  • In this step by step tutorial I will walk you through how to use Iron-On Vinyl, also known as Heat Transfer Vinyl or HTV, using the Cricut EasyPress Mini. You can also use a home iron, larger EasyPress or heat press for this project. We will be using both regular iron-on and glitter iron-on vinyl in this tutorial. I will be applying our design to a baby diaper shirt (bodysuit) but you can use another shirt if you'd like.

      Thanks for the suggestions. I do have a video about uploading images to design space. The video doesn’t show Etsy but it is a similar process. You can check out that video here ruclips.net/video/yWwxGHVfAx0/видео.html
      Ironing onto a sweater or a tote bag would be similar to ironing on anything else. Check out Cricut’s heat guide for times and duration. Be carful with some tote bags, as some have a plastic material in them and they may melt. If your unsure, just press for a little bit and make sure nothing is melting and then continue pressing. For adult size sweaters I recommend using a larger heat press, unless you are doing a small image. All the best.

    • @littlecraftnest
      @littlecraftnest  Год назад +1

      Yes so many decisions when starting out. I honestly love both for different reasons. For adult t-shirts I 100% prefer my large stationary heat press as it’s best for consistent results over a large surface. I love my mini for quick small projects and for things like adding vinyl to a stuffed animals - which I would not do with my large press. So both are great for different jobs.

      Great question. I would recommend getting a larger heat press for this type of project. The mini is more for small projects. You may have a difficult time with heat consistently and pressure when doing a large project like this. I would recommend a large easy press or a claim shell press.

      I have never had vinyl come off in the wash. The trick is to have the correct heat setting for the right amount of time with the right amount of pressure. I’m sorry you are having difficulty, that must be very frustrating. Here are a few suggestions.
      - make sure you are using iron-on vinyl
      - if your vinyl was somehow exposed to moisture it may not work, try a different roll
      - if you are using a shirt that was washed with fabric softener it may have a hard time adhering
      - try applying a little pressure to your easy press mini, while pressing
      - you can always try another brand of Iron-on vinyl, I recommend Siser HTV but you will have to apply heat for an additional 10sec using Siser with the mini press.
      - make sure your press is fully heated
      All the best. I hope you can get it to work.

      Great question! Yes you could but it would take a little longer than the recommended time as you will be passing over a larger area. If you plan to make lots of shirts I would consider investing in a larger easy press or clamshell heat press. All the best!

    • @littlecraftnest
      @littlecraftnest  2 года назад +1

      Hi! That can be frustrating. I’m sorry this is happening. I never wash shirts before hand. Simple because I usually give them as gifts and I want them to look new. If your HTV is peeling off it may have not been applied well. A few things to check - make sure can see the textures of the fabric showing through your vinyl. If you don’t press a little firmer and a little longer doing your best to equally distribute heat and pressure. Also be sure to wait 24 hours after applying your design before you wash it turning your garment inside out. You can also double check Cricut’s heat guide for times and temperatures. I hope this helps. Happy Crafting!

      The best thing to use is a heat mat. Other hacks you can try are a mouse pad on top of a hard surface or a cutting board. If you are using the mini press you can move it around your surface. If you are using a larger EasyPress it must stay in the same place. Good luck and have fun!

    Can we use it on swimwears? Polyester/Nylon & Spandex fabrics?

    • @littlecraftnest
      @littlecraftnest  2 года назад +1

      Great question. Yes you can use it on different fabrics! I have personally not tried Iron-on vinyl on swimwear but I have seen it done. When using a stretchy fabric consider using Stretch HTV rather than regular iron-on, so that your vinyl stretches with the fabric. Fabrics such as nylon and spandex would need lower heat settings. Also make sure you are protecting your fabric by using a Teflon sheet or parchment paper. Refer to the Cricut Heat Guide for proper times and temperatures (link in description). When in doubt test a small unnoticeable area of the garment with a little star or heart. Thanks for watching.

      @@littlecraftnest That's a very great response thank you a lot! If I can explain the situation better I have actual swimwears where the glitter letters is already printed on the fabric. However, even though it's washing machine resistant, the glitters flakes a lot and some letters tend to fall off too. I just want to stick them for good (no flakes and no fall out letters anymore). So I don't need to transfer anything on it since the glitters is already there, but I need to transfer heat to stick it for good. Do you know what should I use? I already have the cricut mini heat press, but what material do I need? Transparent vinyl?
      Thank you again

    • @littlecraftnest
      @littlecraftnest  2 года назад +1

      It really depends how the image was originally applied, if it was silk screen or sublimation you may not be able to apply the original design. If it was HTV you may be able to just put a Teflon sheet on top of the pieces that are lifting up and apply some heat with your mini press and see if they re-stick. If the pieces peeling are standing up and won’t lay flat use some heat resistant tape or left over iron-on carrying sheet to press down the pieces. Then lay the Teflon or parchment on top and use mini press to press. When finished remove tape. Hopefully that helps. Good luck!

    how do you make photo shirts using this mini press

    • @littlecraftnest
      @littlecraftnest  2 года назад

      Great question. If you are making photo shirts you would either need to use sublimation or printable vinyl. I highly recommend getting a larger press to make photo shirts such as a claim shell press or large Cricut easy press. It would be tricky using the mini press for large photo designs as you would not get consistent pressure on each spot. If you are doing a small photo image you could use the easy press mini, you would need to follow the instructions for the method you are using whether that is sublimation or printable vinyl. That would be a great topic for another video!

    The vinal isn't sticking for me and I keep messing up projects how do I fix that?

    • @littlecraftnest
      @littlecraftnest  Год назад

      Sorry you’re having difficulty. Make sure you are pressing for the right amount of time and at the right temperature. Give a little more pressure if it doesn’t seem to be sticking. Check out Cricut’s heat guide to make sure you are using the right settings. To remove vinyl you’ve messed up you can place your mini press behind the image under the fabric for a few second and gently peel up the old vinyl using tweezers. I hope this helps.

    My first 3 shirts did well but this last one the lettering doesn’t want to adhere to the shirt

      That can be frustrating. A few things to check for… amount of pressure, heat setting and time. Also if the shirt had previously been washed with fabric softener it can cause the HTV not to stick. Double check Cricut’s heat guide for proper settings and keep in mind the mini press is not ideal for large designs because you won’t get even distribution of heat and pressure.

    So do you need iron on vinyl to do this?

      Yes you do. Iron On is also called HTV Heat Transfer Vinyl.
