no maliketh was more diffcult and harder than malenia he was unpredicable and he takes a a piece of your health and he drains you health and use morgott sword and mimic tear and i destroy her 2nd phase
Hot take: Malenia would go from the hardest boss to one of the easiest bosses if she was a sekiro boss, because her entire moveset feels more fitting for a game with the sekiro combat style
If they put Malenia in Sekiro. She'll be hard too because she will wield a Sekiro mechanic ans you have to deal with it. Imagine her gaining her posture back whenever you didn't parry her attacks and just guarded them. It will be a pain.
@@eetfuk3571 It's already a pain in Elden ring, it wouldn't be any less or more of a pain in sekiro. Easy solution: take it out of the game because it is one of the dumbest mechanics she has. Artificial difficulty is not fun
For me personally, Midir was a nightmare until I did my soul level 1 run of the game and realised the key to dodging midir was to roll backwards, not towards him and wait for the chance to hit his head. After acquiring that knowledge it made him piss easy, just took long to get down his health bar
I 1st tried Midir but I had seen videos of him before hand so if I had done him blind it might’ve been different. Even still like you said, on my level 1 run I beat him in 30 tries compared to the 100 for Gael, Friede, or Demon Prince
For me, Malenia feels more like a Sekiro boss instead of a souls boss. Her sword combos feel like they would have worked better with Sekiro’s combat style. Also, wouldn’t it have been cool to see two master swordsmen/woman with amputated limbs fighting?
I agree with the sentiment on Malenia feeling like a Sekiro boss. Waterfowl Dance reminds me too much of Spiral Cloud Passage, one of the combat arts Tomoe created. It makes me wonder if parts of Malenia's moveset was inspired or potentially utilized what might have been a scrapped Tomoe design/boss in Sekiro.
Malenia is basically an Endurance check (roll a certain amount of times in a row), its also much harder to fight her with a slow weapon (colossal greatsword etc.) than a regular dex or int build
That’s why she works, she’s not different and or alien in the sense of being a monstrosity, being gigantic, or being spooky like everyone else. She’s just stronk, and beats you fair and square, which is a rarity.
@@AllegoryGar You call waterfowl dance fair and square? unless your nearly frame perfect, your dead if she decides to use it while you're right underneath her
So strange. Artorias dunked on my ass for like 5 hours and then I walked in and killed manus first try. Always funny to hear everyone’s different experiences
Manus is damn easy to me. His oh so hard to dodge attcks end with his hand sticking out, an easy punish. And his combo will go on even if it misses, giving free breathing rooms. There's his orbs which I get used to after a while, and the fact I suck gave me a few deaths. But that's it. Most deaths are my fault and not bs things (Kalameet's hitboxes, Sanctuary Guardian's electro machine gun)
Fun fact, you can bring the Fume Knight's second phase out early by wearing Versadlts helmet into the boss fight, causing him to roar out in rage. Lore followers will understand the reason for this mechanic/ai. That'll definitely make him number one in ds2
For Midir, I find that not locking on helps immensely. He's just too big for lock-on to be helpful given how fast he moves. If you free aim the camera, you can see his whole body and how it moves much better
Same with a lot of the hard bosses is ds3 especially the 1st faze of the nameless king. I think the lock on system needed some more attention for ds3 but it works.
I actually love fighting Midir. Got smacked a couple of times on my first Ringed Ciry playthrough, but once I got his moveset the fight itself became a delight. Friede is definetely harder for me.
Legit the reason why i kept doing NG+ until NG+7 in DS3 was purely because a lot of its awesome bosses, especially ringed city.. Demon princes, gael, and midir are so damn thrilling and fun to fight..
@@irvancrocs1753 My first experience with the DLCs was in NG+ 6, the hardest boss for me was the demon prince and while it took some tries Midir was the easiest actual boss of the Ringed City
I think I had the exact same experience with orphan. I remember hearing horror stories about his difficulty so I went through the entirety of the chalice dungeons before fighting him and beat him first try. When I played the game again without going through the chalices, he beat me up just as much as everyone else.
It happened to me to Micolas the host of nightmare. i was keep telling myself that the boss is a walk in the park and before i realized i was 30 tries in and the boss was not down.
One thing about Malenia is that she functions the same as Elden Ring itself: it can be as easy or difficult as you want, depending entirely on how you choose to play and how much you explore. You decide the difficulty of encounters. There are many ways to cheese Malenia. RoB, FBJ, dual Scavenger Swords, spirit summon (especially the mimic), Maliketh’s Black Blade, Ice Spear ash of war, etc. In an honest duel, she’s probably the hardest boss in the series, but you can turn her into a human pincushion with a quick trip to Mt Gelmir or killing a Nightrider in Liurnia.
But fighting her fair and square is such a fun and rewarding experience. Shes frustrating sure, but besting her without summons, meta builds or cheese is more satisfying then beating any other boss fight
The thing about the Demon of Hatred is the fact that is a boss that encourages you to dodge more than deflect on a game that encourages you to deflect than dodging...
Midir is tough but I love his fight. I can easily dodge every single one of his attacks and yet I struggle immensely, it’s a true endurance battle and I’m usually not up for the fight of attrition.
Nice video! Just a quick story on DS2 and my first Fume Knight experience: I was playing first DS2 on an old laptop, with 800x600 resolution around 25 FPS, but in the Fume Knight boss arena it dropped to 18-20, and when the second phase came it went even more below, so I beat it on 12-15 FPS... He was my natural enemy... Well rather my laptops' natural enemy
I think Midir’s learning curve is very high, but I feel like once I beat him one time, it was very consistent after that. I think he still is the hardest boss the game by far (probably top 3 in the series), but it’s just a different type of fight because of his size and damage output. He actually doesn’t have many moves, but the difficulty comes in his damage and most builds pretty much getting one shotted. The health never felt too crazy to me as I was able to get a riposte on him every fight, which reduces his health significantly. I feel like people either can get used to the style of fight or struggle with it. I would probably put Melania solo above him just because of the insane move pool coupled with the high execution. ER is more easily exploited, which makes her maybe seem easier, but just looking at the fight alone, I think she edges him out. Isshin is definitely up there, and that is the type of fight I struggle with, but great video overall, and I agree with pretty much ever pick.
Malenia is definitely the hardest in Elden Ring, yet the most fun, fighting learning all her attack patterns never felt more satisfying, It's like a true dance between 2 masters.
@@adrielortega7352 Waterfowl can consistently be dodged even if she does it right next to you. The skill ceiling is high, sure, but nothing about the fight is truly unfair like people say it is. Learning how to fight her made me a better player across the board.
@@Lhhward06 Waterfowl can be consistently dodged with many ways and techniques unless you simply don't even try to beat the boss or learn it (coming from a guy that has beaten malenia and all of elden ring in RL1) You can easily outdamage her lifesteal even while using a shield. She heals 300-400 damage per hit and by the time you find her in the game, you should be doing 500+ damage. Plus she only heals on hit and you should learn not to get hit that much like any other boss. Generally not a problem! It's a hard boss to be certain and requires a high skill cap but it's a secret optional boss therefore you can skip her if you don't want to fight her or feel like she's too difficult. Hell, you can even cheese her if you want the achievement so you can get the platinum trophy.
WD is the only attack in her kit that is actually hard to dodge, without it she is nowhere near the hardest boss in the game (at that point Maliketh, Mohg, Godfrey and Radagon/EB are wayyy harder)
Great video , yes FromSoft wanted to make Malenia the hardest by giving her the life steal ability like you said and obviously the flurry attack. Thanks for the wedding ring 😂
@@gaythugsmatter7029 She's actually not that difficult if you parry her weeb move, just keep practicing and you'll parry the weeb move every time, her other attacks are easy to dodge anyways
you described exactly how i felt about velstadt when talking about fume knight, his attacks were slow but often had what felt like 360 degree range, oh and his follow ups felt like a guessing game
Yeah, Malenia is insane, and Sekiro is crazy, but Will never forget how Midir beat me at least 90 times until I could finally beat him. Really learned how to play with him, great lore, amazing desing, and in general, excellent battle. Really agree here
Epic outro. That aside, I loved this video, you got to the point and made understandable choices (Soldier of Godrick for example (You forgot Mist Noble from Sekiro!)) so you earned my sub!
sister friede and the orphan of kos were for me the hardest bosses in all those games. isshin the sword saint, ludwig, malenia, maliketh, gael, midir, they were all hard too, but there was progress with every try and every single try was fun! but with friede and the orphan, i had to brute force it, at some point it wasnt much fun anymore, i just wanted to finish it as soon as possible.
I actually really like the Sister Friede boss fight. Her third phase always got me - the first two phases are pretty easy after a couple of tries. For me, the key to her third phase were her jumping attacks - once I realised you have to roll towards her, not away from her, it made the fight significantly easier.
I liked Sister Frieda cause I felt like I was making progress each run and it took me a respectable number of tries especially considering she's a final boss. I found Pontiff and Dancer the ones that made me want rage. Nameless took the most tries but it was a spectacle each time so I had more fun with him.
I haven't fought the DLC bosses in DS1 and DS2 and haven't put much time yet into trying to beat Malenia without summons, but with those caveats, Orphan was definitely the hardest for me so far. Took me multiple days to beat him my first time playing the game, but I loved every minute. A brilliant boss fight.
My first playthrough I used Vordts Mace and it took me forever because that thing was so slow. Second playthrough with Sellsword Winblades and pine resin I melted him.
Exactly people always say he’s hard but he’s really not. It’s not like he easy or a joke but if you fight him like a normal boss and go for the head he’s not that bad, Friede way harder
@@BlackenedRainvowPigsfriede honestly wasnt that bad either. Id honestly say Nameless King is the hardest still or if not him then Pontiff without parries.
The reason why fume knight was so hard for you is that you were dodging the wrong way. You have to roll to the hand the enemy is using to attack. The fume alternates directions of attacks which is a mind fuck
I agree wholeheartedly. His second phase is absolutely amazing, but it's so damn short that you hardly get to see it - let alone have to struggle with it. On that note I also think Morgott could use a little more HP to give his fight more of a challenge.
They really need to up the Deathblight mechanism for him. I think of sekiros Guardian ape who can fill your terror bar with 1 attack if you don't run away or Nashandra from DS2 who slowly fills your cursed bar by close proximity to her are good examples Upping his effect of deathblight by proximity would force the melee players to distance themselves to let their bar drop but they could make him super aggressive with ranged attacks so Magic users have to get closer to have an opening to attack. Just my two cents
For me sword saint ishin is the hardest I spent more time on him than any other boss and to beating him feels so unbelievably satisfying because it makes you feel like you’ve mastered the game
Malenia & Orphan of Kos will always take the top spot for me No other bosses have ever made me so emotionally devastated that I could cry any second during the run
Never thought Orphan of Kos was that bad. Didn't take me too long and never quite understood the hype. Melania is just difficult because of waterfowl - I can't dodge it to save my life. Ended up having to use one of the numerous cheese methods. Didn't feel particularly satisfying 😕
@@alexwikky5604 Yep. That people have different ideas of hard. I played the game normally as I recall. Explored everywhere, sure, but never grinded. I just didn't find it that difficult. I struggle mostly with bosses that have funky, quick, unpredictable attack patterns. From what I remember (it was years ago), Orphan's attacks were highly telegraphed. Anyway, doesn't matter really lol. I'm sure you're probably just one of those "you're not playing souls games right unless you beat it at level 1 with a wet noodle" who no one actually likes. 😉
Fume knight is mostly an easy boss in terms of his moveset. The ONLY reason he's even considered difficult is because they decided to inflate his difficulty by making each of his attack hit for like 90% of your HP. To be fair, this is a recurring theme in souls game.
There's 2 bosses i would change on your list: Dark Soul 3: Gael is the hardest by far. Sekiro: Inner Owl (father), with the gauntlets being added it took me ages to beat him and i found him to be extremely difficult in comparison to Inner Genichiro or Isshin (both variants). Demon of Hatred is a piece of cake now. You either take him patiently like in Dark souls or you use Malcontent and the flame umbrella for protection for his jumps. Add the confetti and sugar and he is going down quickly.
@@ophly8993 no, i mean Gael is the hardest boss in DS3. Midir is a piece of cake once you get his timings down which are very generous in of itself. Not to mention the massive telegraphed attacks that are quite slow. In comparison, Gael is not only much quicker but has far longer combos and much more things to worry about like the lightning, the destructo discs and arrows. First phase isn't too bad and can be easily punished if you the timing right and dodges perfect but second phase is where the difficulty pumps up. Especially after the first scream and begins flying around.
Orphan was really, really hard, but it wasn't an unfair fight. Every time I died, because of my mistakes and it was well deserved. The real horror and what literally gave me my first gray hair was Watchdog of Ancients in defiled chalice dungeon on my platinum run. Still see nightmares because of that bastard
Meh... I got orphan in very few tries on my first ever playthrough but I realized I got insanely lucky. Nowadays I can never predict how many times it's gonna take me, be it 2 or 20. He's quite an inconsistently difficult boss tbh, probably not the best example of the "hard but fair" philosophy. The watchdog and Amygdala are a lot more consistent, I would say, and much more subjective too. I got the dog down in like, 2 tries, but defiled Amy drove me insane. I think I got close to 50 attempts, which almost made me lose it lol
Oh man those dungeons... The Watchdog was a pain i totally agree, because of the 50% HP, that charge attack always one shottet me. The RNG made the fight super annoying. But the bloodletting beast with the worm head (Great Pthumeru Ihyll) almost made me give up the Platinum trophy. What a piece of sh*t boss that was. It really seemed unfair at some point & kinda like the boss wasnt tought trough 100%. That was also the first time where i googled for a cheese. I never did that in any souls game before, but i felt so defeated. And guess what, there is no real cheese for this one. So i had to beat him the ''normal'' way. The feelings i had after finally beating that f**cker, damn.
@@victor_734 i thought so too until i found out the jump wont hit u if u dont move tha made her easy. bloodletting beast is the hardest imo or undead giant with the chains on back... the story bosses are not even worth a mention compared to the cursed labyrinth ones the guy in the video probably didnt have ps+
Even having maliketh as an option to be the HARDEST boss makes me feel upset because I can’t even get past Pontiff Sulyvahn in DS3 and I’m stuck at Horah Loux in ER
A little thing about Manus which i think is still unknown is the Silver Pendant. You can find it straight after Artorias and it deflects dark magic so its a very useful tool for Manus
That’s right, I’ve literally never fought Manus without it, and it can not only shield you from magic attacks, but also give time to heal, cuz Manus does nothing after using magic, but the pendant animation is very short
@@_MrToast_ Honestly: not really. I never used it against Manus and he still doesn't give me too much trouble. The fight is just fun and dodging his magic isn't that hard tbh
Objectively speaking, Isshin is the most difficult boss of all the ones you mentioned, simply because he doesn't have an easy mode, either you learn it or you get ultra instinct or you get screwed. The other bosses, no matter how hard it was for me or for you, with X build, magic or a good RNG, you can do it in a few tries but I have never heard of someone who has defeated Isshin the first time without knowing anything about his moveset beforehand (Sorry if you don't understand I speak through a translator)
Its the easiest out of last 3 boss fights... Only have to deal with his genichiro & 1st phase. Loaded magnet and lightning reversal makes the joke out of 2nd and last phase.
@@dem0n595 I admit it did not cost me hours, but of the 3 bosses that you speak of, it was the one that I had to tryhard the most genichiro and the first phase seemed easy to me after practicing, the one that I could not was the 2nd because I did not use tactics nor did it occur to me to use them alone mastering them mechanics, then when I was able to do his insufferable 2nd phase I did the 3rd to the first due to the mechanics of lightning. I didn't know that the iron fan helped a lot, I suppose that if it has its easy mode, there are still 4 phases so as I said before I don't think any human being has defeated it the first time without knowing anything about the boss beforehand
I played bloodborne before sekiro, and needless to say, the demon of hated even with a completely different combat system was just a breeze. I had almost no trouble with him, beat him first try Isshin has to be the hardest boss, especially when you get a mod to make him even harder
Isshin (with the 4 phase ending) was my hardest boss experience in the whole series. Nothing comes close at all, like if Isshin is a 10/10, the second hardest whatever it is, is like a 10/6 at max.
Ah, fume knight. The boss that made me realize that I needed at least 23 in adaptability. Also the boss that made the 2nd game my favorite despite the beginning areas being just the worst in the enemies taking you down in the cheapest way possible department....
Fume Knight was a brick wall for me, uncountable deaths. I think it’s because he’s not like most DS2 bosses. He’s relentless in comparison to most bosses in that game, he has combo extensions based on your position, and he’s maybe the first boss in the series that punishes flask drinking.
Let's be honest, even though it's more of a boss health-related thing rather than anything to do with healing items, but I'd say the first boss to punish healing was honestly flamelurker. Obviously not in the sense gwyn does, but flamelurker gives you hardly enough time to heal when his health is low. Immediately regains his posture right after an attack, at least in the original version.
Ok, then it’s the first time I ever noticed, and first time it ever tripped me up. I guess when you can parry-lock Gwen, flask punishing doesn’t come up.
Putting fume knight directly into phase 2 makes it easier, it will give us few more swings at him during his animation at beginning and its easier to get familiar to its moveset rather than dealing with fast swing than a delayed attack which hits like a truck.
Malenia's only thing making her hard is Waterfowl. Cambined with lifesteal EVEN TROUGH SHIELDS this attack is ridiculous. Her sprit move is kinda hard, but not as hard as Waterfowl. Everything else is really easy to manage though. If I would rank tye Top 10, it would be like this: 10. Manus, Father of the Abyss 9. Darkeater Midir 8. Dragonlord Placidusax 7. Malenia, Blade of Miquella 6. Nameless King 5. Starscourge Radahn 4. Morgott, the Omen King 3. Slave Knight Gael 2. Mohg, Lord of Blood 1. Maliketh, the Black Blade
@@ophly8993 yes, I suck at Morgott, he gave me surprisingly really big trouble. His moveset is just really hard to avoid. And he can actually deal a fair amount of damage if you fight him fair and square. Keep in mind I had like 35-40 Vigor at the time.
I think I agree I think after probably a couple thousand hours at all of the soul’s games, I’ve only ever beat Midir once, and that was with a full gang squad of summons and sheer luck
Maliketh is soooo much harder than Malenia once you’ve figured out her move set. There are certain weapons that make fighting Malenia a joke if you know her moves, but Maliketh is just too unpredictable to counter at all
I love how different these games are for people. I died only like 3 times to Orphan the first time I fought him and found Ludwig, Laurence and Maria much harder. I’ve even had runs on new game plus where I’ve died the least to Orphan.
Ornstein and smough are an easy first place I first tried both manus and artorias on my first playthrough but ornstein and smough unironically took 57 hours of gameplay
O&S is such an amazing encounter for me because it is the bossfight after which you understand how Dark Souls works. Once you got them down, the rest of the game and every new playthrough becomes so much easier.
I felt the way you felt about fume knight about Sigrun in god of war. I fought her under leveled but refused to come back later. Pretty much mastered her move set but her girthy life bar lead to me making a mistake sooner or later
For DS3 I'd totally say Nameless King, his swings can cut you down even with a decent lightning resistance and have an awkward timing. Midir didn't really give me that much of a trouble if not for his huge damage, but his pattern is not that hard to learn.
I personally think that Maliketh is harder because he has everything : no window, cuts your HP, spams attack. I had to cheese him because out of 20 attempts, I never got to cut 10% of his phase 2 hp. But I beated Malenia in 15 tries with the bloodhounde fang and with 8 estus still with me.
Maliketh has massive attack windows lmao, he has multiple attacks in both phases that allow you to get in fully charged heavy attacks with colossal weapons. Yeah, he does a lot of damage, but he has insanely low health, you only need to get in a few hits. He’s a completely fair boss
@@cardmossdn8058 this is the problem, I always see people saying that Maliketh is fair but to be, he kept on attacking over and over again it was impossible for me to land a hit. I avoided Malenia's dance but I was never able to avoid maliketh triple slash
@@batman1155 I think he has opening but it works differently than most if not all souls boss. You don't wait for him to finish a certain pattern or combos. You attack him during his combo. Maliketh stab the sword to the ground charging AoE then jump backward, this is an opening. You wait behind him for him to backflip so you can attack him. Maliketh long delayed slam to the ground, you can just stay very close under him and the sword will miss. Another window. His slashes that looks like one mind from sekiro, you dodge to his left/right by rolling or simply running. That is also a window to attack. So I think he has openings that exist during him attacking. Lowkey, I think his first phase is the one that is too fast.
For me I struggled a hell of a lot more with bosses like O and S or Artorias in ds1. I don’t know why but manus was actually super easy for me. I guess I could understand why people find him difficult, but I just think artorias a a lot harder(I had like 20+ attemps on Artorias on my first playthrough, which was after beating ds3 including dlc)
You know, dark souls has two main approaches: The regular runs, and the challenge runs. For some reason, the normal runs are harder than challenge runs, I still remember how Nameless king was my DS3 hardest boss, but when I went to fight him at sl1 with +0 weapons, he became much much easier. Perhaps because you adapt to the bosses on a whole another level. Therefore, in dark souls, the weaker you get, the easier the game gets. Unless you're a game journalist
Bloodborne: Orphan of Kos and Lady Maria were my hardest "vanilla" bosses. I did the chalice dungeons afterwards and thought they'd be a breeze until the end. Cursed Watchdog, Cursed Amygdala and Headless Bloodletting Beast proved me wrong. THEY were my hardest bosses of the game by far.
If you have trouble with waterfowl, throw a freezing pot at her as she winds it up: it'll stagger her out of it and it makes phase 1 like ten times easier
I dont know what all this fuss is about Malenia. I had more problems with Elden beast than with Malenia. Strength build, bull goat armour, Mimic tear+10 with Marais executioners great sword + 10, me with fire greatsword + 10 with lions claw ash of war. 3 tries and done. Just keep away from her waterfoul thing. Make sure you are optimized.
Funny for Sekiro, I've hated pretty much every bosses in the game but Demon of Hatred and Isshin. They are the only ones i've keep a good memory (and little gyobu, but not at the same level)
4:08 yes. The fire giant ER, i kept saying its just that one thing that gets me every time. Then i see ppl online saying he was the hardest for them. I did beat him without any cheesing eventually.
Yeah I agree with Midir Malenia can be made quite easy with a 100% physical block great shield on your back with the mimic tear and that self heal great sword.
Demon of Hatred is the only one I couldn't ever beat... and I doubt I'll ever do it. The only way I got to "beat it" was by doing the tower, roof, lure and fall trick.
It's good to see different perspectives, Malenia for me is way easier than Maliketh, even when you learn how to dodge waterfowl dance it becomes easier. May be because humanoid bosses aren't usually my problem, but the not humanoid ones, all of my hardest bosses in FS games aren't humanoids. Demon's Souls - Maneaters & Flamelurker Dark Souls - Manus Dark Souls 2 - Lud and Zallen Bloodborne - Orphan of Kos & Laurence Dark Souls 3 - Midir Sekiro - Demon of Hatred Elden Ring - Maliketh
I agree with almost everything you said, but I would put Gael above Friede for runner up, as you mentioned she could be cheesed with backstabs and parries and if you really wanted you can use the gael summon to help with phases two and three, but the Slave Knight himself for me was a far harder fight, mainly his feral first phase and Avatar of the Dark Soul phase three
Darkeater Midir has to be my all time favorite boss in any of the Souls games, and I've played all of them. I find him quite fun and simple to fight if you use a Ultra weapon, and commit to staying in front of his face. Doing so will often bait out his claw sweeps, which can all pretty much be punished with a fully charged R2. Close second favorite boss is definitely Owl (Father), made even better when fighting Inner Father.
@@bastard342 Elden Ring is easy as well, its the only game in the whole series that allow you to level up and get op gear quickly, you can avoid all the enemies riding a horse and use spirit ashes, when we talk about diffculty we talk about bosses difficulty, and here is the difficulty, lets say the late game bosses Maliketh, Hoarah Loux, Radagon, Malenia etc, DS3 does have hard bosses i would say in the Dlcs the most and Nameless King, Sister Friede is a true challenge for any player, now if we talk about level stages, you better give a try to DS1 without tutorials its by far the most complicated but some bosses are a joke and late game is a waste of time.
My list: Demon’s Souls - Maneaters (Because you can easily fall to your death) Dark Souls - Kalameet (Because he has a million different attacks) Dark Souls 2 - Lud and Zallen (Because Zallen is just nasty and requires very precise play, even if you have already taken Lud out) Dark Souls 3 - Midir (A long and tough fight) Bloodborne - Orphan of Kos (Insane moveset) Sekiro - Sword Saint (Four stages) Elden Ring - Malenia (Because Waterfowl Dance is broken)
Never played the DLC for 3, so the hardest boss for me in the series is either Sir Allonne or Nameless King. Every time I killed Allonne i ended up having all the boss run enemies stop spawning and could just casually walk into the arena and still took me about 20 more attempts where as Fume i always 1 or 2 shot. He really never gave me any trouble for some reason. And Nameless King, easily took my 100 tries to get him down the first time, when coming back for him on NG+2 for the platinum I thought for sure he'd be way easier this time as I was so much better. NOPE still took me too many tries to kill the bastard.
I highly recommend the DLC for DS3 - honestly half of what makes 3 so good is the DLC. Also I don't know about you but the first phase of Nameless King always feels so much harder than the second.
I think, coming off the back of the souls series, the Demon of Hatred gives you that perfected optional end game boss to prove how much you’ve learnt through the series. Yes, it doesn’t match the new implemented Sekiro-style but for me it was a great tip of the hat for the veterans that have played through it’s precursors. Easily my top spot for Sekiro
Out of Dark Souls 1-3, Sekiro and Elden Ring, Fume Knight was 100% the hardest boss for me. (Then I learned - very, very belatedly -- about what the agility stat does lol)
This videos should just be kept on a “personal” level. Just embrace Midir was your wall. Like I said at the release of ER, Malenia will fade with time like Nameless King. Her moveset isn’t that complex, it’s just her BS hyper armor mechanics that people are unable to learn that give her a massive advantage on the “popular opinion of the majority”.
This is the question without definitive answer. One struggle with something that for other was first try easy peasy. For me bosses that took me the longest are: Orphan Kos (BB, very very stressful stuff), Nameless King (DS3, 50+ attempts), Throne Watcher & Defender before Nashandra (DS2) and Darklurker (DS2, didn't beat it still).
My number one is Demon of Hatred. Misplaced boss, requiring skills you're not supposed to use on Sekiro. As for Malenia, she gets easy once you realize how to parry her and how to dodge waterfowl dance (yes, this is hard). Also, poise dmg and stagger are king agaisn't her.

Her jump into a dash stab just screams mikiri counter
That’s why she works, she’s not different and or alien in the sense of being a monstrosity, being gigantic, or being spooky like everyone else. She’s just stronk, and beats you fair and square, which is a rarity.

Fun fact, you can bring the Fume Knight's second phase out early by wearing Versadlts helmet into the boss fight, causing him to roar out in rage. Lore followers will understand the reason for this mechanic/ai. That'll definitely make him number one in ds2
Yeah but you can also trivialize the boss fight by drinking an estus right as he goes to change into phase 2.
we all know this
It's up to interpretation on whether it's out of rage or respect for us beating somebody he couldn't

Finally soloing Midir on NG+ felt like I'd just beaten god. I literally ran out of estus and somehow was able to dodge all of his remaining attacks.

Waterfowl can be consistently dodged with many ways and techniques unless you simply don't even try to beat the boss or learn it (coming from a guy that has beaten malenia and all of elden ring in RL1)
You can easily outdamage her lifesteal even while using a shield.
WD is the only attack in her kit that is actually hard to dodge, without it she is nowhere near the hardest boss in the game (at that point Maliketh, Mohg, Godfrey and Radagon/EB are wayyy harder)

sister friede and the orphan of kos were for me the hardest bosses in all those games. isshin the sword saint, ludwig, malenia, maliketh, gael, midir, they were all hard too, but there was progress with every try and every single try was fun!
but with friede and the orphan, i had to brute force it, at some point it wasnt much fun anymore, i just wanted to finish it as soon as possible.
I used to think Midir was hard, and then I started going for the head. Now it's one of the easiest and funnest fights for me!
I wish Malikath got a full healthbar. He deserves it
I agree wholeheartedly. His second phase is absolutely amazing, but it's so damn short that you hardly get to see it - let alone have to struggle with it. On that note I also think Morgott could use a little more HP to give his fight more of a challenge.
They really need to up the Deathblight mechanism for him. I think of sekiros Guardian ape who can fill your terror bar with 1 attack if you don't run away or Nashandra from DS2 who slowly fills your cursed bar by close proximity to her are good examples
Upping his effect of deathblight by proximity would force the melee players to distance themselves to let their bar drop but they could make him super aggressive with ranged attacks so Magic users have to get closer to have an opening to attack.
Just my two cents
Midir was way harder than Malenia simply for the fact of being an absolute poise beast
“Also since no one thinks my outros are funny anymore, i’ll just…………”

Manus. I’m more of a Bloodborne-style aggressive player and I rarely block, so Malenia’s not too bad, but Manus is always a challenge for me.
Fume knight is mostly an easy boss in terms of his moveset. The ONLY reason he's even considered difficult is because they decided to inflate his difficulty by making each of his attack hit for like 90% of your HP. To be fair, this is a recurring theme in souls game.
There's 2 bosses i would change on your list:
Dark Soul 3: Gael is the hardest by far.
I believe you mean Gael is the best by far
Still see nightmares because of that bastard
hmmm, i feel like orphan phase 2 can be really unfair at some point. i had no trouble with gael or midir, but orphan is my personal nightmare.
Amygdala in defiled chalice was pretty insane as well

Fume Knight and Midir are probably tied for my personal hardest bosses. It took me like 30000 times for each of them.
I felt like Midir was pretty easy after like the 10th try. But the Nameless King that boss was much more difficult.
Nameless king is so fun bro definitely my favorite from DS3 with abyss watchers close second
I beat nameless king first attempt (after watching a RUclips guide) and midir took me like 100 attempts
He’s relentless in comparison to most bosses in that game, he has combo extensions based on your position, and he’s maybe the first boss in the series that punishes flask drinking.
gwyn did that first
Let's be honest, even though it's more of a boss health-related thing rather than anything to do with healing items, but I'd say the first boss to punish healing was honestly flamelurker. Obviously not in the sense gwyn does, but flamelurker gives you hardly enough time to heal when his health is low. Immediately regains his posture right after an attack, at least in the original version.
you have artorias and sentry guardian that also punishes flask drinking.
Yeah, flask punishes were definitely in DaS1, they might have even been in DeS
If I would rank tye Top 10, it would be like this:

Maliketh long delayed slam to the ground, you can just stay very close under him and the sword will miss. Another window.
His slashes that looks like one mind from sekiro, you dodge to his left/right by rolling or simply running. That is also a window to attack.

I agree, the Maneaters in Demon's Souls were a pain. Granted I suck at most of the bosses so I'd be inclined to say they are all the hardest lol!
When you hope for Isshin and then see Demon of Hatred a much easier fight 😭
Inner isshin is the hardest boss, easily.
They are the only ones i've keep a good memory (and little gyobu, but not at the same level)
you can deflect all of the bosses, the only ones where it's not optimal is chained ogre and the drunkards.
4:08 yes. The fire giant ER, i kept saying its just that one thing that gets me every time. Then i see ppl online saying he was the hardest for them. I did beat him without any cheesing eventually.
watching that demon of hatred fight and seeing him try to parry everything gave me physical pain...
Totally agree with the Maneaters. I must have gotten kinda lucky with Flamelurker, because it only took a couple shots for me.
Yeah I agree with Midir Malenia can be made quite easy with a 100% physical block great shield on your back with the mimic tear and that self heal great sword.
Is midir abit harder then malenia?
Special mention to the Godskin duo without sleeping pot !!! Man it was a hard fight !!!
Demon of Hatred is the only one I couldn't ever beat... and I doubt I'll ever do it.
The only way I got to "beat it" was by doing the tower, roof, lure and fall trick.
all of his attacks are avoidable, and you could also parry his head slams.
False King Allant, Manus, Horse F*ck Valley, Ludwig, Nameless, Maliketh
It's good to see different perspectives, Malenia for me is way easier than Maliketh, even when you learn how to dodge waterfowl dance it becomes easier. May be because humanoid bosses aren't usually my problem, but the not humanoid ones, all of my hardest bosses in FS games aren't humanoids.
Demon's Souls - Maneaters & Flamelurker
Dark Souls - Manus
Dark Souls 2 - Lud and Zallen
Bloodborne - Orphan of Kos & Laurence
Dark Souls 3 - Midir
Sekiro - Demon of Hatred
Elden Ring - Maliketh
Close second favorite boss is definitely Owl (Father), made even better when fighting Inner Father.
definitely room for a 2nd tierlist about top 10 hardest FUN bosses
I'll never forget how the Twin Princes in DS3 took me MONTHS to conquer. Was by far the most frustrating boss on my first playthrough
DS3 is so much easier than elden ring I’m playing it for the first time and first trying so many bosses
BRO the Fume Knight one was so on point like i felt like it was the first time fighting him everytime i fought him
I agree on your Demon's Souls take, Maneaters gave me a TON of trouble (second only to Allant). Flamelurker meanwhile took me 2 tries.
My list:
Demon’s Souls - Maneaters (Because you can easily fall to your death)
Dark Souls - Kalameet (Because he has a million different attacks)
Dark Souls 2 - Lud and Zallen (Because Zallen is just nasty and requires very precise play, even if you have already taken Lud out)
Dark Souls 3 - Midir (A long and tough fight)
Bloodborne - Orphan of Kos (Insane moveset)
Sekiro - Sword Saint (Four stages)
Elden Ring - Malenia (Because Waterfowl Dance is broken)
Totally agree with midir... The ONLY from software I still didn't defeat 😢
Defiled amygdala: allow me to introduce myself
Gotta be Midir or Demon of Hatred for me. Both of those bosses had me going at it for HOURS and required me to take breaks in between attempts.
Great video as always, i think it would be dope if you did some sort of boss tier list video based on difficulty👀
For me bosses that took me the longest are: Orphan Kos (BB, very very stressful stuff), Nameless King (DS3, 50+ attempts), Throne Watcher & Defender before Nashandra (DS2) and Darklurker (DS2, didn't beat it still).
tbh that was the best introduction to a sponsor I've ever seen in my life
My number one is Demon of Hatred. Misplaced boss, requiring skills you're not supposed to use on Sekiro.
As for Malenia, she gets easy once you realize how to parry her and how to dodge waterfowl dance (yes, this is hard). Also, poise dmg and stagger are king agaisn't her.
