      Hey Mangesh, when deciduous trees start to push you can get away with a lot, as you can see at the end of the video a week after doing this procedure it started flowering.

    So... I had no idea that handling sphagnum moss with bare hands was risky until you mentioned it in passing. I paused the video, looked it up and I'll be damned. Fungal infection (sporotrichosis) is a thing. Will be breaking out the gloves next time I work with sphagnum. Thank you!

    I just did some major work on a small Florida maple. I was worried, it ended up with few roots. But the buds are just opening, and it was vigorous, so hopful it survives.

    That tree is like, "yo, pal, I used to have roots."
    It looks nice, I just feel bad for the tree that you were so brutal chopping the roots.

      😂😂😂 that is perfectly fine do to and you should on your very first styling, the tree was so happy it started flowering and then pushing leaves shorty after

      Hey David, Thank you so much for your nice comment. I didn't grow it, moss grows everywhere here in Georgia so I have the luxury to just scrap it off trees and sidewalks.

    Hey Jerome, could you use sphagnum moss? Why did you mention you'd need gloves for that?
    I've got a couple trident maples, can they effectively be treated the same as Japanese maples?

    • @WeareTheBonsaiSupply
      @WeareTheBonsaiSupply  3 года назад +1

      Hey Jarren, you can pretty much treat them the same although tridents love full sun all year.
      While sphagnum moss is typically not dangerous, certain fungal infections have been associated with it. One common ailment is Sporotrichosis which occurs due to a fungus growing along with sphagnum moss. This mostly applies to live moss, but still be careful.

      Hi,
      While sphagnum moss is typically not dangerous, certain fungal infections have been associated with it. One common ailment is Sporotrichosis which occurs due to a fungus growing along with sphagnum moss. I would make a habit of wearing gloves when handling spagnum moss

    Great video as always Jerome, one question, why not just bury it all? I would think that is the safer option and would give you more choice of roots to work with later?

    • @WeareTheBonsaiSupply
      @WeareTheBonsaiSupply  3 года назад +1

      Thank you Mitchell, that’s a great question! You can do both and it is equally as effective. I just didn’t want it to be buried for two years.
