Thank you for dropping a like and subscribing! Sheet music trivia (first to answer correctly gets PDF): what was the name of the protagonist in the original movie from which this tune is from?
Thanks Timothy! Yeah, you can argue Charlie is the protagonist or Willy Wonka, although I like Charlie as an answer because Wonka’s more of a transitory figure.
When I signed on as a Patreon patron, I couldn't quite put my finger on why. It turns out it was for Bill Charlap's Pure Imagination and Timothy Gondola's skillful transcription. I've been on the hunt for the most elegant arrangement of this classic fave for quite some time. At last. Thank you. I feel like this was my personal reward for a bit of patronage. :)
I had to pause around 3:26 to see how that last chord on the left hand was played. I was already surprised at having to reach from F to Ab and was even more shocked to find that you reached F to Bb! Super impressive stuff I loved the whole cover but that bit in particular was crazy
Thank you Mr Tim. I listen to this a lot. Bought the sheet music. Can’t do it justice. So back to listening to you. & you always brighten my day. Thank you. Della
There's also a Rick Beato video (Modern Nomenclature - Shorthand For Quartal Chords with Special Guest) where he proposes a nomenclature like that for 3 note quartal chords, very useful, I´d like it to stick too :)
Another great transcription, Timothy! Nice playing, too. On average, how long does it take you to do a transcription? Also, do you use any kind of software or do you just do it old school and listen to the recording at regular speed and write it down? Before CDs came out in the early 80s, I transcribed from LPs and cassettes. It was really great training. What kind of notation software do you use?
Thanks Tom! I use MuseScore to notate, with no help from any transcription softwares; I haven't found any that are helpful. Sometimes I need to slow down the mp3 if it's moving too quickly. Transcription time is a trade secret but it's not too long :) !
I just bought your piece and became a patron. I haven't seen a double "C" flat in a long time. AND of course you had to switch to sharps lol 😅 this is a beautiful piece friend.
Hi Timothy! The transcription is masterful! 👏 However, I would like to point out a very small error in misure 62. We have two chords, B7sus and B7alt and the last chord the B is natural, no flat. With respect and gratitude, Massimiliano

Beautifully done, Timothy! Charlie would be proud. (EDIT: Charlie 🪣 would be even prouder!)
Charlie ☺️ (or maybe you meant Willy Wonka, depends on point of view)
Charlie 😊 Appreciate your work as always man, this piece has lived in my head permanently for years. So haunting.

I'm looking for his full name, very close!

A good arrangement that I actually learned to play. 👍🏻
Such a beautiful and elegant piece of music, well done for putting Bill Charlap’s arrangement of the piece in written form.
Pure goosebumps. BEAUTIFUL 😭😭😭
Deserves alot more views. Truly 👌🏾
Had this played at my husband’s funeral. Wonderful. Purely wonderful.
I’m very sorry to hear about your loss, but honored my music could play a part on the funeral, thank you Della!
Thank you Mr Tim. I listen to this a lot. Bought the sheet music. Can’t do it justice. So back to listening to you. & you always brighten my day. Thank you. Della
The piano keyboard was invented just with your hands in mind. Love to you my friend. And those hands, too.
Now that is pure beauty, well done Bravo!
Thank you Dennis!
Simply Beautiful
Such beautiful piano playing hands.
Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful
Thanks Kwasi!
Absolutely WONDERFUL!
You with your two octave reach….❤😂❤😂. Beautiful alien hands make music sound so blissful.
Thanks for the Db major masterpiece.
Love Charlap's arrangement with the broken chords and modulations included☺
Oh, that’s how to indicate a quartal voicing in chords. Ebq learned something new today thank you!
I actually invented that so hopefully it sticks haha xD ! Didn't know how else to designate it
@@TimothyGondola i needed this. Thank you. I shall pass it on and tell stories about you.

Great Player and great music
So, so beautiful!!
Thank you, cheers!
너무 좋네요🥰
Beautiful ❤️
Such a great tune!
Wonderful rendition. Willie would be proud. Wonka, that is. Certainly not Willie and the Poor Boys of CCR fame:-)
The sound of your piano is very unique
Wow!
Just a question, I'm quiet new with piano recording stuffs...How did you get that crisp sound on your piano recordings.
Thank you!
When I try and transcribe, I really struggle to hear the bass more than anything else, is there a way to improve this? Awesome transcription BTW.
The one thing I hate about being a 4-5 string instrument player is I can't do this
good song!

i was very confused when the changes said Ebm9 not Em9

As a patron, you can request that by messaging me in Patreon and I'll transpose for you! (jazz tier +)

How tall is he... those hands ffs
This song was sung by Willie Wonka himself, portrayed then by Gene Wilder.
I unsubscribed just to subscribe again.
What a terrible key.. 5 flats! Not for me :)
Please please please get rid of the crappy hands playing along. It’s increeeeeedibly distracting to the music. Whose idiotic idea was that?
Boring
