Kelly is such an icon, my favourite Emily line is from the period after she discovers the letter from Richard's mother. To this day I still quote "Well then buy me a boa and drive me to Reno, because I am open for business!" 😂❤
I’m rewatching GG & I love it as much as the 1st time!
Emily could so very easily be a very hatable character with some of the things she does but Kelly plays the character so well you can’t help but love her. She steals every scene that she is in.
Emily Gilmore is ICONIC
We missed out on Emily's family background. It would've been so interesting to see her own dynamic with her mother and sister (they briefly mentioned a sister and then never talked about her again). 4x16 was amazing, Kelly was hilarious in that. Emily's character arc is the most satisfying of them all. Everyone's acting was a little off in AYITL, but Kelly's was still as fresh as decades ago. Will definitely read her book soon! :)

The DAR scene may be the best bitch slap sequence ever aired on television. Without pausing for breath Emily devastates the snide, pretentious DAR members, the gold-digging trophy wife, and (although we never see him) the trophy-wife's much-married old husband, who treats his spouses as disposable conveniences. At the end she departs with her head held high, leaving only scorched earth behind her.
The spa episode is so comforting to me. Emily stealing a robe, eating at a bar, dancing with another man… We stan edgy Emily.

My favorite line of hers was after she found out that Richard still has occasional dinners with his ex Penolyn Lott (sp?)
She’s in the basement trying to find luggage to go to Europe and her and Richard have a little spat and Richard says he can’t deal with her and he’s going to bed to which she replies “You go to bed, I’ll go to France”
