I like the video, but allow me one constructive feedback: edit out the ChatGPT bs phrases. "The numbers? They are impressive", "Real game changer" etc. The endless repetition of these phrases makes it really hard to watch the video.
Lol, and in North America we talk about how these amazing bubble dome chairs are now getting installed. Yeah, there is a reason why I stopped flying west and started flying east for my ski trips. Whistler you can keep your $150 lift tickets and 4/6 pack chairlifts for yourself. I'll be sitting in my cozy gondola in France or the 4 stop subway in ski town of Serfaus with my kids (yes really, the ski town has a subway), not listening to them whine about being cold.
I'll be at Les Arcs and Val d'Isere the coming winter, cant wait I hope they built that Saalbach Xpress lift to Viehofen in the near future, it has been silent over a year now
Fantastic information video. The new lifts are truly innovative and certainly pushing the boundaries! Would love to try them all but Pila was my favourite because the architecture of the building at the top is incredible!
Amaizing engineering, as an engineer I love this stuff :-). But the more bodies you get up the more there are to come back down. After all what goes up must come down. This will just equate to even more crowded pistes, because as we know motorways only serve to generate even longer queues at the ends of them!
This is so true! Good for the mountains that offer riding down to the villages, for those where you have to download via a lift it could be a long wait.
OH MY GOD. DUDE SOUNDS LIKE HE'S READING FROM A MILLION BAD PRESS RELEASES. SAY SOMETHING IN YOUR OWN WORDS FFS PLEEEEEASE! As a fellow Aussie, I am embarrassed
Great video - you missed out the new St Gervais infrastructure. We have a brand new lift straight from the train station in Le Fayet which now runs 365 days a year and links to another brand new gondola up to St Gervais le Bettex. The lift from the valley floor will significantly reduce car journeys up the hill to St Gervais.
Thanks for taking the video in the first place! We LOVE LOVE LOVE watching your videos and have been watching them in preparation for our first trip to Europe. We are also trying to learn German and your videos are a great help 😁
Hi, nice video thanks, but the les arcs one seems very misleading. first, the old lift is the transarc which goes from 1800 to the aiguille grive. you keep showing the upper cable car up to aiguille rouge. different mountain. the old transarcs was slow but 20 minutes? i dont think so. there is no 360 panorama at the top. the aiguille grive is in the way. i dont know the new arrangement, but the escalators dont go to the actual lift itself, just the ticket office, but i could be wrong. but it is looking like a goodlift. it will still be busy and the ticket office will be slow because of the workers and cofusing system. ill post back in 6 weeks when i am there.
It's Shilt-horn not Shil-thorn! But the thing that really gets me about this video is the amount of money resorts are spending at a time of uncertainty about the future of skiing in Europe.
I like all these projects and support the marvellous engineering behind them. But let’s stop saying, “it’s reducing its environmental impact.” We can call them more efficient or modern, but I get sick when operators feel the need to label their projects as “green” for political reasons. For example, pylon reductions in Val d’Isère is more aesthetic and nature-friendly, but it’s not “greener.” On-demand system in Laax is certainly more efficient, but not “green.” These developments want to increase their accessibility, not reduce it. And let’s not talk about the thousands of tons of concrete, massive mountaintop buildings, huge station groundwork, and larger, faster gondolas-all of which are meant to increase sport activity year-round, not diminish it.
you might have mentioned the new lift over at La Plagne up to their Glacier. got lots of eco about it. They shut some other areas of the glacier access and opened up a new station up top. pretty schmick. only opened last season... or maybe it might only be open for this season. either way pretty new. i think its also 6m p/s.
Maybe i'm in the minority, but i can't stand gondolas. I don't like the hassle of having to get skis off for a start, then there is the fact you are in a small bubble with a load of other people all breathing the same air, making a flu like infection far more likely during your holiday. When was that a problem recently...? And if you need a heated seat, your gear is not good enough for the conditions. The other issue herein is the number of bodies going up. This is making overcrowding a signficant problem. If you simply replace all the older lifts with higher capacity, without adding new lifts and opening up lots new terrain in so doing, there are too many people at pinch points making accidents far more likely.
wow. you;d HATE Kronplatz over in the Dolomites. its a lovely resort and great ski area but almost entirely served by Gondolas. nothing quite like it. about 80-90% gondolas ! yes there's a time for skiing straight onto a chair. and taking your skis off at all runs a bit over the top. but i much prefer a gondola to sit in and relax. tho 90% of all lifts gondolas is over done. nice resort tho.
@jimbosaul3996 Well i may not hate the resort it would depend on the quality of the skiing really. I do use these lift types in 3 Valleys where I usually ski but not most of the time. Only normally when it's a powder day 😎 cause you can access certain really nice off piste areas via a few gondolas or the cable car at Val Tho. But other than that I avoid them 👍 There are more than enough chairs though. Just wish they hadn't replaced the morraine chair in VT with a gondola used to use it regularly, now hardly ever.

In Pila for season 2024-2025 only the second sector to Couis will be in operation. The first sector will be built later.

Great choices for the French Alps! There is a lift from Schmittenhohe to Viehofen, is that the one you are referring too?
Fantastic information video. The new lifts are truly innovative and certainly pushing the boundaries! Would love to try them all but Pila was my favourite because the architecture of the building at the top is incredible!
Glad you like them!
le fayet -st.gervais has had major new cablecars added, which will change the areas forever

Sounds like a game changer we missed! Thanks for adding your comment :)
So many resorts, so little time..
You took the words right out of our mouths Steve
amazing film, great job :) I have to revisit Les 2 Alpes and check new Jandri :)
Thank you! I hope your visit to Les 2 Alpes is amazing 🤩
Being able to transports twice or even three times the number of skiers per hour into a hill sounds good. But is it?
Thanks for taging me in your Video!😊

@snowstash Very nice 🙂

20 minute rides? Dang
East coast USA is like idk
5 minutes max!
Can't even imagine
Ski lifts in the US are WW2 stuff compared to Europe. The rides that are covered here are extra long and steep.
1:17 the new lift has the same capacity as the old one
More in Ski Circus besides Zwölfer Nordbahn, they also build a new Streubödenbahn in Fieberbrunn. Nice video though!

The lifts themselves are the attraction and part of the resort offers. Particularly in Switzerland, they have very strong summer tourism.

Tbh, these are all very valid points!
Yeah typical American mentality. They have windows and the Europeans are way ahead in design and thinking 😂

why does he sound like a airport announcer
Sounds like the Jet2 flight attendant reading the script about what duty free perfumes they have on sale.
Good report. Terrible pronunciation.
