This is my favorite chronograph movement. I had a cheap chinese version of it once and that watch broke rather quickly. I had disassembled it and reassembled it a couple times to figure out how everything works and I cannot get enough of this movement. I hope to own a Tag Heuer Carrera chronograph that has this movement in it one day. Thank you for this video.
ETA has some of the most sophisticated mechanisms for autowinding. In one particular ladies' automatic movement (I forget which calibre) I found a planetary system with a multitude of gears which perform reduction for winding the mainspring barrel, and even a system for decoupling the rotor when the watch is fully wound- I believe there were ten gears alone in the selfwinding mechanism of this movement.
In my old 1991 Breitling Windrider Chronomat B13047 runs the same Valjoux 7750 movement. It´s a very good movement and you will find spare parts for it even in a hundret years.
Hi, great presentation of the movement. Could you help to understand why the barrel with the main spring shall be replaced, what might be the reason to do so? My watch with the 7750 movement remained untouched, placed in a watch mover, and I have noticed that after two years the watch does not work. And the authorised service wants to charge me for the barrel with the mainspring replacement.
Very useful video, I have a question I'm looking forward to modified my Hamilton Jazzmaster hands, so are the Hamilton calibre H-21 movement have the same hands hole's size as the ETA valjoux 7750 ?
I did not know that the automatic winder only winds up in one direction. That explains why the winder of my 7750 watch sometimes gets flung around by arm movements rapidly.
Blair excellent demonstration of the 70750 and good to see a kiwi at it, I've been interested in building my own watch for a while with this movement and this can only help, I just may need your expertise to help along the way, Steve from Waikato
Thank you so much for this video. It helped me fix the chronograph of my Omega Speedmaster triple date by comparing it with the functioning of your watch. One of the little hammers was jammed outside its housing. Cheers!
Thank you Blair (or watchesonbroadway)! I will most certainly give this a try. I would like to buy a new sapphire crystal from you if I could; I am not sure of the thickness, but I know it is 30mm in diameter. The back crystal is not sapphire (scratched) and is smaller, maybe 25mm, but it would be nice to have a sapphire there. Both are pretty thin. Watch is Tissot v560 Bridgeport chronograph. I would also buy a band & oils from you. I am in the USA. Please let me know. Thanks again.
Excellent, wish you showed calendar and day wheel assembly. The Hamilton has one Noisey Rotar, why?Who knows, moves too freely,Ive repaired many only to be told I broke the Rotor,no,its a noisy spins too freely rotor. Thanks for your info.
Any tips on how to care for a watch that has this movement? 1. do people normally have the main (big) seconds hand going even though theres a small second subdial? 2 is it best practice to stop the chrono (seconds hand) first before resetting it with the bottom right button?
This was a great video! Do you know what IWC does to modify this movement in their pilot chrono? Can’t find anything with a definitive answer!

Hola: Superlative video!!! I have read in many forums that Valjoux 7750 (I know them quiet well) are really great but very hard and expensive to service because to building avoid costs Valjoux seemed to forget the watchmaker. I am thinking to buy a Hamilton but I am not sure... I have Seikos 6138 and Citizen chronos that are still running...thank you!!!
New 7750 Victorinox for $359US including delivery. Had been avoiding it for the high repair cost, but at this price it could be disposable. Will see how long it lasts.
Great video. Question I have a automatic that all of a sudded doesnt wind. When I go to wind it with the stem, the stem spins back. Do you know what causes this? Thanks
Hello! Have been considering repairing my own tissot with this movement (how hard can it be?!). The issue is that the minute counter (top dial when looking at the watch) started missing minutes from time to time (second hand would pass by and it wouldn't tick off a minute) but now misses all the time. Any idea what could be causing that? Thanks so much. Jason in USA
So I watched the first time and thought, no the reset of the chrono spun clockwise. So I watched in 0.25X playback speed and sure enough, i was right. The chrono test spins the hand clockwise and stops almost dead on 12, possibly over shooting to 12.30 on the hour position. I mean unless the shutter speed of the camera is just that bad that I can actually see the hand passing past the 6,7,8,9 etc then pretty sure your wrong on that particular bit of info. That being said, great video, very nice showcase of the sweeping hands and a nice clear look at the movement in the nude! Probably saved alot of people the trouble of taking theirs apart to be curious.
Only negative of this movement is the thickness. I've been looking at the Archimede Pilot Chrono and it's a beautiful watch but it seems so thick. Without having an authorized dealer where I could check it out in person, I'm finding it hard to drop $1.200 on one.
I own that watch, and it fits surprisingly well. I've owned several watches with a 7750 or similar variant, and the Archimede isn't all that thick, comparatively speaking. The 7750s in Hamiltons (as shown in this video) are super thick.
Hi valjoux I hv Oris Carlos Coste limited edition my watch inner hour sub dial not working properly if push timer button hour sub dial stop at 3 don't go forward plz tell me
Thank you I've been watching this video about 50 times hahajahaha its just very informative and my IWC has it. Tested movement a really good movement indeed.

That is from early 2000 Hamilton Chronograph 3824 - High End day&date 42mm model from 38 series. The watch retail was around $2,000. I have exact same model. there is nice review in French for 3828 date only model - "google Hamilton 3828"
Great video, so nice to see someone explaining things in a clear and easy manner.

Did you get the watch?

Man I walked past your store a bunch of times while I was visiting Auckland and now I'm annoyed I didn't come in. Cool video
Thanks a lot man. This movement has been a thing of fear tome until I watched this video; I can't thank you enough for sharing your knowledge.
Excellent explanation dear mate. Great video.

Great thanks my reset pusher won’t reset the hand after starting and stopping the chronograph it does not push on the cam any ideas? TIA

I've got a Bridgeport in SS, black dial and on a strap.
To be honest i couldn't be happier with it and i highly recommend it.
Loved that thank you. I had no idea that resetting the stop watch over shot the 12 o clock position.
Thanks. But what about this winding rotor? Was something wrong with this movement?
very concisely explained - thanks for sharing.
You are from Auckland new market? That brick red beautiful building?
You should make more of these videos. They are very interesting.

Absolutely lovely video! Thank you! It is great to to see this movement exposed.

Is it possible for you to make a video on fixing chronograph central seconds hand stuttering?
Great video. Question I have a automatic that all of a sudded doesnt wind. When I go to wind it with the stem, the stem spins back. Do you know what causes this?

Awesome! Just serviceing my Super Avenger and it serms to have the 7750 as base.
Is it a durable movement? I’ve read that their column wheel is their weak point.
I have this movement in a Oris Big Crown Crono. The watch rattles when lightly shaken up and down ,is this normal? Or has something come loose .
What about the plastic parts on escapments in c1 211 movement?
Thanks for the video my friend. Question for you, what is that Horotec tool you used to push the chronograph pushers?
wow talk about fiddly stuff!!!
great video man!!! Learned a lot, I have a Hamilton with the same movement!!!
Is it a good movement? I'm thinking about getting a Tissot T-Gold Bridgeport with the Valjoux 7750, but I'm not sure. What do you think?

I believe steinhart uses this
Why do you have the dial on, while working on the movement ?
Looks like a 2010 Khaki Field Chrono. I have the 2003 model, best daily use watch I had so far.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Please tell us, how much does this movement cost.
The date on my Oris 7750, changes when the time gets to 7:00pm
How do I rectify that, without opening the watch?
Its the johndon rod! You must use 30 weight ball bearings and some wd40 fixer right up :)
Hi valjoux I hv Oris Carlos Coste limited edition my watch inner hour sub dial not working properly if push timer button hour sub dial stop at 3 don't go forward plz tell me
Thank you. MORE PLEASE clear video close ups and easy to understand. T)
Thanks for the vid, workhorse movement for sure.
Nice video.. i have a tissot t-race from 2009 limited edition with this valjoux movement.. really precise.. love it..
what should be the most common problem if it doesn't work at all?
Thank you I've been watching this video about 50 times hahajahaha its just very informative and my IWC has it. Tested movement a really good movement indeed.
thank you mate!
Is it a mouvement expensive to service? Regards
Jacques Raymond (londonwatchmaker01@gmail.com) try send an enquiry and see
Same movement is on a Hublot, but why the great price difference?

عندي اميغا واتش واوميغا جينفا 1920 للبيع
hello, take out 12 hour hand, reset chrono with pushers, and finally put in the hour and at cero position, thats all.
when ETA competes at a reasonable price, (I mean it's cam operated) I'll consider, until then my $200 Shanghai is winning the race!
And you get free eggroll
interesting
Those nails :o
Disgusting
I didn't see anything wrong - maybe because I am a man.
Couldn't afford a Tripod ? 🤪
That looks like a fake to me too rough
Thanks!
