If you're in the market for a luxury compact crossover, you have plenty of options. Along with the German standards (the Audi Q5, BMW X3, and all-new 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class), the 2023 Acura RDX competes with the Lexus RX, Infiniti QX50, and Genesis GV70. While the 2023 RDX looks ready for a redesign, the current generation still has a few points in its favor. Conservative but attractive styling, a potent powertrain (although no hybrid is available), and a comfortable cabin make it a strong buy. Reliability is never mentioned in luxury category reviews. Mercedes, Audi and BMW kill you after 60k miles. Honda based cars will get you to 150k trouble free. That is such a big deal. I’ll never buy an Audi or BMW again.
Agree.
Absolutely
Had mine for 5 years, no issues at all. Trading for a 2023 A spec Elite, delivery on July 10. Could not find anything better!
Same. My Q5 makes me say I'll stay far away from Audi!
I have had 9 Hondas since 1981...they all have been great 😊
I like the RDX, size, design, and features, especially on the A-Spec trim. However, I believe it’s time for Acura to redesign the center stack.
I daily drive a 2019 RDX A-Spec. I am now at 80,000 miles of trouble free driving. I have Eibach springs which lower the car about 2”. I replaced the stock brakes with drilled/slotted rotors and carbon ceramic pads. I run Michelin PilotSport 4 SUV at a larger and wider than stock. This car is the best I have ever owned. Period!
That’s crazy I just hit 30,000 miles on my 2019 RDX
I beat you all lol....I have an Acura Rdx 2019, that I bought in March 2019 and it's advanced model and my mileage will make u throw up...I have 3500 miles on it lol. Let me explain why...I fully work from home so no commute and I'm a very conservative driver. It's a fantastic car...agreed...
Good review. I’m and RDX owner and am very happy with my choice. Features, Value, and low maintenance. Love the sexy German models right up until you pay the maintenance bills.
62K on my 2020 RDX. Fun to drive and safe. Specifically, it made a complete emergency stop during an accident (traffic jam) on the ramp and saved us.
My wife and I love our Acura RDX 2019. It’s such a comfortable and fun car to drive
I took delivery of a new 2023 RDX A-Spec Advance (the exact interior and exterior color as the one reviewed) a week ago. No regrets. Very fun to drive. I also had concerns about the track pad, but once you get things set up to your preference, it's not hard to live with. Things like controlling audio volume, navigating through your music choices, answering the phone can be done on the steering wheel. Also Apple CarPlay is easy to use and voice controls work well. As pointed out, the HVAC system and seat heating/ventilation are done with hard buttons. And the HUD is fantastic!
I ❤ the 2023 Acura RDX A- Spec
Great review! I will be back to hear more from you.
How is the front grill a little outdated?
I appreciate the fact that this review gave the pros and cons of the RDX unlike other reviews that just go over the press kit. Artificial engine noise is piped in through the speakers. Hopefully the 2025 model will have a touchpad and improved gas milage. Still my number one choice for a small SUV.
Every car reviewer seems obligated to bash Acura's track pad in favor of a touch screen. But the track pad works quite well and you get used to it quickly. I for one like reaching down to the pad as opposed to reaching up to a screen. I do agree with you on the transmission buttons and driving mode button: those are gimmicky and unnecessary... although if you criticize the RDX for having them I'd point out that the brilliant NSX does as well.
I think it’s because they only ever get the car for a few days at a time. Immediately intuitive isn’t necessary the best. If you can get some great advantages but you have to learn, it’s great for people who will live with them.
I have a Mazda CX-50. Everyone bashes the dial that's used for the infotainment. I like it because if it was a touchscreen touchscreen, it will look like you ate a bucket of KFC ....
I’ve been looking around at midsize suv I have to say I keep getting join back to the rdx it’s great for size not too small and every trunk. I’ve looked at the NX 350 to small look at the Mercedes GLC not really a fan and the BMW X.3 what I’m trying to decide on as if I should get the aspec advance or just the aspec
Appreciate the infotaiment comment: "I probably won't ever really like it." Wouldn't think of spending $50k for such a vehicle. The dash is hideous too. I'll wait for the '25 redesign.
We bought an RDX 2/2024. Love it. I have always loved my Honda Odyssey, and passed it down after 13 years of ownership, 120,000 miles, and still it has no noticeable issues Therefore, I knew I wanted to stay with Honda. My Acura is the perfect size for me, now that I am an empty nester. The center console is not an issue at all. I had to get used to the push button technology, but times they are a changing. I have tons of room in the front seat. All in all I love it!
Going from a 2018 Accord with the button shifter to a 2022 Colorado with a traditional shifter has really been a challenge to get used to again. The shifter is a bit in the way. I have to feel around to make sure I’m touching what I intend to touch. People knock the buttons. But it was easy to use.
I actually love the button shifter like you. It ergonomically functions well. Any car with the shift stick now feels weird and get in the way lol.
I completely agree. I use to own an Acura TLX and the buttons shifter was so easy and I didn’t even need to look because all the buttons felt different. Now I have a Range Rover with a rotary shifter and I put it into the wrong gear all the time. The people who hate the buttons have never owned a car with them because if the did they would know its so much better.
Why did you downgrade from the Honda to a Chevy? You could have bought the Ridgeline and gotten a much better vehicle plus with Honda quality.
my only gripe with the trackpad is that it sometimes isn't responsive when i use android auto. but I love the trackpad and the button press transmission. trackpad you can operate the infotainment system without leaning forward. i went from a 2016 scion tc to a 2020 rdx w/ tech package and i've never loved a car more, it's only been 3 weeks since i've owned it but it's so good.
track pad is perfect for me, since I use one on my laptop all day,
@@ssaini5028 that's a good point. it's very similar.
Black font for numbers on instrument displays , revise transmission buttons to reg shifter, get rid of claw taillights
Toss up between this and the boring Lexus RX. I’ll probably get the Acura. Good review.
One of the best in its class!
the center is such a deal breaker for me😭I want a shifter knob what is up with car companies putting buttons in the middle for drive, reverse and exctera
Good review, thanks!
The grill looks fine.
I'm getting one tomorrow.
Sis you end up getting this? Do you mind me asking the cost? I’m thinking of buying an A Spec soon.
Like the honda accord discontinued the 2.0T 10 spd well its still here little higher as a suv not bad
Test drove the RDX but found it a boring drive compared to the x3. Maybe i should’ve done sports mode? Also when it shifts gear, you felt the shift. My Tucson has shifts smoothly… don’t even realize it. Could it just been one bad apple? Interior however is beautiful. The seats def felt amazing.
The glare from the dashboard during the day is almost unbareable ….
no mention of the sliding armrest
One of my big concerns is the Run Flat tires. You did not review this issue.
I don't think this has run flats.
Amazing acura
Very happy with my 2019 RDX A Specs except for the stiff ride. Looking at trading for this model with the adaptative suspension...
Done - Metallic grey with red leather, delivery on July 10.
@@remiguertin6474 oooooooooooh sounds nice! Do you like it?
@@Twobarpsi It is my second one, best value for the money!
LOVE IT
Good looking and handling and nice engine and transmission. Too bad about that infotainment and layout of dashboard.
If I were in the market, the info-tainment touchpad could be a potential deal breaker. Otherwise, I think the center stack is a good balance of hard buttons .
Yea, I can’t stand it
Takes a couple hours to learn and customize. Not really an issue, but certainly understand why people get frustrated when not being able to do touchscreen at first. Almost everything I need to do can be done from steering wheel,or with Carplay voice command. But there is a learning curve 😊
Hasn’t been on the Honda platform since 2019 when it first got redesign I’m a proud owner of the 2019 I love it to death
The grill is nice. I
When Acura finally updates that entire console and gets more efficient, they can have my attention. For now, the winner continues to be Genesis
I do not like the console either. I thought about trading my vehicle for this suv until I saw the console.
I like the RDX but the infotainment is something that I cannot live with it
Is like going backwards
Have to wait for the next model to see if they fix that anachronism
When Acura brings back V6?
2.0L is too small.
That v6 uses a belt this is an upgrade
Just bought this car last night. Absolutely amazing!
How do u like it so far? Congratulations does it take premium gas only?
@@APOSTLESDOCTRINEPHOENIX I use whatever gas I can afford. You usually just get better performance with better gas. I LOVE it!!! Horrible gas mileage but I just don’t care. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@msullivan3531 ok ty !
I’m thinking of buying a 2023 A-Spec soon. So you like me asking - what you payed for yours? Also, what do you think about this car compared to a Volvo CX 60?
@@charismao5515 somewhere in the 50k region I think. I didn’t consider a Volvo. I generally love it. It has some quirks and the gas mileage is hideous but it is extremely comfortable with a ton of space.
How is this for some off-road?
Sometimes I regret not getting that blue color 😑
No way blue is hard to s3ll
Somebody tell me why the RDX has a 160 mph speedometer when it tops out at 115? I've been passed by lower powered vehicles like ordinary Honda Civic that tops out at 137 mph. Precision performance right?😂
Nigel Tufnel of Spinal Tap has an amp that goes to 11. When are you ever going to take this to max speed, whatever it is?
The dashboard is way too messy
Poor fuel economy is such a bummer!
Going to wait for the Mazda CX 70. I think that will be a game changer for the class.
Ya and then Acura will come out with the new ZDX and a new RDX with a Type-S variant. I would just wait on Acura than go with a Mazda.
The cx70 will be better with the rear bias awd. 5he cx 5 has been bullet proof
@@ontarioman6301 SH-AWD is rear bias also. Unless the CX-70 is actually RWD. Even so the quality and materials are nicer in an Acura. Mazda is an economy car brand.
@@AFCompany You obviously have not been in a recent Mazda or seen any reviews of recent Mazdas. Quality and materials on the interior of Mazdas is the current strong point and that has been an almost universal comment from the reviews. Recent Acuras have had issues noted on Consumer Reports and customer reviews.
@@kurtr1870 I have actually and while Mazda does have much nicer interiors than before and is fairly high quality for an economy car it is still a level under the materials a brand like Acura uses. Fit, finish, ride quality, handling, and cabin noise is much better in Acura. Mazda is getting praise because they are stepping up their game from where they were while Acura competes in the premium/luxury segment with much higher priced vehicles were that quality is expected. Also can never trust consumers reports of any brand. They are generally initial and not long term.
I love my RDX, especially the looks. Great car. Now let’s not mention the absolutely awful voice command features.
Way better than the new Lexus nx or even the RX
This is the only true competitor to the gv70
FR
Cannot get past the push button shifter or the infotainment.
Acura continues to search for its identity.
Acura/Honda will out last Bmw,audi, Mercedes-Benz any day !!! Want reliability go with Acura , honda or Toyota
RDX is too boring for the price. :(
This car is so sexy i want it bad
Ist das ein deutsches Auto? Nein, .... Acura
Brutal fuel economy. 👎🏼
Terrible infotainment system. 👎🏼
Boring, dull design. 👎🏼
Can’t wait for the new redesign and the electric engine! 😊
Overpriced!! Acura. Kia/hy better anyday..
Earth is flat
So is your brain..
No v6. Horrible touchpad. Grossly outdated. Wait until 2025. They’ll be giving these away from 2024 year
It’s ugly on the outside
Nah. It’s very attractive
Way better looking inside and out than the Lexus nx
@@naveenthemachine you know what is attractive Audi Q5 and X3 and Even Stelvio
@@zm4242 also gv70 and even the Mazda cx50 cx5. I’d also add the macan and to an extent even some mainstream ones like the tuscon or sportage
And boring on the inside
Literally the most comfortable seat I’ve ever experienced in any car.
zzzzzzzzzzzz same old fake talking,
