it always surprises me when ppl are surprised by his suicide. he's written soo many songs that are literally about depression. for anyone who has it, it's clear he was struggling with it too. the lyrics for this are especially sad because it was one of his more recent songs before his death.
@@user-vc5rp7nf8f Even Hybrid Theory was full of tracks describing what it felt like to have these feelings gnawing at you. "I can't stop what I'm feeling within, a face inside right beneath my skin'
@@user-vc5rp7nf8f Just because someone wrote a lot of lyrics regarding their illness doesn't mean that they are close to taking their own life. Most musical artists use their own experiences/emotions for the songs and it can be an outlet and therapeutic to put it on paper and say it out loud. They are surprised because even with all these very heavy lyrics in all their songs over the years, he still carried himself as a happy, quirky, funny and overall amazing human being who everybody knew struggled with mental illness, but thought he had it under control. It was a surprise because it literally came out of nowhere, since they had just dropped a new album and they had a whole tour set to start and nobody would have seen this coming with all those plans for the future. I don't even think that he knew he was going to do it at all, let alone when he did. Sometimes things just escalate so quickly that nobody could have seen it coming even if the lyrics over the years should be an indicator.
We tried, sometimes though it's hard to get through the darkness we can find ourselves stuck in. It's too easy to get trapped in the idea that nobody can understand. All of us who were in a similar place as Chester was saw someone who definitely understood, and it helped.
RIP to Chester Bennington. We all miss you so much, your music will always live on, thank you for everything you gave your fans, not just the music but the passion and the love too. ❤️❤️
Not originally, no. Mike wrote the song to a friend of his (as Mike usually writes their songs). But Chris Cornell died on the release day of the album, so they chose to play this song instead of a single on their live TV appearance that day in memory of Chris. This wasn't intended to be a single, but the other single plans (Battle Symphony and Invisible IIRC) were scrapped in favour of this one, with a music video dedicated to Chester. So it was just that specific live performance that was dedicated to Chris.
chester was one of the best human beings, as one of the best vocalists, in the entire world. and I'm not just saying that because he's gone. I love all the 6 guys in LP. great people :)
One of the most beautiful songs in the world. Thank you very much for this reaction. Well, many thanks to the group "Linkin Park" for all their amazing songs, albums, videos, concerts, masterpieces. "Linkin Park" and their performers live forever.

They say the voice is the first thing you forget when someone is gone, and from very early personal experience, I can only confirm this. I found out today that a friend of Chesters wrote that song who later died of cancer. Then knowing that Chester lost his battle to his demons puts more meaning to these words than i think they would have originally. Look out for loved ones guys, one day their light will go out
It wasn't a friend of Chester's who later died of cancer that wrote the song, it was Mike who wrote the song to a friend of his who died. Mike wrote almost all Linkin Park's songs.
Linkin park saved me so many times, Chester will always be my hero, R.I.P legend. I hope you keep reacting to both Linkin Park and BMTH, they mean so much to me.
Rest in PEACE to THE LEGEND!!! Chester no one will be able to sing and captivate the way that you do brother! You'll always be remembered and missed man! God bless you!
Hearing him sing honestly makes my heart ache. It was so clear he was struggling with himself and it was us the listeners and fans that knew it but couldn’t reach in him and help ease his pain. One of my biggest mistakes in life was not seeing them in concert. I know I would have had the time of my life. Even if I wasn’t in the front row or all the way in the nose bleeds. Just being there would have made my life so much better. Love and miss you Chester 🥺💔

I cannot listen to this song without tearing up. I never had depression, but I never felt like I fit in anywhere specially when I was in school. Then one day I heard "In the End" and I found a place that I belong - in Linkin Park's music. The news of Chester's death was so gutting, it was the first thing I saw on my phone when I woke up that day. Rest in Power Chester. LP's music will always be in my veins and i'm 33 now.
Lost my big brother New Years Day 2021 and the tears flowing...I miss him so much. He was my best friend ..I've had this video..I know if you lost someone close...you'd be crying on this video..Chester left us one to remember the ones we've lost...GOD BLESS
"We saw brilliance when the world was asleep, there are things we can have, but can't keep" Think about those lyrics for a moment. We were all asleep when Chester was most in need, then we all woke up in the morning of July 20th 2017 to find out he'd left. And I bet we'd all want to keep him around. Another especially poignant lyric for me "who cares if one more light goes out in a sky of a million stars" he was a star, now he's up there in the heavens, out of reach forever.
Seriously so happy to see you loving them. Yes many of us grew up with them, 20 + years of our lives were spent with them constantly. They are family. And they will stand the test of time thank you for reacting. At least for me. Thanks for mentioning the mental health side of things as well. As another person with severe depression, ocd, PTSD, anxiety, a.d.h.d (hyper focus) seeing all of this is awesome. I do have a psychologist and we use Chester and Linkin Park as a helping hand since they were so big in my life growing up and saving my life countless times and helping me make the choice to live. And Chester helped so many. As you can see in your comment section lmfao. But I'm glad you are here in this LP family with us. Welcome!:) This song is another one of my favorites from them so happy to see you listening and getting into them. Yes they actually have quite a few slow songs. I have their entire library memorized, including unreleased songs. And demos. And I'm sure if you live them so far you'd love the rest of them. If they got you this far in you're stuck just like the rest of us. Gosh dang I'm feeling it again after hearing the song again. Fuck. Well if you ever listen to my rambles I'm happy or if anyone does fantastic and if not it's alright. Talking is a good thing when going through a hard time or wanting to share thoughts to in a way make a new friend and synergize with them and understand one another sharing emotions through something we both love or what not. That music video was made after we lost Chester in for him. If only there there was someone singing that song to Chester while he was singing it to all of us.
This song was sung on Jimmy Kimmel Live and dedicated to Chris Cornell who was one of Chester's best friends and also lead singer of Soundgarden and also took his own life. The song wasn't released as a single until after Chester had passed. Such a sad period of time for the music industry. 😢
You should check out the live ballad version of pushing me away. Like this it absolutely beautiful! Also Iridescent is another really beautiful ballad song they did that you should listen to. Its a lot more on the uplifting side but its absolutely incredible
The song is so beautiful, but it's multiple meanings are just as beautiful. It was originally written by a woman with cancer, so the song is about the horrificness of cancer. Then Chester dedicated it to Chris Cornell after he committed suicide. Then later the fans grew to associate it with Chester's suicide 💖 RIP to all 3 💖💖💖

Really happy to see you vibing on the 2nd react video and appreciating the vocals. Also thank you for doing the fundraising. One more light has become my fav song in the place of my old fav Numb. I would love to recommend you to listen to Crawling original release version first then listen to Crawling(one more light version) for future react video if you can do 2 song in a video because it's same song but different version and really want to see/hear your reaction and opinion on them.
Hey Ellie. Just discovered your channel and your Linkin Park reactions, which I'm enjoying massively. I'm also relatively new (just before Chester passed away) to LP and discovered them while going through a dark time. Surprisingly, their songs help me get thorough those times, mainly as the words strongly resonate with me but also because it reminds me I'm not alone. The best reason however, is because I can sing along to them (badly) and rid myself of anger/anxiety. It's true though, that once you learn of Chesters back story, the meaning of the lyrics are magnified 10 fold. Keep up the good work.
I'm an old man in my forties, who manages to suppress my feelings very well, few things can pull a lonely tear out of me, and this song is one of them.
The messenger Sharp edges Sorry for now Talking to myself which was the very last song they made. They put it up the day Chester died as a sort of tribute. Its an amazing song you should definitely react to
The back story to one more light was for a colleague that worked for linkin park & passed away from cancer but after Chester's passing this is the one we all started listening to took me 12 months to watch the one more light video because everytime I hear the song it brakes my heart 20 years of being a linkin park solider (fan) still raw after 4 years R.I.P Legend 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔😢😢😢😢😢
I have seen this video so many times, I don't know why it hit me so hard watching your reaction. I know Chester is gone, but somehow rewatching this video it made me think about how much I used to look up to him and wanted to just be him. I thought he was the man, I was always like man must live the life being a good guy and having a great voice, why could I not have been born as him he is so awesome. Obviously not knowing what he was going through. Then what happened happened. I'm just rambling but at least it bumps your algorithm. It hit me hard tonight.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck i click on this video thinking i can do it without crying... well i faild :D i was crying the minute he started singing... still miss him! I dont know what to say. He is my hero.
I managed to hold Chester's hand when they played this song in London 😢🖤

I'm an old man in my forties, who manages to suppress my feelings very well, few things can pull a lonely tear out of me, and this song is one of them.
The messenger
Sharp edges
Sorry for now
Talking to myself which was the very last song they made. They put it up the day Chester died as a sort of tribute. Its an amazing song you should definitely react to
Gosh this song always hits me so freaking hard. The live version hits harder imo
They sound so much better live or studio version. Check!
What an emotional song coming from chester..
you will definitely love The messenger and Leave out all the rest this songs have more meaning now
Rip Chester Bennington.

They put a lot of memories of Chester in here. They did this video after his death.
after chesters passing i can't listen to this song without crying
