I disagree when it comes to Whitechapel. it would sound so much more whitechapel withouts Ben's parts... he has evolved too much as a guitarist over the years and keeps influencing Whitechapel to become more harmonic and melody-based when in reality they need to be brutal and f****** metal.
@@SSenderling I disagree, good metal is all about complexity which can be in the range of complex riffs but not necessarily. Good harmony and melodies is what makes a bunch of metal songs and artists great. I mean, if all you care for is grinding riffs, listen grindcore.
I don't really mean to stir shit, but I think the guitar tone could've been dialed in better for the vid. All I hear is indistinct fizz for the rhythms. Cool pickups and playing, regardless.
why so much hate ??? if you're a guitarist.. that doesn't mean you have to play all the technical stuffs to make it look cool...I don't mind if it's simple...It sounds great. if You really hate that these guys plays simple ..why not make music for yourself and listen for yourself.
The great thing about dimarzio pickups, I feel anyway, is that you don't need the gain as high on your amp. I think they could turn it down a bit and we could hear what they're playing. I love this band but they sounded too muddy in a way in this video
It's quite interesting how they play the same riff but in different positions, like the way Alex plays the starting riff is played differently when Zach is
i think the 3 7 string guitars with their dropped tuning, compensates for the lack of bass? idk much about their band, but these guys have good songs to crank up! Im more of a drummer, but i appreciate the riffs
Why do they worry so much about who writes what, I know they have 3 guitars but they make it sound like a competition, though I think ben happens to be the most melodic out of the 3
+emanuel cardenas I agree and also seems like Zack is the odd man out.... Like he is always on the defense because people probably always question why the heck they have 3 7 string guitars. Like he has to make sure everyone knows that he writes riffs too, or what riff is his. They always make sure to say like OH I'm the lead guitarist like Ben always does like their egos are always on the line and deep down inside they probably are self conscious about having 3 guitarists lol.
emanuel cardenas I don't really think that's what the point of this video was, I think it was to celebrate the fact that this is the song where you can really hear the band as a whole come together. It's not a great big deal who does what, but it is cool that this song in particular has large chunks from everyone.
I don’t think that’s actually what was intended here, but that being said unless they have an agreement to split royalties equally the person that gets credited for the lyrics gets the biggest share, next step down is lead guitar writer, and everyone else pretty much splits what little is left. If you’ve ever wondered why some bands credit everyone as a writer even if they weren’t, you now know why.
@@cazza710 no they are already using baritones, but it sounds like its being recorded using the camera mic if it was direct or miced properly it was sound more clear
@@thequietgamer1889 nah at this moment & time they all got 25.5 scale guitars their next models with are 26.5 except Alex who went with a 27 scale on his latest sigs
I love how there is so many Professional players commenting on this bands video!!! What band are you guys in & what record label are you guys signed too??? lol
These guys would sound like 40 times heavier if they would play in like B standard or like drop A#. Their bass player would be heard a lot better, and it would not sound as muddy
Drop A , drop A# would require you to tune the other six strings up a half step . I tune my sevens to A# standard which is a standard seven string tuning lowered half a step and drop G# same with the A# lowered to G# ! Certainly won't sound heavier tuning A# F A# D# G# C F ( drop A# as you suggested )
awww man Zach was a bit out of tune but pretty killer nonetheless I like hearing what comes about when guitarists write without any real theory knowledge
DFKNG If you use a baritone and heavy gauge strings it's totally possible. Here they are using only 25.5 scale guitars wich is way to short for drop G really. But now they use 26.5 scale guitars so it works a lot better now :)
lol, love their stuff, but listening to individual riffs the way they just showed, wow, not sure how it comes out so damn good! but that would be why bands love 3 guitars i guess
If you watch the making of this album, you can see their vocalist tracking guitar too, plus another guy doing guest solos. That's quite a bunch of guitarists
heavy metal = wall of sound
whitechapel = echo and rumbles of the universe
Ben's riff was the best and the one that didnt sound all muddy
I agree.

I agree, it sounds like they're playing a line 6 on insane lol

Think they could benefit having a longer scale neck on the guitars. Still sounds awesome though.

Ben's tone :-)

ben sounds so good tonally in this especially compared to alex and zach
Nice riffs, too much gain though making them sounding muddy, almost uninteligible :/

Is the Blaze Custom discontinued?
Bad ass sound love it...
I hope they stop using Drop G soon. I like low and heavy just like everyone here, but it's just seems too low and flubby even on a baritone guitar.
All their guitars are 25.5 lol that's why it sounds so flub
I agree. I love this band, but I think they could tune up a little bit at least.
To each their own though.
Part of it's their tone being so gainy at times (even live) that makes it so hard to distinguish tones
Umm, I honestly don't think drop G is a good tuning to start with. I think Whitechapel needs to go to Drop F or Drop A
what do they play at the end?
+USDD Gaming the ending to our endless war
Can we talk for a minute about the sonic overkill that is three guitarists in one band? What's with bands like this coming up? Two is enough!
no Bassist in their Band Thats why ^^
The Defenestrator There is a bassist. Gabe Crisp.
+Chip Roberts Easy way to think about it. G1: Rhythm G2: Lead G3: Harmony

that segment where they all played together at the end sounded so epic. Yet I still cant get into their music though :/. Maybe its the vocalist, idk.

This is a fine example of that.

You're absolutely correct. I would also notion that tone also has a lot to do with it.
DFKNG
Yes of course. There is way too much gain here
Wait no offense intended but does Zach have a lisp I never noticed
I think he just camera shy but I could be wrong
I think people were disliking this because its really awkward.

They definitely kill it in their live show though, tone is unreal
