Honestly my expectations were pretty low when I first bought it, but they immediately skyrocketed when I saw the Infiltrator mode and finished the campaign. I was genuinely surprised by the game and absolutely enjoyed every second of it. By far the best Terminator game I've played.
@@tominator4468 Personally I don't give a shit if this is a real old school style shooter, IT WORKS, I saw playthroughs of both Terminator FS and Skynet on here and this game is leaps and bounds better than those two (but they were better than the rest of the games that came out before and after), yes it's a flawed game, but that was largely due to budget and creative constraints, but shit I love this game, yeah I don't play it as often, but I still think its a great game.
The fact they only had the first 2 movies to go on was mostly due to licensing issues though I have always preferred T2's version of future John Conner, battle scarred, and looking like he could eat gravel and spit glass, also the way the solders reacted to him in that short time shows how much his people respected him. Edit: if you havent i would suggest playing Farcry 3 Blood Dragon its a game everyone needs to play if they grew up before the 2000s
I don't know why but RUclips has been recommending me small channels with interesting content since last Monday. I'm glad I got yours recommended, keep it up!
I think they got the Terminator's behavior down perfectly. You have to remember that the Terminators that the resistance meet in any movie are just mindless machines meant to go in and kill anything they see. They don't have any strategy because they are cheap to make and far more numerous than the resistance. They are the meat shields, so to speak, so they don't really need a strategy, just push forward until they reach the border of the area they attack. The same goes for guarding, they will only move to the border and stay there. The T-101 in the movies are completely different from normal grunt machines because their job is to infiltrate and destroy, so they need to be smart to accomplish that. Something that the game also explains to you when you get that far. And the fact that you are easily destroyed when you first meet a terminator is also accurate. They use laser weapons and you are just a human with little to no protection against that. Unless you get your toughness up you will be an easy target.
That's a fair point. It's just, from a video game perspective, they're not very fun or interesting to fight. And you come across multiple models of terminators throughout the game which all act the exact same way. Not sure how much of the video you watched, but I did end up liking the game, and how the first time you come across terminators, they killed you instantly. But for me, on normal difficulty, even after upgrading my toughness a couple of levels, they'd still kill me in seconds. It wasn't until I maxed it out, that I could stand and shoot for a few seconds without needing to take cover and heal. I guess I waited too long in the video to start talking about how I still liked the game. But thanks for watching and the comment, mate.
Ah mate it's so good to see you back making videos I still always go back and watch your older olds. Much like yourself mate I love terminator 2 in my opinion it's not only the best sequel of all time but the best action movie of all time. Tbf terminator resistance is a pretty good game clearly made by people with passion but on a limited budget
Thanks Toejam, mate! Going to try and upload something every couple of weeks. Retro or not, I just want to make videos! Completely agree with you about T2 being the greatest action movie of all time. It seems crazy to me that my favourite movie as a kid, is still my favourite movie as an adult. Like 30 years later, I can watch it and feel like it still smokes anything I've watched recently. Though, the original just gets better and better every time I watch it. Teyon Games created a great Terminator atmosphere, rough around the edges, but I couldn't stop playing lol. I think because, like you said, there was some passion behind game. Cheers for watching Toejam!
Completely missed out on this game, but it does look fun. I really have to say that your style of reviewing puts a genuine smile on my face. It informative and witty, but I also like that you're sharing your personal experience with a franchise that you clearly are passionate about. Keep it up.
I loved this game for the story and atmosphere, everything I wanted from the films. Your videos and humor really make laugh. You should have way more subs. Keep going 💪
There's another thing worth mentioning about Resistance: John Connor _isn't_ killed off to make way for Diverse Female Future Jesus. So if that doesn't convince you to play Resistance, I don't know what will... ...Well maybe the reference to Teyon's earlier, and much badder Rambo game.
I want to see a modern multiplayer terminator shooter/hero shooter. I love this universe so much and its a shame it hasn't been tried yet except DLC in call of duty, which in hindsight is probably the easier option.
Ever since I was little I've just wanted a movie set in the first 5 minutes of Terminator 2. I was really excited for this game, but I'm glad I watched this review. I'm still excited and will be playing it, but my expectations have been tempered a bit so I won't be setting myself for a major let down. Thank you!
Cheers, Snake mate. If you're a Terminator fan, you'll get a kick out of it, for sure. Just pick it up on sale! £34.99 + £12.99 for the dlc on steam, is a bit much.
To this day I've never finished that truck level in T2 on megadrive. I only beat it in arcade by putting two coins in so I could shoot both guns at once
"A 2008 FPS," ha-ha! Top review, mate. That Commodore64 T2 game had tripe loading times! If you liked Terminator: Resistance, there's an 'Enhanced' version of it available on the current (2020-) game consoles.
Cheers, Boss! Everything about that c64 game was tedious. Most of my memories of that game are just me, staring at the tv, doing nothing. haha Ah, there's always an enhanced version these days, lol. I just picked this one up on steam when it was on sale. A detail I forgot to mention was that it ran really well, too! Didn't want to get too bogged down in the details, just wanted to make the video shorter and fun. Thanks for watching, mate!
@@tominator4468 The days of the C64, great at the time, especially with rose-tinted glasses! A great video, mate. Thanks for these and the scans, they're chock-full of good memories 😁
@@legojedi5296 You know, I've been meaning to play both, War for Cybertron and Devastation, for years. Annoyingly, both games have been removed from steam, so I'd need to play them on my 360/ps4. Same with that Platinum Games Turtles game. Blows my mind that these digital games can just disappear! I'm going to put them on my buy/to do list, so thanks for the suggestion, jedi!
the Terminator game on Sega CD was alright. I wouldn't call it a masterpiece by any means, but it's totally playable. Main thing I'd say I dislike about it is the lame, butt rock soundtrack by Tommy Tallarico, but everything else about the game is decent to good.
