- Hey guys! we done the wheel bearings / head stem bearings / linkage bearings so why not grease the swing arm pivot bearings to finish the job.

Mate how much forward and back play should the dampers have
Hey mate. Mine has alittle since new. From what I've read it's the side to side play that is the bad thing. Shouldnt be much forward and back. Maybe 3mm ish
This makes me not trust the dealership. It seems like the best jobs are the ones you do yourself. Great work and thanks for the tutorial.

Nice one mate...love your video tutorials...do you personally bother with specific torque settings when reassembling - or is that just too un-kiwi? (or un-australian)
I had a torque wrench that failed on me and I almost over tightened the drain bolt lol. Will probably get a small 1/4 one at some point. But if u have experience with not over tightening nuts and bolts. Or have a feel for it I think u should be algood.

Mine is a 2020 too and I have fun getting my hands dirty with it. It's a very informative video you put together but a few questions pop to mind:
Why not clean the axle tunnel altogether, in case there is some foreign matter in there? It would also satisfy the purists who don't like to mix grease types. And...
What type grease did you use? Only the ends get grease?
At what mileage interval should this be attempted?
I would appreciate your wisdom on the topic since I am a rather novice at this and I want to keep my DR for the long haul.
Appreciate the comment :) alot of the things are done off camera due to it not being convient or not usually worth showing. I wiped the the old grease off. I myself don't beleive in the mixing grease theory. I just applied some good waterproof wheel bearing grease with the "small amount suzuki supplied"" I think the intervals depends on the riding style if you ride through alot of water I would do it more often. Do what feels right. It can't hurt to take the wheel off when you next think you will need to clean it up and grease. Thanks for watching.

OK I'm months late but you may pick this up. More than likely the bike is sent in a semi knocked down condition then the "extremities" are bolted on at the shop you bought it from so I'd blame them for the lack of lube. Go to a bike shop and see the crates. They must be made to a size so they can be shipped, hence the semi knocked down condition.
U r correct. I have seen them. Forks off etc. Front wheel is strapped to the side of the frame. Strange though how everyone complains about the lack of grease.
@@NzJohny My last post, promise. I think the light smear of grease is for storage and transport to stop corrosion. You don't want to assemble a bike from a crate with large amounts of grease. If an axle is totally smeared then wrapped and goes into a hot area the parts crate and would be a mess on arrival.

@@NzJohny OK, you opened the said can of worms. I've been thinking of buying a DR and found you. Now I'm not so sure by the amount of mods they need. I was going KLR but one fall me down, stuff a radiator and I may have a long walk. I'm probably going used so will look for one with some improvements.
