    At this point Bealy might want to consider buying or renting a large telehandler. I worked construction for a large portion of my life. Having one of those machines on site was a necessity. An all terrain forklift, boomtruck, and man lift, in one. Saves a lot of money in boomtruck and crane rental. Saves a lot of time and work in general.

    • @chrisestill8825

      A 10k telehandler can do 90% of the work people usually get the other equipment for.

      @@mr.shannon6137 I’ve been looking. Only thing I don’t like is if you put a basket on the telehandler, you can’t control it from the basket. I might buy a digger Derrick with an 80’ boom

    • @omw-bavaria
      @omw-bavaria Месяц назад +6

      @@BealyGood but there are Telehandlers that can be controlled from the basket. I dont know for the US market as I live in Germany, but just last week I worked on a Manitou, Model MRT Roto if i remember right, that has a basket with remote control (attached to the basket similar to a lift). Only goes 80% or so in maximum speed for safety reasons, but thats still plenty and just as fast as a lift. And you can get a wireless remote also, use it with a winch on the boom like a crane.

    • @infinitepaul

      I imagine it has something to do with the weight distribution of the excavator and the possibility of the trench wall collapsing.

    • @simongeering
      @simongeering Месяц назад +6

      When the tracks of the excavator are parked parallel inline with, and close to the edge of an open trench or pit then 1/2 the weight of the machine is exerting forces on the relatively weak and unsupportive side wall of the excavation.
      If parking at right angle to the trench the only a smaller % of the weight is in the same risk area, at a guess approx 20% rather than the 50% when parallel.
      So there is less chance of the wall of the excavation collapsing and the machine with it.
      In the UK at least, excavations over a certain height must be reinforced with steel shearing supports.
