I love the minimalist approach to crafting a huge sound: each guitarist has his own part to play, and sometimes that part is very minor, but crucial to building the overall sound.
Whitechapel make me proud to be a Southerner. Them, Pantera, Lamb of God, Upon a Burning Body, and Trivium (FL is technically the South, lol) are all great Southern metal bands.
They are the nickelback of the the deathcore community. At least somatic defilement and this is exile had some decent riffage. this is just elevator music played in drop tunings...
@@dumpsterfireaf New Era actually had some of their best riffs and song writing IMO. After that it's like what's the purpose of three guitarist? Very rarely do they use all 3 to full effect which kinda sucks.
Not a huge Whitechapel fan, but Im glad to see they are all using different amps and guitars. Driftwood, old Mesa 2 channel recto i think and a Fortin modded Marshall? Pretty rad
Plus most modern metal songs these days have some sort of synth or drone sounds that accompany the riffs, so the fact that the 3 guitars allows one of them to fill this duty instead of using it in backing tracks etc is commendable.
Saw them play it live the year that album released at warped. Fucking RIPPED. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. I grew out of them a bit after the self titled but I actually really enjoyed The Valley and Kin. It’s more original and “them” than the djent ish sound they went for with the prior two albums. Those felt so dumbed down too what original Chapel sounded like. Now they have their own sound with blends of their old savagery. This is one of the best songs they’ve ever written and one of the best metal songs I’ve ever heard tbh.
Why are there 3 guitarists for something so compositionally thin and uninspired? Frankly, its extremely boring. I suppose the culmination at 3:40 was ight.
It’s for a heavier tone and it works for that. Yeah I agree, I don’t think anyone really needed a play through for this one it’s pretty damn easy. I love the song but lost boy was a lot more interesting instrumentally
@@astickman7054 it’s literally just to sound crunchier. It does make a difference. I mean if you had a band with 4 guitarists it’s gonna sound a lot heavier than a band with just one
never understood the need for 3 guitarists in this band. They sure don't capitalize on having 3 guitarists, most stuff this band does can easily be achieved with 2.
Then you’ve never seen live metal. Their tone is heavy as hell live with 3 guitarists. Every metal band I’ve ever heard with 3 guitarists has a heavier live sound. The rhythm guitar and chugs is pummeling with 2 players doing that instead of one.
Lol, you people obviously don't understand what a bass player is for. Yea, I've seen them like a couple times, didn't sound any heavier than a band with a bass player dialed in right and doing their job. You are some sad, defensive little kids.
@@NAT-turners-Revenge thats what im saying lol i mean I did just watch the new Trivium video before this so im sure that had a big sway on it. But still, the riffs in this felt lazy. In my opinion of course.
As a guitarist is there really anything better than a good guitar playthrough?
maybe something that is actually more challenging to learn. This song is pretty easy for even a beginner to figure out by ear....
Fretless bass playthrough for a tech death song
@@ZuccAF as a guitarist I don't think that would be better. But still intriguing
@@dumpsterfireaf I mean that is true. Good thing there are plenty of other more technical bands
@@captainconvulsion as a guitarist aswell, them fretless bass playthroughs makes me feels stuff i usually never feel
More bands need to be doing guitar and drum playthroughs. Major respect.
The best guitar playthrough this week with 3 guitar players in one, thank you Whitechapel

Incredibly talented, humble, musicians. Absolutely amazing live.
0:39-1:02 is just so tight and heavy with all three guitars

LOG is from Virginia so not exactly the south but I feel you though! Lol 🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@jasonchilders48 Haha, don't tell Virginians that. It is the furthest north the South goes. Hell, it was seat of the confederacy, hahaha.
@@Mavvyd96 hahaha yes very true!
If you're into whitechapel and haven't heard of bodysnatcher or traitors, both are worth a look 👌 2 more southern bands for ya
Good God don't compare them to legends. Not in the same breath.
I don’t know how many times I watched this video but it never gets old, love Whitechapel
0:35 when you start a rusty chainsaw lol. So heavy
Killer video for a killer track, beyond hyped for this album
*Kin* is also a Turkish word.
The Turkish word Kin means *hatred* in English.
BRUTAL
It means "torment" in Hungarian.
Based on the lyrics I think they're referring to kin as in family.
You're full of shit. It does not
"Kin" is the English word family, while the latter is latin "Familia".
Its used in English in a poetic sense.
Nothing to do with Turks or Huns.
Listening to this, is now my new morning routine. This is pure absolute metal.
You can tell Alex just loves what he does. He always has a stank face or is headbanging his ass off.
They're playing a hammer on on that riff? And 3 7-strings? Holy shit this is some big brain shit
I thought for sure it was a bend. Lol
Proves that they aren't as simple and boring as the haters say about them.

Hey dude from my Typography class in 07, thanks for showing me Whitechapel bro.
Мне очень понравилась подача материала и музыка приятная.))
3 guitars is better than two. Tone is so much heavier. Also, please play breeding violence live. One of the best metal songs ever.

This new album is killer!
Awesome!
You guys should release the Quad Cortex presets that you were using!
I can only imagine the pit going ape shit at 0:35. Heavy heavy.

Why not use SOLAR Guitars? I think Ola needs to get onboard with this band!
Does anyone know what thing this song is in

This is in drop G right?

I didn't knew Henry VIII played in a deathcore band
It hurts to write this but since The Valley it's kind of going down hill. I hope the passion returns.
If I had an army, this would be my war anthem. 💀🤘🌿👽
Where’s the bass? 😢
😈😈😈😈
Especially 3 guitar players
Whitechapel is the only band that works pretty well with 3 guitarists
Guitar go chug chug lol
What's the point of a 3rd guitarist if he literally does the same as the second one?
Creates a wall of sound. One panned left and one panned right and then lead guitar is most likely in stereo
Why are there 3 guitarists for something so compositionally thin and uninspired? Frankly, its extremely boring. I suppose the culmination at 3:40 was ight.
