    For what you are doing i would totally recommend the Pirrelli angel gt2. It is that middle ground, where the sides are super sticky and its a hard center compound so you can commute on it.

    Your gripe with the rear ABS is my number one issue with this motorcycle! In a customer satisfaction survey from Yamaha I expressed this concern. The ability to turn the rear off is what I truly want, but they could make a huge improvement by allowing more wheel speed variance at slower speeds thus making it not so over active and downright intrusive.
    Where this motorcycle shines is it's darty low end acceleration, and scalpel like precision and agility in slow tight cornering. All that is then ruined by the intrusive rear ABS. Like your driveway scenario, there is a four-way stop with a sharp steep hill right before it. The rear ABS kicking in allowed me to roll right into the four-way stop. The first time happened spooked me because I wasn't expecting it. I almost dropped the bike I've been riding for 20 years. I haven't had any issues with the front ABS.

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  2 года назад

      Haha spot on man, too bad I couldn’t spit what you said out in the video lol. Rear abs has been annoying on all the bikes I’ve had but I would agree as this one is the worst I’ve had and that would be awesome if there was an electronic or physical was to improve that on the bike, if I new how I would totally do it

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  2 года назад

      I can only speak for the US, as we can still buy bikes without abs it’s not mandatory to have on a bike although very much so recommended. I think abs is a great safety feature for motorcycles I just would like the option of toggling the rear on and off

    I just bought my r7 last week tuesday, 2/20 and have absolutely loved it, first bike ever. It’s got enough power to make me feel at ease on the freeway, but not enough where im whiskey throttling. The clear coat is so real. Terrible clear coat, but still just looks amazing, but sad it’s scratched after a week 🙃 definitely agree with you!!

    My biggest complaint, the stock suspension feels really weak, no matter what I do it feels like it doesn't change. Also you need to shop around on the insurance, I only pay 27 a month full coverage through state farm 100 deductible.

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  2 года назад +1

      Yea coming from my ninja 400 it’s way better but I’m really not that good or consistent enough of a rider to narrow in on what I don’t like about the suspension, it felt decent on the track so I’ve been ok with it for now. Yea I need to look into insurance again, I do have a totaled bike which is why I think it’s high

  • @leanit5756
    @leanit5756 2 года назад +6

    Given that I generally run my street tires at track pressure and wear out my tires on the sides, not the centers: I have been really happy with the S21s on my 690 SMC-R. The bike has similar HP and they have worn pretty well with really good grip. I used the Q4s on the track on my R1, and I think another bike or two as well. I don't think Q3+ can ever be a bad call on a street bike. RS11s are really great street/sport tires that do well on track too... those came on my R1M and had I kept it, I would have used them again.

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  2 года назад

      Nice dude that track is 👌🏼 I’m still watching it on MotoAmerica right now. What made you get rid of the r1m?

    • @leanit5756
      @leanit5756 2 года назад

      @@ScoutsOut Thanks, yes the track is outstanding, especially after they fixed it up for Moto American a couple years ago. They added the chicane, painted all the curbing, and added lots to the viewing areas and paddock area.
      I should have kept the R1M. It was a 2021 (most current gen) and essentially a perfect super bike. The engine was the smoothest to redline I have ever experienced, and the shifting was also the best I have ever tried. The suspension also had the range needed to make it livable on our bad roads.... the standard R1's suspension (which I had previously) was just too much on the broken up street, even loosened up fully.
      The R1M was tits in the summer and on the track. However much of the year, due to the foul weather here, it just seemed too nice to take out on wet, sanded roads. And definitely not particularly fun to do so. So I traded for 1290 Super Adventure R, which I just sold too. Turns out I can't really be satisfied with out a liter bike's rush, so I have a MT10 coming in. I had one before and never should have sold it either! But I look forward to the current gen as the R1's electronic package that is now on the MT10 is really terrific.

    Good list: after owning an r6, sv650, CBR1000RR and GSX-S 1000 here is what i do NOT like on my R7: 1) the brakes feel squishy 2) even with the pipe its pretty quiet 3) the display is not very bright 4) the insurance should be cheaper and its not. My GSX-S 1000 is 3x more power and 1/4 the price. I work for Progressive Insurance as a motorcycle claims adjuster too so I know we're not getting a lot of claims on these. 5) I'm scared to get the black paint dirty as well but damn it looks so good

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  4 месяца назад

      Good point, the display does suck! That’s good to hear on the claims side, hopefully at some point they really take the time to assess and lower it.

  • @moton8tion866
    @moton8tion866 2 года назад +4

    Another good video. I will agree with you on the paint, it is definitely cheap. The red center piece on mine is just getting beat up from my jacket, I tried to polish it out before i clear bra that section. It was picking up the red. Makes me think it is in fact not cleared. As for the brakes, I think that is something braided brake lines and better pads can correct. Yes the rear abs sucks, seems to engage at low speeds.

      Edit: If you're having slip issues with the S22's you've crashed on the R2's and R3's. The Rosso Corsa 2 is the S22 competitor with the 3 compound rear.

  • @Kawiwinter
    @Kawiwinter 2 года назад +4

    Okay, I thought it was only my R7, where the tank was so scratched up for no apparent reason. I'm glad that's normal then :D Also for me the biggest issue I'm having right now is even though I swapped the factory windshield for a Puig R-Racer, the wind gets blown right into my helmet (Shoei X-Spirit 3) all the time, creating noise almost unbearable without a neck gaiter / scarf or earplugs which I hate using, because it just muffles down everything too much, and with the stock exhaust, you can barely hear the bike anymore. (I'm 6 ft / 182 cms btw in case anyone is wondering) At this point I'm even considering removing the windshield completely and just go withhout it..

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  2 года назад

      Weird, I have the shoei x14 and the gt air. My x14 is much quieter than the gt air but really both are loud and need ear plugs. I can get by without ear plugs in the x14 but I know it’s not good for my ears. You might look into a different helmet, I think the arai helmets are supposed to be some of the quieter one

    I just don't like that it replaced the r6.. granted I understand why. Dealers wanted way too much money for it. They couldn't sell a $13 grand bike for $17 grand... UNDERSTANDABLE. And then when they discontinued it, our dummy dealers went and tried to get $20 grand for that same bike that was sitting on their own lot from last year because "its rAr3 n0w". Even though they're the reason it didn't sell and is now "rare". Donkeys...
    To this day there's 2 or 3 new old stock r6s for way too much money collecting dust at the dealer because of greed. And they keep making it more expensive.
