Rick- if sticks are needed on the bongos, do you use regular drum sticks or timbale sticks on bongos?
You can use either.
Timbale sticks will give you a higher, more transparent sound and drumsticks will sound lower.

Listen to bands with a drummer and a bongo player. You can start with some older Santana.
