kids’?…

johnny ramone trying a little too hard. shoulda saved it for the last chorus
Cool is not good enough to describe Paul.
Lennon? Well, since Westerberg's solo output wasn't pretentious shit...
Dave Minihane ruins this video.
