@@teegee3214 I just received the ND, but Mel’s singles haven’t shipped yet. So I don’t know yet which one I prefer. I do believe that Mel’s could have the depth that Retro Glam is missing. In any case, as both have great formulas, I know that I will enjoy them both. I didn’t know about Mel’s singles when I preordered ND…that’s why I bought both.
I already ordered this so I think I’m going to swap a few of the shades with the love palette to try and add range and dimension. I never use the love palette (almost decluttered it) so I’m going to play around to see if I can make a few swaps and liven up both palettes
I think Sydney Grace and Viseart mattes are the top ones in makeup to this day, and there is depth in Mel's interpretation, although I personally like Mel's Marvels palette color story a bit better.
Girl I thought about getting that palette, but just knew I wouldn’t use it. I don’t care for those tones much and you are right there is no depth. I did buy Mel’s version though and looking forward to that one. I think this one is better for brown eyed folks.
I got both ND and Mel’s collection. I couldn’t resist. I adored Mel. I was always amazed with her talent. I followed her when she had maybe 20,000 followers. She did a lot of home decorating ideas. I can still hear her giggle and her saying “Hay beauties. Welcome back to my channel!” A beautiful life taken way too soon. Gawd how I miss her. ♥️

I was unsure about this color story. A lot of the looks I’ve seen online look almost ashy. The greens looks great on you! I do think it’s pretty for spring so I may wait till Sephora spring sale. My dream pallet unexpectedly solid!

I like it. I too got it last day of the 20% off. I was watching Natasha’s tutorials on her IG and that’s what sold me. Her looks blending the pinks into the greens, which no one else did (who I follow). The similarities as you mentioned are matte vs shimmers. Also I do not like deeper colors with my eye shape (slightly hooded). It’s not my absolute favorite but I will use more in the winter with darker bolder lips ❤
Arlo is gorgeous! Your makeup os always gorgeous.I think the palette is a little muddy in a pale way. I feel that for the price, the palette should stand alone without needing other palettes. I just ordered Mel's version from Sydney Grace. So excited for it!
I skipped this palette and Mel's version is on the way. I can't wait to dip my brush into those 24 shades. I can only hope to create similar looks to hers, the queen of the blending brush. I rewatched her video shortly before ordering from Sydney Grace, and how excited would she have been to see after all this time, ND putting her idea out into the world? Picked this up the last day of the sale, it’s not shipped yet …so I’m living vicariously right now…lol I love these shades, but the lack of depth throws me off, I wanted some deeper olives or something. There’s a shade in Zendo called “zeal” that I feel might work in conjunction or like you mentioned use glam or even the cool tones in Biba ….I pair palettes frequently so it’s not a huge deal. ❤ your looks, these shades pop against your skin tone SO well. Your review sums this palette up perfectly …it’s a companion palettes. Mel’s vision was so on point with this palette, I’m glad you still talk about her I miss her videos so much. Agree her version is more “wearable” in that’s it’s easier to see the looks ( for me)
I order the Natasha Denona Retro Glam & I ordered Sydney Grace Mel’s bundle. I have not received them yet, but just by lookin I believe I will be enjoying Mel’s bundle the most. ❤ I love me some Mel Thompson & I continue watching her videos. Rest in peace Mel. ✌🏻❤
I have a Grand-dog too, but recently found out that I’m going to be a Grandma in April! I’m so excited, I can’t wait! Raye is also my favorite lipgloss. Every time I do my makeup, Raye is the gloss I use & take with me.💗
OMG I literally thought my heart was going to burst of love and joy when I saw your sons puppy, I have kept replaying the beginning, sorry Tara but I am huge animal lover. Anyways I agree with you on the palette, you will need to go to your other palettes to get the depth and to me they are pretty much the same colour tones, so sadly it's not for me, but you did the best looks that I have seen so far, especially for a more mature person, like myself. I was disappointed that I ordered the palette from the Natasha Denona site not realizing Sephora would have it for the last day of the sale. Oh well , I plan to enjoy it when I finally get it. You did a great job on your looks. It’s funny how puppies given to boys somehow become the Momma’s puppy. My grandson got one for Christmas two years ago and he enjoys the fun times with his dog but somehow he became my daughter’s dog when the work was involved. It’s okay she’s fine with it and you probably will be too.
Hahaha, that's exactly what happened with my Golden Retriever. We got him for my daughter, and he became my dog😁 My son knew that would happen; that's why he got him right before he moved out. 🤣 he just got home from summer sales in early Oct, and decided to get an apartment with his buddies; they just moved in on Friday. Now I have to drive 1 hour to see little Arlo😫, but it does give my son that time to fully bond with him. You're so right about that, though. So funny🤣🤣

I got the palette today and I absolutely love it!! But I have light skin with a cool undertone so those greens pull really pretty on me. Not that they don’t look pretty on you but they just look different on me and are very flattering. I was able to use the darker metallics as mattes and it worked great. The shade flutter in my palette not not crumble like yours did and it’s not soft pressed. That makes me think there’s either gonna be inconsistencies in the palettes or it’s just a fluke with yours. But the looks you did were gorgeous!! Im just so sad Mel isn’t here to see the palette😢. I know she would’ve created the most beautiful looks. She was so incredibly talented and even though I didn’t know her personally I miss her so much. I hope you have a wonderful rest of the night!! Btw that Smith 253 brush is amazing. It’s my number one favorite for applying shimmer shades.
Oh he's so cute ! I just bought mels palette. Its awesome how close she was to how the release actually looked. I think I might be getting the retro glam palette for Christmas and I can’t wait to use them both together and try the sydney grace formula. Arlow is so sweet, I bet your golden retriever is cute with him! I don't know about this palette, it's okay I guess but the color story is more Springtime to me and I just know it's something I would never reach for. I don't often sit down to do my makeup and think I'm in the mood for blueish grays.
I just bought this palette, but am waiting to receive it in the mail. This palette reminds me of winter because the looks I've seen using the greens and grays makes the eye look icy. I have the pastel palette as well as one of the other ND five pan palettes that has a sky blue shade in it. I'm looking forward to mixing the grays in this new palette with some of the blues from my other two palettes. Love the looks you've created, Tara!
Hi Tara I'm super pale/cool toned and the lack of dark tones or warm tones will work well for me. I'm excited about it and I think this will be a well used palette for me. Best wishes.
It is definitely missing depth. I think your third look is GORGEOUS; that black eyeliner really helped! I’d love to see you do a look with this palette and some darker mattes from other ND palettes. I did some swapping with other ND palette dark matte shades (a dark hunter/forest green, a maroon, and a brown/black and and I like it MUCH more. Also, I didn’t think of the HUDA Pastel Green Palette; it really is similar. And I really LOVE Mel’s palette and I can’t wait to see your looks with it.

Bronze, Glam, Retro all have a more limited variety of looks. I actually really like the attention to detail with minor variations between shades to create subtle differences. Natasha can really commit to a colour story! I feel the same as you about the lack of depth but I guess that's on theme for a genuinely retro palette. Still, I'll be dipping into deeper shades in other palettes, or smudging some deeper kajal liners on the lash line to build contrast.
omg thank you for your honest review! Everyone is simping for this palette and I don't get it. I love Mini Retro because it is wearable and innovative for people who like neutrals. Peachy pink and sage, gray-green. But Retro Glam is too blue, minty and christmas-y for me. No pinky shimmers. Kinda chalky on medium skin. I prefer Nouveau.

I'm live in Italy so for me it's more affordable the Natasha palette instead of Mel's version. I didn't buy the Anastasia palette because in my collection I can already dupe it with some similar colours, but I will buy the Natasha one because I love all the sage colour and I think it will be really fun mix it with other pallets.
Your look came out gorgeous despite the lack of a dark matte. I agree with the ABH being the better color story for those type of shades/colors. Thanks for sharing.

I bought Mel's SG Tiny Marvels back when it first came out. I also just bought (and received) the SG "In Mel's Memory Eyeshadow Bundle". I dearly love SG formula. In Tiny Marvel's the third shade, top row (Fire-Butts) is an exact dupe for the 1st one in the Eye Ecstasy Sublime-Pat McGrath's (Sinful). There are a couple more dupes .... DragonFly (PMG) and Scarab (SG-Tiny Marvels). Again, while I am a huge PMG fan, I am also a huge SG fan. I dearly loved Mel. Miss her.

I have set aside a budget for the second half of this year to buy a new ND Midi palette, and I was so excited for this launch and sure I would love the Midi Retro Glam (since I love the Midi Glam, the Midi Retro and the Mini Retro), but the longer I look at it, the less I feel that it is right for me. And the same already happened with the Midi My Dream. I still think it is beautiful though. This is strange, because usually I don't want something in the beginning and then fall more and more in love with it and then buy it. Mel's version is gorgeous, but too colorful for me. I would have loved to see her video of this palette as well, we all miss her. I don't think I would regret buying one of these two, but since I'm just a regular makeup user, I don't want to buy everything that I think is pretty, just to have it. I only want to buy things that I will use often.

If you remember, Natasha regularly uses liner to deepen her looks around the lash line and to the outer lid.

I just bought mels palette. Its awesome how close she was to how the release actually looked. I think I might be getting the retro glam palette for Christmas and I can’t wait to use them both together and try the sydney grace formula. Arlow is so sweet, I bet your golden retriever is cute with him! I don't know about this palette, it's okay I guess but the color story is more Springtime to me and I just know it's something I would never reach for. I don't often sit down to do my makeup and think I'm in the mood for blueish grays.

I just bought this palette, but am waiting to receive it in the mail. This palette reminds me of winter because the looks I've seen using the greens and grays makes the eye look icy. I have the pastel palette as well as one of the other ND five pan palettes that has a sky blue shade in it. I'm looking forward to mixing the grays in this new palette with some of the blues from my other two palettes. Love the looks you've created, Tara!

It is definitely missing depth. I think your third look is GORGEOUS; that black eyeliner really helped! I’d love to see you do a look with this palette and some darker mattes from other ND palettes. I did some swapping with other ND palette dark matte shades (a dark hunter/forest green, a maroon, and a brown/black and and I like it MUCH more. Also, I didn’t think of the HUDA Pastel Green Palette; it really is similar. And I really LOVE Mel’s palette and I can’t wait to see your looks with it.

That's my problem with Natasha's (and Melt Cosmetics, too) palettes. No real variations of tones in many of their palettes.

Bronze, Glam, Retro all have a more limited variety of looks. I actually really like the attention to detail with minor variations between shades to create subtle differences. Natasha can really commit to a colour story! I feel the same as you about the lack of depth but I guess that's on theme for a genuinely retro palette. Still, I'll be dipping into deeper shades in other palettes, or smudging some deeper kajal liners on the lash line to build contrast.
They're so many palettes that will pair so well with this one, it will definitely get the creative juices flowing 😁❤️

omg thank you for your honest review! Everyone is simping for this palette and I don't get it. I love Mini Retro because it is wearable and innovative for people who like neutrals. Peachy pink and sage, gray-green. But Retro Glam is too blue, minty and christmas-y for me. No pinky shimmers. Kinda chalky on medium skin. I prefer Nouveau.

I'm live in Italy so for me it's more affordable the Natasha palette instead of Mel's version. I didn't buy the Anastasia palette because in my collection I can already dupe it with some similar colours, but I will buy the Natasha one because I love all the sage colour and I think it will be really fun mix it with other pallets.

I bought Mel's SG Tiny Marvels back when it first came out. I also just bought (and received) the SG "In Mel's Memory Eyeshadow Bundle". I dearly love SG formula. In Tiny Marvel's the third shade, top row (Fire-Butts) is an exact dupe for the 1st one in the Eye Ecstasy Sublime-Pat McGrath's (Sinful). There are a couple more dupes .... DragonFly (PMG) and Scarab (SG-Tiny Marvels). Again, while I am a huge PMG fan, I am also a huge SG fan. I dearly loved Mel. Miss her.

I’m having the same thoughts and not sure this palette will suit me… edited to add: omg I just got to the part where you said you will use nouveau more and that’s exactly what I think. Thank you!!! Thank you so much for this review. I have a warm skin tone and wanted to see how this palette would look on me. I think this palette definitely needs a few warm peachy tones to compliment the cool greens.
I have set aside a budget for the second half of this year to buy a new ND Midi palette, and I was so excited for this launch and sure I would love the Midi Retro Glam (since I love the Midi Glam, the Midi Retro and the Mini Retro), but the longer I look at it, the less I feel that it is right for me. And the same already happened with the Midi My Dream. I still think it is beautiful though.
This is strange, because usually I don't want something in the beginning and then fall more and more in love with it and then buy it.
Mel's version is gorgeous, but too colorful for me. I would have loved to see her video of this palette as well, we all miss her.
I don't think I would regret buying one of these two, but since I'm just a regular makeup user, I don't want to buy everything that I think is pretty, just to have it. I only want to buy things that I will use often.
