We’ll begin with an overview of the enol and enolate including formation, resonance and stability. We’ll use this to break down both the Aldol Condensation Reaction and the Claisen (and Dieckmann) Condensation Reactions
We’ll look at reaction, mechanism and conditions for both Aldol and Claisen,
Along with my time-saving shortcut to help you easily recognize when a condensation reaction took place, as well as how to undo or reverse Aldol, Claisen and Dieckmann by simply studying the substituent pattern.

hello maam! i would like to ask a question, if there is two alpha carbons, one primary and one secondary, which would be the one involved/attacked by the base? thank you very muchh
I challenge YOU to answer the question, which one would have a more acidic hydrogen?
@@Leah4sci Wouldn't this depend on the base used? Like LDA would attack the primary, forming the kinetic product, and KOtBu would attack the secondary and form the thermodynamic one?
