So, a little note for any who are watching. At least PART of the reason for the difficulty with fitment on the collector - your template was RIGHT, but it was a flat template for the flat end of a collector. Then you laid it on a round head and curved it around - which causes it to have a short axis for both height and width. This was the reason you had to do all the trimming and fitting. As you found out, this leaves your horizontal width an inch or two too small, and even the vertical height an inch or so to short as well. There are ways to prevent, or at least minimize this, but it is a common problem people don't think about. If you had had a flat ended pipe, this wouldn't have been a problem at all. Welcome to the challenges of a build like this. But this is also how you learn to overcome and eventually avoid them. Good work. And I agree, Mike at Mystic is the man!

Nice job. Hope to build my own sometime. These videos help in understanding the build process.

Great video and good looking smoker. A tip for all that I also learned the hard way. When cutting out the doors cut the vertical cuts and just the corners of the horizontal. Then I hand bent the bars a bit so they where close. Then tac welded the top and bottoms of the vertical bands to the tank (extra long past the length I needed). Then tac to the door. Then cut out the horizontal part of the door. Let it cool all the way down and then cut out the vertical tac’s. This will keep the door from warping as much. Keep it up and keep the videos coming. Great work and be safe.

Nice video. Just a note on the editing. When you're talking from about 9:37-10:53 has music over it and we can't hear what you are saying. Don't know if that was by design or not.

Thank you! YES!!! it has been driving me crazy I accidentally missed it when I did the first review, the only way I can fix it is by re-uploading a new video… I tried fixing it in RUclips Studios last night, but there’s no way to separate my audio and video 😡 but will certainly do my due diligence on the next video haha and thanks for checking out the channel means a lot!

Is there a reason why you went with the 8 inch stack over the 6 inch stack? I'm gonna build my own smoker.
Trying to figure out stack size is driving me crazy.

So I just went with the biggest collector that I could get… 8” my reasoning being if it’s too big, I can always damp it, down but if it’s to small I can’t get it to draw so that’s my reasoning, probably not the best I’m sure someone with fluid dynamics. Education could do a lot better. And it’s 7 foot tall but I will be hinging the smokestack.
