There's a beautiful symmetry in moving both the king and rook together, and having your rook attack the king, and your king attack the rook

Idk about others but the way he talks to chat and explains a lot of things is the reason why this is the only chess channel I watch regularly

The checkmate was a "Swallowtail", "Dovetail" is the diagonal version, where the king has a connected tail, in this version the king has the split tail like a swallow.
Is it an unladen swallow? What's its air speed velocity?
It could be an African swallow, but not a European swallow
I've also heard of it referred to as a "shoulder mate".

If king takes, Nb4+ with fork (botez gambit)
That black castling move while the rook is in their faces felt sooo illegal that it took me a few moments to process it that it's actually allowed, haha.
I always think that too, that the whole line must be unattacked while castling, but nope, just the squares the king moves across.

I love when he says "oh there's a funny line" then laughs about it. It's funny in the sense that the other person expects something and an unexpected different outcome occurs. It's like chess itself was a language and his moves are the punchline. 😂

I think that in the position at the end you can just take the rook on b7 and after the queen takes on d8 you can force a queen trade with Qd5? You'd go into the endgame with an extra knight and a passed pawn.
