Ever since I found your videos I watch at least one a day. I got a piece of hard pine to practice making a violin plate as it's cheap and I don't know where to get the actual wood here in Mexico and it’s going good so far. I hope to get a kit like the one you got of the Strad next time I'm in the US. The most intimidating things are the violin scroll and the plate thickness but hopefully, I can figure it out over time. Thank you so much for all your help with these videos! :)
Good to hear that you like my videos Jonathan! You can order wood at riwoods.com (they have a lot of experience in sending wood allover the world) and the kit from grandiliutai.com as the are also experienced in international shipping. I think that Grandi Liutai has wood as wel so you could order everything in one place.
Aprendendo sobre está arte incrível, saudações do 🇧🇷
Good to hear! Greetings back!
Ah, Maestro, I sometimes worry about your hands when you hold your chisels/gouges between your fingers like that. I feel it must be quite stable, but does it hurt your hand after a while? It is a testament to how sharp they must be if you can apply just a little pressure to cut maple like that.
That said, I like very much how you make your scrolls. On the Utrecht, I admire it quite often. I have a friend who is a violin teacher and concert violinist. I let her play the instrument for a little bit. She usually uses Pirastro strings, so we differ in our tastes for sound quality, but she was very impressed with the feel and the sound, especially the warmth and clarity of the upper register. I'm very happy to show your work to my musician friends whenever we get the chance to play together.
Hei Meghann!
Working with your hands does train them and makes your fingers stronger. But I also put some force with my shoulder when needed but you cant see that on the video. The gauges have to be sharp thou, it's not only force!!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I appreciate your admiration of my work!
Maestro, will you be posting any more videos about building the Pochette?? It’s been a while!!
I'm really curious to hear what it sounds like.
Me too!
Curious...when will the next installment of building the pochette be? I am anxious to see more....
How it's the pochette project going? Are you still working on it? it is very interesting. Greetings from Croatia
Great
