Definitely a Hong Kong classic that will remain unsurpassed for decades in terms of kung fu action, comedy and character portrayal. This spark of creative genius may never be replicated for eon to come.
Unlike any other movie, this one left an imprint in my memory. It still crosses my mind today in 2024 and is why I randomly looked up 'making of Kung Fu Hustle'. Thank you Stephen and everyone who worked on it!
Not necessarily. There are millions of pretty girls in China lining up to take this role. Of course she has to be pretty, no duh ....but he has to look beyond that and beyond that it's always a subjective feeling
YES stephen always manage to find a very pretty lady for his movies But that is his part of his genius, cause as we all know we need hansom or pretty actor and actress to makes things captive
Why Stephen Chow is a genius. He is able to make almost every character memorable in the movie. The audience can remember almost all of the non-main actors/actresses because of their individual uniques specially directed by him to portray in certain ways to capture the audience's attention. A real genius. How many times have u walked out of a movie only to remember the main actor and actress and little about the other casts?
Nothing short of Brilliant , to say it is one the Funniest , yet touching films that uses Kung Fu , and in the end it is a Love Story . I have seen it more times then I can count . I hope to meet Mr. Stephen Chow .
Awesome the film, top 3 all time favourite, a love-letter to the fans. The Landlady in the car is the funniest scene, still makes me laugh even when I think about it (Bruce would have loved it). Loved this behind-the-scenes.
This, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, are the only movies that translate cartoon fights and violence into a "real movie" without looking stupid. Funny? Hell yes! But not stupid or even totally unbelievable. And both movies have a perfect joke timing. The scene where Landlord comes up from behind and slaps the guy, flipping him over sideways, and the sandal following his trajectory a bit later, is absolutely hilarious and cracks me up every time :)
I no comen.
This movie took me back to my child hood growing up in the sixties on the upper west side of Manhattan. Only difference is the Asians were Puerto Ricans.
Actually i don't really like this movie, i am sorry stephen chow🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 my idol, because this movie stephen he was not enjoy the acting process like he used to be. This is too serious compare to stephen chow's oldest movies. He was very funny person, everytime when i watched his new movies at that time he was only actor not director, he was very very very funny because as an actor he focus one only to make audiences laugh. After became director he looked very stress out. I know the difference, i have watched his movie before he became comedian. But i love him no matter what. I just hope he can just become actor not director, he looks more happier when he as actor rather than being director.
@@alecule chinese odyssey part 1,2 .that's movie one of his best movies. Athena chu was his real girl friend at that time, because of that the chemistry between them very good. Shaolin soccer also one of his best movies. And he look much more happier in fight back to school ,if you watch the behind the scenes or his oldest interview ,he laughed a lot during shooting, in his interviewed as well. Just not the same like in this movies. From his acting, although i only watched abit of behind the scenes in this movie but i can see he did not smile like he used to be and his eyes full of intensity. Compare to when he was just an actor his eyes can smile too.
@@hirenahir76200 did you read what i wrote, i did not really like it not because it's not a good movie, but my idol stephen chow he was not as happy as he used to be compare to when he acted in his old movies. I am his fan i know that.
One of the greatest movies ever produced in the history of mankind!
Amazing.
i wish i can forget this movie and watch it again like i did in my childhood
same! i wish so badly i could re-experience it for the first time, especially that knife scene haha
Well, good luck with that.... 😂
Definitely a Hong Kong classic that will remain unsurpassed for decades in terms of kung fu action, comedy and character portrayal. This spark of creative genius may never be replicated for eon to come.
The humor translates well even without knowing HK and Chinese culture, which is why it's so popular even for us foreigners
@@ytuseracct i agree. it's a classic period.

It's one of my most fav movie... It's 10 in every way. I specially love the stunts, vfx and the sound design.
This movie tried to take on almost every genre in one, and it was successful in all of it.
I cannot imagine nobody else having these much fun directing and acting. Stephen is a gifted person. Waiting patitnetly for part 2.
A masterpiece. All the characters are unique and memorable - the landlady is adorable! One of my favorite films to re-watch.
One of the few movies that I can keep going back to for a good laugh. I love this movie.
Whatever Stephen said , it's contrary to what he means lol. I think he specifically chose her because she IS pretty and she can act well

The landlady (Qiu Yuen) is currently (2024) working in Hong Kong - it'd be a real coup for her to be cast in a Hollywood production.
