    Awesome. Only thing I might do would be to add a safety pin to the folding counter weight

    I almost never comment on RUclips videos, but Sir, you have made one hell of an impressive smoker. I love seeing innovation of this magnitude, and your explanation / description of everything is top notch. Overall this is incredibly impressive and thank you so much for taking the time to show us what you're building.

    this is a great design. I'm excited to see the results of some of your cooks. What really sets this offset from the vast majority of the market is the 100% usability of the cooking grate. Goldees offset, from what I've seen, is the only other design to have a 100% usable cooking area. You need to see if you can get a patent on the 'diffuser". it's definitely a game changer.

    Best offset smoker design and build I’ve seen 🔥. Manufacturers will definitely like the firebox diffuser design so you may want to look into a patent 😂. Excellent work! Would love my 1st offset purchase to have a design like this 🫡

    Wow! You should have been an engineer. A lot of trial an error into your work I can see. Very nice work there fella. That's what's nice about building and designing your own what ever it is. Time and money is no concern, only perfection. And I think you succeeded in your venture of perfection!

    Get a brisket going, por favor..... nice design utilizing fluid dynamics, differential equations and all that fancy schmancy stuff. I can see where that diffuser being on top of the firebox is going to increase air speed increase chamber pressure and overwhelm the stack. Instead of the stack drawing on the chamber creating a low pressure area. Should still work when you find the proper tune on the damper.... Looking forward to some results....
    I helped my welder father build an offset when I was 14 and it weighed around 1000 lbs and took a winch to move. The firebox was 36” casing and 1/2” thick.....chamber was 24” casing and 3/8” thick. He cooked hundreds of briskets on it from 1978 - 2002 back when briskets were $0.69/lb. I couldn’t get it when he passed because I didn’t have a wench truck so his best friend took it... I am 60 now....

      I started out with a chimney starter of lump charcoal and 3, 16" splits. It was way too much. It had to run for about 2 hours before the temps quit trying to run between 350 and 400°. It looks like it likes 12" splits added one at a time.

    Are you going to use a water pan with your smoker

    • @KerryMooney-rl6oh
      @KerryMooney-rl6oh  26 дней назад

      I do not plan on using a water pan. It has been my experience, based on several years using a Weber Smokey Mountain, that the main reason for a water pan is to even out harsh temps. This smoker does not have the harsh temps of typical offset smokers. I may test a water pan and change my mind later, but for now that's my thoughts.

      @@KerryMooney-rl6oh Did you base your opening from the firebox into your "deflector" from a calculator such as Feldons? You mention an adjustable part in your deflector as well as a curved piece. More details on all of that would be great. Can't quite make it all out in the video.
