      It gets really fun when you get into the Atheist schools of Hindu philosophy that are still considered 100% Orthodox interpretations of the Vedas and Upanishads (though thanks to Atman-Brahman as a concept, the one I'm most familiar with, Advaita Vedanta, is really more like Atheism and Pantheism and Nihilism rolled into a single thought without contradicting itself).

    There is one thing I’d like to note: Asuras are not inherently bad, and Devas are not inherently good. Certain Asuras represent ideals like Justice and Fair Play, while some Devas do really horrible shit
    The clean divide of “Good guys that live in the sky vs. bad guys that live in the ground” was very much a European recontextualization.

    • @preetikushwa7032
      @preetikushwa7032 4 года назад +542

      Yes !. In myths , Mayasura , the greatest architect of the Asura clan , built the the there cities of Maya called Tripura .They were floating cities one above the other , the lowest city was made of iron and was located on the earth , the middle one located in the skies was made of silver and the third one made of gold was located in space. Mayasura created those three cities on the order of lord Brahma . Shiva destroyed those three cities after some time though. Mayasura also created Indraprasta , the present day Delhi , on the order of lord Krishna for the 5 Pandava brothers of The great epic Mahabharata.

    She is the destroyer of evil, she absorbs darkness , she is the mother of all living beings. Kali is generally the angry form of goddess Durga....The supreme mother goddess of hinduism. Kali only comes to presence when negativity has taken over positivity. She is also a fierce warrior. She gives you strength and prosperity. She is nude, ugly, fierce, but she is still our mother. She represents the anger in evey woman.... When u disrespect or assault or harm a woman.... Kali arises in her. If u love your mother,sisters and other females around you and treat them with respect.... Kali will be always happy with you and she will protect you in every circumstances. Love u all. It's useful to know the meaning of these symbolisms
    Kaali = emptiness in Sanskrit
    Emptiness is characterised by dark and hence Kali is black .
    Kaali especially symbolises destruction of Maya (Maya means illusion created by the act of measurement). The severed heads , skull represents Maya.
    Shiva and Parvati ( kaali's other form) represent two "opposites" . They are part of dualistic philosophy (has elements of non dualism too, especially when looked from yogic perspective)
    Shiva represents silent observer , non-measurement , void . since this aspect represents the potential , shiva is symbolised by a male (sperm = potential)
    whereas Parvati represents dynamism of energy, creativity , measurement (Maya) . Since this aspect represents creation, thus Parvati is a female ( womb manifests the potential in a sperm creatively)
    Almost all religions of the world can be categorised either as dualistic or non dualistic.
    The western religions are more non dual . The eastern ones have both , rather , in the eastern ones , non-dualism and dualism are both true , but non dualism is more fundamental.

    There's a emotional aspect here , when kali killed all the battling asura she was so disappointed on her actions because at the end of the day we all are her children in the form of GOD'S motherly aspect (SHAKTI) , so she had to kill her own children even if they gone bad and were killing their cosmic siblings (deva and nara) but she still killed her own children .... Just think what a mother would feel in that position. So her emotion and anger lead her to come to this decision that if they are killing each other and making her kill her children then they don't deserve this life .... they can't protect and love their own cosmic siblings then why should they torture and kill eachother, even if she stop this battle now but they will kill eachother again.....they don't deserve this life and...... she started rampaging 🙏

    Here's something interesting snippets of information! The name Kali also has roots from the Sanskrit word "kala" meaning time, which explains why Kali is described as ruthless, as time is also ruthless
    Also, asuras aren't demons in the traditional sense, instead devas and asuras were originally characterized by their lineage, Devas or Adityas being children of Aditi and Daityas or Asuras being children of Diti, it's all very strange, asuras aren't generally characterized as horned or ugly or anything, as a matter of fact many asuras in vedic literature are described as strong and handsome and that stuff, it's their personality that is "demonic"

And even Gods can't escape consequences of their actions.And another notable fact is that in a Hindu household one can be atheist,monotheist , polytheist or more of these, you're still fine. For ex My mom is very religious,dad isn't so much and my elder sister is a hardcore atheist and yet there's no forcing anyone to change . The point is every individual is allowed to have their own form of belief.
    P.S: I'm not saying no other religion does or anything. I just stated my personal experience from growing up in a Hindu household. Also I belong to the sect which produced Scholars and priests in Vedic times(Brahman Varna). In fact my great grandfather was a priest. So my family has a fairly religious background. It always surprises me how even in otherwise liberal Brahmin households there is just this casual sense of Brahmin exceptionalism, and lack of historical self-reflection. To the rest of us this looks ridiculous - partly because of the damage Brahminical constructs have dealt to our society over the centuries, and also because it's absurd to invoke lineage from Vedic times at the drop of a hat. Get over yourselves. The Brahminical insistence on monopoly over knowledge was shameful, and it was never absolute.
      And to any other kids reading this who are uncritically accepting their caste identities - *don't*. It's terribly uncool. Caste does not define you. It's stupid. Choose other things to be proud of - like your language, or your city, or your district.

Casteism however can be much much worse, in the past it was used to specifically discriminate against certain communities based on the caste they were born into, preventing even their assimilation into society. They were considered as basically lesser humans, if humans at all. It's a sensitive topic, because it has a very painful history and has not yet been eradicated even from urban places, such instances of casual casteism or elitism because of caste still exists. Don't forget that Parvati is actually Sati. So, when Sati submerged herself into fire for saving honour of her husband Shiva, then Shiva waited thousands of years until Sati got reborn as Parvati.
      And how we can forget about her beloved child Ganesha. Parvati literally took form of ferocious Kali to destroy all Devas and whole universe to save her child Ganesha. She furiously told Shiva that if there is not Ganesha, then there would not be any universe as well.

      It's more like life, the universe and everything. Basically all souls are a part of it and it is the ultimate goal of living souls to break away from the cycle of death and rebirth and join the Brahman again. We visualise it as candle flames joining up the sun. I really cannot summarize what it is, but Universe++ is how I would put it, because the universe is, what's the word, embedded(?) in it?
      This is from Rig Veda, a book so old it predates books and writing and was passed down by people memorising the entire thing orally and verbatim. Hell it's so old that there are parts of it that are bird calls and stuff and basically untranscribable.

    -One being the general audience of this particular channel.
    -Second is the amount of respect and disclaimers Red is providing.
    -Third because, well...Hinduism is highly complexed, and its practitioners know that. I attempted to have a coworker explain it to me... and well, fleeting casuals need not apply.
