Nice video! Looks like a lot of interesting things are gonna happen shortly. Like you I was curious in the space but previously I found a lot of key applications missing. Nice overview. I like the books with the non smartphone looking camera :)
As always, a great discussion here. I am most interested in the Minimal Phone but with all of these network compatibility is a concern. I also appreciate that you called out that distraction free is not just a catch phrase. Not only for those who have real struggles, but those of us who want to be more intentional, reducing digital clutter is important. I have been planning a video on that.
🙋♂Hi Vladimir! I am also looking for a dumb phone within the e-ink family, but it must have Android, as I do require certain apps from MS Office. The Bigme Hibreak is something that will not 👎work for me due to not having a speaker or headphone jack, as I do not like Bluetooth ear pods in my ears and prefer over the ear headphones. The other issue I see is these custom UIs that most of these developers have designed, it keeps me locked with updates from the manufacturer and how long will they update such software. Let's face it, there won't be an overwhelming demand for these types of phones. I could just adapt a smartphone to be as dumb as possible, but it is not what I am looking for, or perhaps that will be my only choice. At this point, I hope Boox will come out with a B&W and Color e-ink phone that will mirror your take on it.... That would be great!👍 Thanks for this insightful video and as always kudos from NYC.🗽
Really hoping boox makes a phone version, I'm wondering what apps minimal will support now and what their expansion plan is. Running Android 14 is great and perhaps they could have some MS office integration. Hoping their team will get back in touch as I have many questions haha 🤞
Yea good point I've been watching some content on the e ink phones coming out. I think minimal is basic enough where it will still have good batter life, but we'll see!
Nice video 📱❤
Thanks, which of these phones do you like the most?

Glad it was informative for ya! Boox has become a very strong competitor in the tablet field so hoping they make a dedicated phone

Looking forwards to your thoughts on the topic, minimal does look pretty cool. I certainly miss the qwerty days on my blackberry and OG Motorola Droid
One concern i have with like boox levels of eink capability is that its good enough that id probably still download many social media apps
I can see that for a color screen, I don't think they are as enjoyable as on a modern smartphone tho

Dont necessarily assume good battery, other eink phones have pretty poor battery because they have to refresh a lot to be useable
