I raised 27 chickens for my brother's farm in my garage up until their first 6 weeks. I didn't want them to imprint on me so I didn't touch them for the first month. The buffs at week 5 were by far the most willing to take chances getting to know me. They were the first to fly from on top of their waterer up to the edge of their cardboard enclosure and let me walk around with them in my hands. Sweet birds. They all go crazy for cucumbers.
looks like you put a lot of love and effort into them. for as many as you have the space does look a little on the small side if i'm being honest. we have 4 ladies and our permit requires we have a minimum of 5 square feet per bird in the run plus an additional 4 square feet in the coop. our enclosure is 96 square feet total and still is too small for them (it feels) to be locked in all day. i let them free range for 1.5 hours at the end of the day so they can be supervised while I sit outside with the dogs. we sit on almost a 1/2 acre and they love it. their quality of life at the end of the day is still better than those of the birds who are on large production farms, but still we have to just do the best we can to do what's right. i wish you all the best.
As a Buff Orpington lover as well, I truly appreciate you sharing your beautiful birds with us. I love the idea of wetting small amounts of feed to make an oatmeal consistency. I will give it a try with my next batch of chicks and see how they like it. It would be really nice if it reduces the amount of feed wasted. Thank you so much!
We are wanting to get some Orpingtons too, and yours are absolutely beautiful and super quiet! I have been doing a lot of research, and seems Orpingtons are one of the easiest and friendliest to take care of, and also the most quiet. I watched another lady's video, and her Buff Orpington's were quite noisy! Had me wondering if we shouldn't get any at all. We don't have a lot of room here, but we do have more than you have. I think your space is great for your chickens, and they seem very healthy and happy! I love how you've done everything! I just worry our neighbors will complain if we end up getting some. The neighbor right behind us, has her fence about 15' from where we would keep them. It would not be good if they were noisy and bothersome for her or other neighbors. We'd probably get in trouble with the city and have to get rid of them. Our neighborhood is SUPER quiet, so, I'm afraid the chickens will be heard. I read quail are really quiet, much quieter than chickens, so now considering those. Also, some of these people are so rude. Completely unnecessary! Ignore them.
Yeah i have one buff that lately has been pretty loud. I think she is about to start laying. Hopefully she starts to calm down once she starts laying like our first one did.
I have four Buff Orpington chickens and two Rhode Island Reds for laying eggs. All six of them are real characters, I love them. I came across your channel by mistake and am glad I did, I have just subscribed to you. Thanks for posting this video.
Beautiful buffs and I love how attentive you are with them. I am told I spoil my girls, but you are right up there with me. cold melon, blueberries, live mealworms, and frozen zoodles when it is hot. Water bottles and ice water during high heat Texas days. Great video. I don't care whose video I watch, the chicken critics are always in the comments. Your girls are beautiful, happy, and healthy! ; )
You stole my birds!! hahaha Mine are getting a little stir crazy being locked up for the past couple of days with rain. Their run looks like a bombing run hit it with all the holes they've dug. The property is blessed with redworms and they love the baby worms that come up when it rains.
Long time chicken lady first time Buff's - beautiful girls. As with mine (now 20 wks) the pronouced red combs and waddles are throwing me. Are they all Hens? Thx in advance :)
Not if they’re fed enough on a regular basis. If they eat too eagerly when you bring them food, they’re not getting enough throughout the day. Chickens are designed to eat all day long.
our buff is named Puff! even though our flock of 4 also consists of 2 australorps and a black star, shes the best! She loves to give hugs! Also where do these buffs live? it looks tropical there!
They look decent but they need much more animal protein. Chickens are naturally omnivores and they love to hunt and forage for bugs, worms, lizards, mice etc. if you incorporated more of those items into their diet, you’d get eggs with deep orange yolks.
This coop was in the NY metro area, very small foot print. Just didn't have the room. Check my latest video, we moved , huge space for them now. They love it.

I love my buffs. Friendly, cuddly and awesome birds. Smart too
I have 5 also very good chicken!
If they're smart then how come they don't make cars and buildings?
@@SeriousDragonify because they don't have hands.
@@kathrinedelmenico4329 And you don't have braincells to know.

Very health birds. I just got three Buff Orpingtons and three Rhode island red. Happy with the bird I picked.
They look so beautiful and healthy.
We love our Buffs. They are beautiful birds. They look so nice wandering across the farm. Just subbed to your channel.
Thank you! Just an FYI, we are not harvesting any of them! They are all for eggs.
Buffs are my favorites. Thanks for the feed tips! Cabbage n vinegar keeps the worms away. Better than adding to water.

You stole my birds!! hahaha

Your birds are in such a good condition.
I think someone bred them specifically for the floofy butts 😂
More vids about chickens , please , ..🙏
no bugs no grass make up for that

Those birds should have Laying palette
they don't look like they like any of that food, when chickens like something they dig in

If i had to only have one breed it would be buffs
i must subscribe you.
I wonder if they meet a Buff rooster
They will now. I added a bunch of rooster chicks just recently. Check latest video.
What brand of food do you feed them?
I get a layer "organic" blend crumble from Broadhecker farms in Newton NJ
What’s a shelless egg?
What’s the recipe for black beans pasta?
You can buy black bean pasta noodles in the store, or online. No recipe needed, just boil it.

🐭Mice ? Lol
As some who use to have one i always gave my hen a handfull of worms but not everyday i always gave her a verity of food thought
Have your buffs been broody ? They are beautiful birds. Enjoy your channel.
Not then in that video. But since, yes 1 or 2 have been broody. We just recently added a bunch of rooster chicks.
There's a ghost repeating everything you say.
I thought that chickens can’t have green beans and other beans at all cuz it has a enzyme or chemical that can and will kill them.
Certain things are like that. Im always carefull and research before introducing something knew.
Please i want these chicken in my country pakistan please
They don't have much room to walk around why is that?
This coop was in the NY metro area, very small foot print. Just didn't have the room. Check my latest video, we moved , huge space for them now. They love it.
That chicken run is way too small for 6 full grown chickens
3-4 chicken coop max
So blonde~
Sad you don't have enough room for them
Yes it is , but we have since moved. That was the plan all along. Check out my latest video, they have a lot more room.
They don't like your food
Camera shy? 😆
that is horrible buy them ground beef
