Never heard a pianist with such a beautiful touch! He was and is my all favourite pianist. I attended many of his recitals in Amsterdam and it was not unusual that he gave 9 encores after his official recital. When I'm in London, I certainly will visit his grave at Highgrove West cemetery, to bring some flowers.💐
Marvellous. This piece often sounds like a technical tour de force and therefore hard and showy. Cherkassky makes it pure poetry and sensitive musicality. What a joy to hear.
Il Maestro SC si innalza su tutti per la Poesia del suo tocco, in pieno e profondo stile Chopeniano... Scuola di Odessa ai massimi livelli di Eccellenza!
Amazing! Even by Cherkassky's best standards and by my own experience of his playing, this is exceptional. The Chopin of my imagination, completely fluide and flexible; expect the unexpected! This was always one of his best pieces, how wonderful that this version (from where..?), has been preserved. Thank you for posting it.
@@bosiljkavujovic9376 I was listening your suggestion. I like Sultanov , but not in Chopin. Sultanov had some really great ideas, and voicings, but he did not touch my heart at all. How ever if you prefer rather aggressive fiery and overwhelming type of Chopin's 4th Ballade, you can listening it by Zoltan Kocsis. (In case of Chopin I still prefer the old school , like Cherkassky, Cortot, Feinberg, Hofmann, Friedmann, Horowitz, Rachmaninoff, Moiseiwitsch etc. and...and... M. V. Pletnev)

Magician Cherkassky is my absolute No1 of ALL pianists EVER!
Una delle più grandi interpretazioni di questa ballata...
His phrasing always gets me, many of his Schumann recordings are amonst my favourites.
