For a game about rolling dice, there's a surprising amount you're in control of in this game. All the information you need is perfectly laid out and you can stop rolling whenever you feel like to test out results.
My thoughts exactly. Despite the core of the game being around dice rolls I almost always felt like any loss was my own fault rather than feeling like I was cheated.
There's also so much content and depth and unlockable crack in this game that it feels like someone took a really compelling core game and then spent a decade modding the christ out of it, but it all still works because the core gameplay is just solid and it hits the balance between puzzle solving, general game sense, and luck, along with well thought out monsters and bosses that can reliably counter particular strategies. Also the unlocks are so well thought out that I think it's kind of a shame there's just a button to skip everything and unlock it but I get that someone who bought it on itchio and then got the mobile version or lost their save might want to skip everything. I just think people would miss out on a lot of the fun of it because the pacing of unlocks sort of guides you in a logical way through the various different modes
Truly something I need to say is your script writing, quirky little jokes and small animations with the text and hand drawn images. All of these small things help make each one of your videos so special to watch. On top of that you immerse yourself in the game you're playing to give us, the viewer, the best and most knowledgeable experience you can deliver. I appreciate all of it that you do and it's truly inspiring to work hard in so many small areas. You rock sl1ppey and this video was incredible.
I was lucky enough to hear many good things about this game and finding out it was available on mobile was the icing on the cake for me. One thing I want to highlight is the initial mobile version (and I assume the Steam demo as well) are very lucrative in terms of content available before paying, and paying for the full game basically doubles the amount of base content from the demo as well as many, MANY more features to enjoy. Having a blast with it so far, can't wait for it to pick up more steam so more people can enjoy this masterpiece!
Playing a game in the shower is actually the highest praise you can give something, wow. Looks like I'll have to change up my dungeon dice monster bath time into slice and dice shower hour. Great video man, appreciate how in-depth you went with the mechanics this time. And letting you know I made a shout out segment for you in my newest video! Your work's been inspiring to me and seeing your growth as a video maker from video to video has been amazing. Makes me super happy to see you getting attention from the dev's themselves for the games you talk about. That's how you know your doing something right. Take your time on your break and looking forward to your next project man!!
Nice! This sums up my feelings about the game really well too. I would add only one thing which is that even though the game does tend to suck your day away, it is also VERY easy to play for short bursts as well. You can open the app quickly and jump directly to the exact spot you left off at, and then put it back in your pocket 5 seconds later without being afraid of it losing any progress. Every single thing you do is saved! (of course, this takes away the force-close cheese option that you can use on Peglin and Slay the Spire when things don't go your way during a battle... but that's probably for the best)
Very true! Played it at the gym a few times playing a turn>set>play a turn>set I had to stop though when I caught myself standing in the middle of the gym playing for 10+ minutes doing nothing :s
@sl1ppey so are you gonna play other games in the next live since you've reviewed this game? Also, it's my first time seeing my account in ytber video, I'm so happy!!! 5:25
@@sl1ppey Now, as someone that’s not a huge fan of the twinstick type roguelikes/lites, I still think it’s pretty good. Might suffer from the Ax-olotl (I can never remember how they spell it) problem of having too many systems in place with some of them being kinda underwhelming
i absolutely love this game. perfect for mobile. easy to pick up and play in short bursts, pause to get some work done, and no gotcha system. I gladly pay $9 for this game.
Really a great game. I rediscovered it on mobile (after watching some youtubers some year(s) ago), and jeah its just perfect for a train ride or something. Maybe im just bad but hard mode really effs me up so i put it down after some time, still crazy game and i probably only saw like 10 percent of the content
I've been playing this on mobile since like v1.x and it's been a treat It's free to download but you're locked into a demo mode - unlocking the full version is only about $7 though and even if you don't buy into that you still get a hefty chunk of content out of it The only gripe I have with S&D is the generated heroes feel wildly balanced, but often end up feeling worse than the premade counterparts of their tier Other than that it's a great time, and I've thought about comparing it to being a foil of Dicey Dungeons (mainly in the dice, over there you had generic dice that could be used for a variety of side-agnostic functions)
I found it on google play on my phone and its pretty cool, i would buy the premium version if it would be a little cheaper or at least longer (yeah ik that in the full version there is 20 "rooms" but its still pretty short)
Thought this would be too minimal for me, but it’s perfect for playing it on my phone. Also the free demo version is super smart and generous. Bought the full version after 2 demo runs
You should make a video on darkest dungeon (which slightly strays away from the roguelite formula) or it’s sequel which follows the formula more closely but still maintains many features from game 1
@@leafdude92 I’ll be back SoonTM (I know it’s been 6+ months, but I’m slowly working my way mentally to getting back into things, did a bit of scriptwriting the other day.)
Hey man, love your videos! And i know this might be obvious, but i would love to hear your thoughts on Risk of Rain or its sequel, especially with the "new" dlc and updates having been mixed.
Solid review. It's hard to find good games on Mobile from a primarily PC gamer perspective, they are there though case and point Slice & Dice. Between all the pay to win / casual / badly supported games you also need to sort through all the recommendations for games that are just better on PC like Dead cells and Stardew valley. Or games like Soul Knight which imo also aren't best on Mobile. The screen is just too small, touch screen is only good for certain types of games, you want to be able to stop at any time and should not take a lot of time anyway. Not anything against those that do play these on Mobile. But with so many games / so little time I rather be picky. The 2 others games besides Slice & Dice I found so far that I can recommend are Dawncaster and Meteorfall: Krumit's Tale. Definitely open for suggestions though. Also just channels I can watch for these kind of recommendations.
Mortismal Gaming is pretty good although he seems to lean towards more RPGs and such. I also like Easy Allies, which are made up of a lot of people who formerly worked at GameTrailers. Personally think their reviews are the best “professional” style reviews out there.

Slice and dice that mfn like button

It’s to gambling what nicotine gum is for smokers.
Especially with characters named "Gambler" and "Gamblest"
