The 2022 Acura RDX Is A Sharply Styled & Driver Focused Luxury SUV

  • The #AcuraRDX has built its reputation as a premium compact SUV with a focus on driving performance. When this current generation came out in 2019, it represented a return to precision crafted performance for #Acura. For 2022, the #RDX gets some small tweaks that were centered around consumer feedback which includes expanded availability of the #RDXASpec trim to the Advance trim and new tech features like wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and wireless phone charging. It's still one of our favorite luxury SUV's for the money, but new competitors from Lexus and Genesis are equally as appealing.

Its been a while since we drove the current generation RDX that we forgot just how good this car is. Still an enticing luxury SUV with a ton of value baked in and we're glad to see Acura expanding the A-Spec package to the Advance trim. One error we want to notate, in the engine specs graphic, we accidentally listed it as a N/A engine, the engine is in fact turbocharged. Sorry for the confusion!

Casio can make an expensive watch and claim it is a better value than the Rolx or Omega just because Casio has a calculator built-in as well! but that never fools anyone into thinking Casio is a luxury watch like Rolex/Omega. RUclipsrs are tasked with promoting the idea that a Korean(!) brand with no heritage, prestige, presence, excellency or brand recognition is a luxury brand in the same league as BMW, MB, Audi, Lexus and Acura. Funny thing is that people younger than 30 actually buy that shit! they make fun of Acura and thing it is not in same league as Germans but would easily compare Genesis with Germans! it is all marketing shit

Don't waste your money on upper trims. Most of the changes are cosmetic. They all use the exact same engine and transmission. The base comes loaded with tons of features (pano sunroof, heated seats, heated steering, remote start, garage link, wireless apple/android, power tailgate, and plenty of safety features.) I've had mine since Jan 2022 and love it! I was debating between the RDX and the BMW X3m40i. The BMW is a lot faster and funner to drive but also is 25k more in Canada. I like how informative and neutral you were but at 18:05 when you compared this to the Genesis: Hyundai/Genesis as well as Kia had to recall hundreds of thousands of their vehicles again this year because of engine problems. Even professional mechanics and car enthusiasts as yourself have admitted that Hyundai tried too hard to push for a luxury brand to compete with its German and Japanese competitors. The result was a disastrous auto engineering, hence, why it has a 10-year warrant for its cars. Also, funny how you mentioned how the Lexus NX has more horsepower yet this vehicle could outdrive even its F sport trim. Between the two, I’d choose Acura for its renown Honda’s reliability and greater resale price.

I really don't understand all the love for Genesis. Chain link fence grill, tiny headlights with too large of a strip between the two, some hideously gaudy rim options, the interior is just a giant Kate Spade diamond stitched purse and the elliptical Art Deco or "retro futuristic" design details just don't go with anything on the vehicle. Talk about a schizophrenic design, I just don't understand it. To each their own, I suppose, but I have not heard anyone talk about why, specifically, they think it is so nice or talk about why they think the design is cohesive. It simply isn't. It is a jumbling of all kinds of design concepts thrown together and people seem to be gobbling it up. Someone please explain!

I went with a 2022 RDC A-Spec Advance, which I am finding drives very well as well as very comfortably and sporty enough for me with its engine and handling. Some may not like or prefer the design of this Acura, but it is a cohesive design (not perfect, mind you) unlike the random design elements of the G70, which I feel doesn't have an identity - or having a split personality, rather. I've watched many videos on it and looked at their website. I am so off put by the design that I don't even want to do a test drive because I could never see myself liking the aesthetic.

If you are seriously looking at this vehicle, please read this post plus test drive the vehicle and spend A LOT of time trying to use the Navigation/Radio/Car Play interface. I have owned an Acura RDX since 2011 including a 2021 RDX which has the same tech stack as the 2022. Acura completely ruined their vehicle with their True Touch interface. I am an accomplished technologist with a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins and this interface is by far the most user interface I have EVER experienced. You end up looking at the touch pad and the screen much more often because the touch pad is not intuitive AT ALL. We have had the car for almost two years and we still have not gotten used to it. Normal human touch interfaces involve dragging your finger across the touchpad to move the cursor. There is no virtual cursor, rather you touch on the remote touchpad in the area corresponding to the icon that you want to select. To make matters worse, this same interface is required to select and control apps using Apple Car Play. You need to use the same interface to even control the radio. Something as simple as controlling the radio has been made drastically more difficult because of the touch pad. I am unaware of ANY other interface that operates like this - it is not a better interface, it is SIGNIFICANTLY worse.
Shame on Acura for not providing a touch screen instead of the remote touchpad. It is TERRIBLE and I will not be getting another RDX when my current lease expires.
