  • The Sequoia finally receives a new look from Toyota. The TRD Pro version gets a special grill, heritage badge, 18in forged BBS wheels, TRD running boards and cat-back exhaust. On the inside there are heated/ventilated seats, 14in infotainment system and panoramic roof. Under the hood is a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 hybrid mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. After seeing the 3rd row review, it was already positioned back as far as it went. There in NO space for teens/adults if they’re 5 ft 7+. I was really trying to convince my wife that we could make this work for our family of 6. But dang, can’t seem to stretch it out. Unless they were to extend this Toyota “Grand Sequoia”! We would undoubtedly make it our family purchase! Hopefully Toyota is listening and knows that families want to truly adventure. NOT in a “Highlander” either.

  • @edwarddejong8025
    @edwarddejong8025 Год назад +13

    A pretty competitive product. I guess the super heavy weight (6000 lbs) meant the hybrid approach didn't yield great results. A lot more complexity with a Hybrid compared to a V8, and that old V8 Sequoia had legendary reliability. This system will be jam packed with non-redundant sensors, and can't possibly last as long.

    • @PWCDN
      @PWCDN Год назад +1

      it's crazy to own something that big and it only sits 7 max (and not 8, anything sedan or bigger can sit 5 for perspective) and also have limited cargo space with or without 3rd row passengers because the seats are bolted on and are 3 inches thick folded down and stays above the floor. Just horrible design with extremely limited use case useless use case is compromise on everything 24/7/365.

    • @99-Zulu
      @99-Zulu Год назад +1

      @@PWCDN
      You do realize that this is a common trend with higher-end trim levels right? Most of the time the lower-end trims in any 3 row comes with 8 passenger set up. Once you get into the mid-level and above they come with 7 passenger as option then standard on high-end trim levels. The Tahoe, Suburban, Expedition, Explorer, Armada, Highlander, the new Grand Highlander, Traverse, Durango, Yukon, Palisade, Telluride, CX-9, CX-90, Pilot, Escalade all follow this trend. I can keep going but that would be redundant. 7 passengers is fairly common in all of them when you opt to pay for one of the higher-end trim levels.

    • @edwarddejong8025
      @edwarddejong8025 Год назад

      @@PWCDN You have brought up a salient weak point in the Japanese product mentality, which is to tread the compromise path for characteristics. No sharp corners, no unreliability, no leaks, good solid engineering but always being bland. If you want a bland, compromise vehicle, you will end up with a Tesla or other skateboard Chassis EV, as it has the fewest moving parts, and simplest structure. For an ICE vehicle going forward, it better be very tailored to a purpose, like the Ford Bronco or Jeep; it pushes out into a set of uses very far, and it isn't compromised. This Sequoia is going to be a very expensive product, and i think you are right that it will not dislodge the Tahoe at $70k price point.

      @@RaitisRides Sequoia 3rd row sits too high and only suitable for kids. The trunk storage all uneven and no flat folding is a big zonk. The two biggest selling points of the Sequoia they fumbled...3rd row and storage. Gas mileage compared to the GH is horrible. The front ground clearance of the Sequoia front bumper is more like a sports car than a sports SUV. Sequoia will run you $20-$30k more than GH. What's the sales case for the Sequoia
