shenaniganz krew 22 I don’t think rocky Mountain atv stocks oil filters for the dr for some reason. I had to purchase mine from my local dealer but I’m sure some of the other big sites would prolly have them. Revzilla maybe, possibly jp cycle? Also can probably find them via eBay if you don’t have a shop close by.
Hello. I am having a bogging issue with my DR200 past idle. Would a valve check/adjustment be needed for this if I have already gone through and through my carb?
@@DirtRider22a thank you sir! Would you have any advice on where to turn after I check that? I actually just ordered a carb off of Amazon because I was having the same issue with the stock carb. So I put the new carb on and it still seems to be the same issue. Starts and idles great, but right when I turn the throttle she wants to die. Would that be a main jet issue? Or needle issue? Thanks in advance.
@@SlurpyMurph I would guess it’s a main jet problem but I’ve also seen similar issue traced back to the cdi box, but I would try everything else before I started looking into the electronics personally
@@DirtRider22a awesome. Can I ask what your point of attack would be? Take off carb check inside for any obstructions. The new carb did come with an extra main jet label (145) I’m wondering if I should try that?
You don’t have too, if you do remove it then it’ll be easier to turn the engine over by hand because you won’t have any compression and you can stick something in the hole to verify the piston is at top dead center if your unsure
Finding TDC Compression stroke is easily verified by watching the INTAKE valve, open then close as you approach the TDC mark, while turning in the direction of rotation.
As long as you are confident you did it correctly then the extra valve noise isn’t a problem, if the valves were tight then you may just be noticing the extra noise because you aren’t use to hearing it.
I absolutely love the DR's ! I've had a bunch!
They are great little machines for sure 👍
A set of offset feeler gauges definitely makes things a little easier
They have complete offset sets on Amazon for cheap.
Thank you.God bless you.In Jesus name👍🏼
Awesome video! I just did this last week on mine. Do you know off hand what oil filter to get for the Dr?

Kn132 is the k&n parts number oil filter

I wouldn’t think it would be a valve issue but I guess it wouldn’t hurt to atleast check them and see if they are in spec or not

@@SlurpyMurph I would try fresh gas, re clean the carb, clean the air filter, and replace the spark plug and then go from there

I love how you can adjust the valves without taking the entire bike apart.so many bikes they make it difficult to access. Such a pet peeves of mine
Jason Capriotti yeah, that’s why I haven’t adjusted my KLR valves yet. I prefer these simpler air cooled bikes for that reason
Do you have to remove the spark plug first?
I’m about to do valve adjustment on the dr 200, but I was wondering if it’s okay if I leave the spark plug in the bike still

This was a great video! Thanks for sharing!
David Parry glad it was possibly some help to you and you enjoyed it. Wish I could’ve gone more in depth and shown how to actually adjust them.

I did this and hear lots of tapping after

too loose
