This is from a spectacularly fertile period, I'd heard the full effect of Steve's commanding magic the following year at Seventh Avenue South with Ray Drummond in the band. No one had so fully absorbed Sonny and Trane into their own voice like Steve Grossman, he remains the most compelling tenor talent of his generation.
He told me about this session when I visited him in New York what aTRULY AMAZINGINGLY player who can NEVER be replicated as Dave liebmansaid he was the best of all of us thank you you STEVE from Nigel Nash in Great Britain B
Unbelievable!!! I got to hear Steve in 1984 which was in the Summer in Perugia and also Nice. Steve was burning with a quartet co-led buy drummer Joe Chambers. But he is really taking this to the limit....well, I don't know if he had any limits. Just incredible and thank you so much for putting this up. Id love to hear more from this performance is there is more!!
Blessed to know, study, and play with him. He was a fabulous teacher too. By the way this tape is fast. You have to remember this was the days of cassette tape, NO internet and even if you slow it down on your computer, it's still the wrong key.

What is the subject and teaching style he emphasizes the most in his education?

Sick! its a half step up rom the og key its usually played in,so it's probably
fast, not that they couldn't play this tempo.
So sorry to hear passing of Steve Grossman. RIP Thanks for sharing this. Did you tour with Steve?
