Many people have mentioned steel plate. Remember, lots of schools have metal detectors. Also remember that body armor is prohibited in some places so the AR plates, the Kevlar book bags, etc. may not be available to everyone. then there's the matter of cost. The ceramic tile was $1.97 How much does the tactical back pack cost?
And remember, you have to get your books out of your bag without everyone seeing the tile. So the armor has to be under the books even if it may be more effective on top of them.

Something to consider as well is that you could probably make an effective bullet stop with several layers of ceramic and not worry with the Kevlar or poly.

As stupid as it may sound, and trust me, I doubt these arguments are being made in good faith in the first place, if body armor is illegal where you live, yes a school will tell your child they cannot wear any form of body armor, be it in a backpack or otherwise.

Where I live, no one can (legally) get an m16 (assault rifle)
However, like the rest of the country, an AR-15 type rifle (civilian, semi-automatic rifle with many similarities, same barrel, etc) is quite common amongst firearms owners. It's not a stretch to imagine a deranged adult bringing one to a school, or a teen stealing one from an older friend or relative to do the same. Even though nothing of the sort has happened in my area, I'm glad Paul has shown the difference in power between even an intermediate cartridge like 5.56 NATO versus a pistol cartridge like 9x19 or .45 ACP. For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure Paul's A1 rifle is *not* a select fire M16 - but the quote sounds better to call it an M16

I know a guy who was working part time at an automotive shop which was owned by a sort of shady owner near Culver City, CA when some of the shady owner's acquaintances dropped in for a visit... and a hit. The visitors went about executing the owner, and decided to shoot everyone in the place, probably so as to leave no witnesses.
So my acquaintance was working on a car when the shooting started. A scumbag came around the rear of the car and shot my acquaintance from his left side. My acquaintance had quite the pot belly going on. The .380 went through his belly from the left side and exited through the right side, causing some tissue damage but missing most of the abdominal muscle, and missing the intestines all together.
My acquaintance also carried loads of old business cards in his wallet, as he never threw _anything_ away. So after being shot through the abdomen, he turned to his right and started to run from the threat. The shooter fired a second shot. Feeling the pain of being shot a second time, my acquaintance fell face down on the floor and played dead. As it turned out, he was shot right in the ass but the .380 caliber FMJ bullet was stopped by his wallet. He was the only one in the shop to survive.
The acquaintance was a friend of my ex-father-in-law is still alive as far as I know. He was never exceptionally wise, but hopefully he learned to stay away from shady people.
What does any of this have to do with book bags? Not much, except that a book bag with books in it CAN save your ass if you're lucky enough.

In our HH-60H we had over the floor armor against small arms fire that was high density ceramic bonded between sheets of fibre glass. They were pretty effective at fast rope heights. The rounds would break the ceramic, but, the panels remained in service until they could be repaired or had full through failure. A little sealant, speed tape and paint, good to go. With random hits, (not stacking) full through failure was not experienced. The real problem with the armor is it is very heavy and impacted weight and balance of the helo limiting load and pax.

@@TheDiameter Nah, I'm equating the relative wealth of a nation with teachers needing to carry guns because the society has collapsed to a point where having someone go on a shooting rampage through the classroom is something people actually have to consider. I bet if you did a straw poll of people on this site from other first world nations you would find that it happens so rarely elsewhere that people wouldn't even entertain the idea. Apparently there was nearly 50 incidents of people being shot on school grounds in the USA in 2019. I've no beef with people being armed. Look at places like Switzerland. There is a lot of guns floating around that country, but they don't share the same social and economic factors that drive the same level of violence. That says to me the issues isn't born of guns, it's more of reflection of the kind of society that uses them.

Greetings from the UK. Love your videos and the detailed information contained within them.
I also like your sense of humour.
As I live in the UK we can only watch channels like yours as we would never be able to do this ourselves.
    Keep up your excellent work.
    Regards
    RB.

Love the video, but i feel the need to point out that you're more likely to die in transit to/from your school than in a school shooting.
Speaking from personal experience, i was nearly run down at least twice and i knew a girl who spent 5 months in the hospital when a sedan sailed through a red light and hit her on a corner. I knew absolutely no-one, who knew anyone, who knew anyone that died in a school shooting.
Graduated from highschool last year, so i think the anecdote is still relevant.

Hello, any update on that website using part of your video to sell a bed holster?

Am I the only one that was surprised by Paul's choice of books? A plethora of really good stuff there!!

I've just been informed that a number of books were reported missing from
the "Self Help" section of Paul Harrel's library this morning.

If you read a "Self Help" book written by somebody else, that's not "Self Help", that's just "Help".

I'm sure that "Juicing Bible" was borrowed.

Sad that this issue even arises. Happily though we have true patriots like mr Harrell to do conclusive test in the event of this being needed. I am going to put level 3+ (sorry forgot the +)soft armor in my kids backpacks before next year. Thanks for the videos and all the work you put into your videos and as always thank you for your service to your county. 💪🇺🇸

Thanks for including a reference to the Run, Hide, Fight video. I've used it to teach Church active shooter survival classes and I haven't found anything better. Stay healthy and God Bless!
