Given how close Lorelai and Rory were, Rory's reaction here and her missing Lorelai so much was definitely understandable ! It's difficult to enough for people to move away from their parents for the first time when they go to college, but also moving away from a best friend would make it even harder.
I had this experience few years ago when i first started university. It was two flights away from home and my mum wasn't there. I hugged my dad and didn't want to let go.No family member are allowed to stay so when my dad left and took the flight home, i cried for hours. I just couldn't help it. But, i did well and graduated :)
This happened to me too! When I moved out I was happy to be independent and seconds later I felt really homesick and worried to share the bathroom and the house with complete strangers XD. However I survived and graduated :)
WOW!!! LOL. You know a simple hello and good morning work very well!!! Just be yourself, but also be warm and welcoming and always smile!!! Seriously it sounds corny, but seeing people with a smile is contagious and people really do want to be around great energy like that.
I know it’s good for young adults to be independent, but Stars Hollow is like half an hour away from Yale. Most people would have just commuted and lived at home…
I feel ya. My mama take care of me. And we've been thu a lot of stuff, from daddy goin to jail for sellin drugz to me getin hit wit a stray bullet. But mama was always there.
aww i love this scene :) look at her at the beginning of season 4 and then look at her at the end of season 4.. see a change there? i know i do. -sigh- why did she have to change? she was such an amazing person.... but i hated her after like the middle of season 4. she truly started changing after that point.
I just moved for college to another city without knowing anybody and I feel so lonely. I miss my parents so so much and I turn 20 in a few months.... what kind of baby am I?
Aww, it's ok! You aren't a baby. It's normal to feel this way when you leave your parents for the first time. Even my guy friends in college sobbed hysterically when their parents dropped them off. Everyone goes through this. It gets easier though. I promise!
I'm in my forties and still sad to leave my family and hometown after a visit, though I left more than twenty years ago. It only shows how strong a bondage you have. I consider missing my family a gift.
"miss my mommy" is a sing that you were a very lucky child a a very lucky person.
I know, the moment my parents dropped me off at college, I was like bye!
@@erincosta565 same here.

Agree with you. They are very close, Rory once said that she needs her mommy and dammit I don't care who's knows it.
Luke knew he'd give the truck to Lorelai. He likes to argue to keep it interesting.
Gilmore Girls make me nostalgic af, I don't even care that I'm a dude, this show was my childhood.
Dude my 67 year old manly man dad watched it with me when it aired and will still watch with me over and over now! You’re good!
@@MHWM2014 that's so sweet . ❤️
Guys can love The Gilmore Girls too! Totally cool, my dude!
"I would do that." Love her so much.
i cried like a baby when my parents left me at college. it was so embarrassing!
roter13 I bawled like a baby when my parents drove out of the parking lot when they dropped me off at college

She can and darn it she did 🤣🤣I loved how he didn’t care about her shenanigans
She can get up earlt and leave.
I cried the first couple of nights in my dorm (which was supremely small and meant for two people but had three) cause I missed my mom too.
i cried about leaving my parents in the middle of the summer one random night, after that not a tear about it lol.
This was the saddest moment on the show for me. My first day in boarding school went almost exactly like this :(

I like this episode...especially with the mattress and the frustration Luke had...

My mom and me are starting to get more like Lorelai and Rory when I moved to my university:P Love my mom :)
I know this is the wrong goal, because enmeshment and blah, but also .... that's how safe she feels with her mom. .... Goals. ....

Yes, thanks. :)
Or I just always say "gee, you´re hair smells terrific" all the time.
But then they think I´m a freak. :)
This is gonna happen to me when I go off to college. I'll be calling my momma#2, though!
@butterflilyn nice :) which season is it?
Haha genius!
I was just kidding. :)
Yes, just being friendly helps a lot.
Thanks!
Everyone in the comments crying for their parents when they moved out while my mom and I were relieved, haha! So weird to see.
I am 35 and miss my mom on a daily basis. But she died 6 m8nths ago, so ir's not quite the same. 😑
You'll be fine, just give it a bit. Or you can throw a great get together like these 2 did. ^_^
I´m not a good example...Poor Lorelay
@ggaddict1537 I do!!! ;):):)
