Great videos mate, I've been on a bit of binge of your videos :) Kingfish are a bugger, they love to run as my son hooked into one and being (12) young he wasn't strong enough to pull it in, and the reel was going crazy and the rod was in a U shape lol. I got on to the the rod and being a cheap 3-5kg /reel meant for Flat head,whiting and leather jackets etc it was a real struggle to pull it in but got it to the pier and went to grab the line and the bugger darted under the pier and snapped the line. Was around the same size as the one you caught, fun fight too bad i couldn't land it, i didn't even know that you could catch Kingfish from a pier in western port in Vic. The next day i went and bought decent rods/ reels as i learnt my lesson from that pretty fast, to be fair i hadn't fished in 20 years before then. Moral of the story don't be a cheap bastard like me :D

That was a great day of fishing. Looks like you got smoked by a pretty big kingy. The rock fishing season just opened here on the 1st, King Salmon starts on the 4th. My kids are on spring break and my boat is all set up and ready to go.

With ya float bud I use to fish it with a joiner knot instead of a swivel. Put on a small bead then the float but the floats I used had a built in weight an I’d have another bead between the hook an float. Love to get over an get a duh one day. Awesome vids mate.

Good spot there man. I got my first Dhuie on a whole crab in that exact spot. Plenty of blue grouper! I'll be heading to quobba in 2 weeks for some spangles off the beach. Hard job but someone's gotta do it! I'm not sure how but I would love to post some pics up of the trip incase others like to see. I have a few pics of the south coast also.
