Great review. I've owned the 2020 RR M Sport since Aug 2019 and now have about 6500 miles on it. It is a fabulous machine. Amazingly refined and thoughtfully designed. It is better than the previous generation in almost every way. The electronics are terrific, both the riding dynamics and the luxury features provided by the TFT/Bluetooth, etc. It's remarkable that on a track-ready superbike BMW provides phone/helmet/bike integration, Nav, music, phone, cruise control, self-canceling turn signals, hill stop assist and a brilliant performance app. The last enables you to chronical your rides and replay them on a map replete with speeds, acceleration/braking, lean angles, etc. It has been problem-free. I've only had to bring it in for my 600 mile and 6000 mile services, though on the last they performed the oil-cooler replacement recall. My biggest ownership expense is tires, but that's not a bad problem to have. This has been my best two-wheel purchase ever.
I was considering a v4 or r1m but everyone has a r1m so I like to be different I like the grey s1000rr 2020. The v4 looks nice but too hot.. the sat nav cruise control. Plus that awesome dash.. I am thinking rather than buy new get a low mileage second hand m sport but in grey if possible then with that small savings get a full system fitted ..
@@smokey9063 I never care what others have. I don't need to be the same nor different. I just look at what it does for me. The V4 (S and R) and the R1M are great bikes, but they aren't nearly as street practical as the RR M. I also kept my stock exhaust. I hate loud and most people I know with fully systems frankly suffer with them. If I made it into a track-only bike, I would get a full system for the weight savings and some power gain (with a reflash), but that isn't the case.
Those electronics seem some what useless on a sport bike, maybe on touring bike it’d make sense but I don’t see the point in all those extra pieces that just drives up the cost when 95% of riders aren’t going to use them
@@MADLITS1K You obviously don't ride one. The Bluetooth sends performance telemetry to the app for replay and analysis later. Nav is always a good feature. Heated grips are amazing in winter. The TFT console is the best in the business. I use the helmet intercom/headset when riding with buddies. None of this is wasted. Zero. It's all thoughtful and appreciated. It's also shared with the other BMW upper-end bikes so has little marginal cost.

@Rory The Red One issue with BMWs is that they have many more features to possibly break. This is much of the source of the increased problem reports along with the increased customer expectation that a premium brand like this needs to be perfect. With that said, my RR has been flawless through 8500 miles as have been my recent M cars (currently an M3).

TSAR BOMBA Obviously, but the race bikes look awesome so it’s really pointless. Its like putting a huge wing on a Toyota Corolla, all looks and completely useless.
This will likely be my first 1000cc bike. I’ve been riding a couple CBR600RRs for about 6 seasons and I’m ready, I think, to buy a proper sports bike. Wife wants me rolling with the electronic nannies anyway so once the market gets a bit more saturated with them and they’re easier to find I’ll be trading my 600RR in on one and I’ll likely buy some parts for it now so as soon as it rolls in I can throw an exhaust, lever guards, wind screen, and crash protection.
No mention of the tuning issues, dead spot from 4-8k, no ability to adjust pro mode settings on the fly, the suspension isn’t that great and hard to nail down. Lots of folks selling this bike. And the main delay for this bike is software issues.
Jr Cruz yep. Reported and reviewed on several videos. Not like I made it up. The electric suspension is nice but some people are having a hard time getting it dialed in and frankly some outright dislike it.
For me, the fact that if you ordered this bike now, you wouldn't get it til 2020 completely puts me off. BMW have dropped the ball on this. They given their competitors time to react to such an amazing bike. Wouldn't be at all surprised if there was a revision R1 out next year. I bought the rsv4 1100 factory simply because I could have it now and not have to wait at least 6 months.
Went to the showroom the last day and sat on one and started it up. My first time seeing it in the metal. Really comfortable to sit on - yes the seat is hard so I would have to see how I got on with that long term but there is some comfort seat available. I want one to use as an everyday bike so no track days. I could see myself doing a lot of touring on it with its sat nav and heated grips. It would be great for the odd Sunday blast too. Can't wait to get one now. Dealer (in Ireland) said waiting time from date of order is 10 weeks. Have to ride their demo but they won't let anybody ride it on wet roads so this being Ireland I may have to wait a bit.
Glad to hear how impressed you are, I’m still very new to the bike scene, had my license for a year and my CBR600F ( 2001 model ) still takes my breath away, but I’m happy watching all you content to see what I might have in 3 or 4 years time !! Can’t you spray the engine protector gold ?
